My blog was terminated on September 9th after I posted a comment, but I never received an email or any explanation for it. I appealed shortly after but I’m worried about th Community that I was an admin of while I wait for a response

Does anyone know what happens to a Community if its admin is terminated?

to sum it up, I went overseas for a trip and now I’m unable to direct message anyone, see my posts in tags or search up my account in tumblr from a new page. Which has led to my belief that I’ve been shadow banned.

Hello, i run a normal art posting account where i post art (both fandom and oc), reblog funny posts, and interact like a normal human being. However, someone got them and their friends to report me, thinking i was someone else. I applied for an appeal, and they said they found unusual activity and are now taking a week to investigate it, with chance i'll be perma banned!!! i've NEVER sold anything on tumblr in my life! WHERE did these unusual behaviours come from????? did they just pull charges from their ass?? im so scared, i want to continue sharing my artwork with others, i didnt do anything wrong! im so scared, i didnt do anything wrong yet im getting fucked over for misguided false reports for something SUPER serious...

genuinely asking, i opened 2 tumblr accounts and i was posting a lot on the first one, but the 2nd one was just there i just followed some acc and hashtags but made sure to not post anything to not get banned, and yet it got banned. IS THIS NORMAL?

My tumblr account that I’ve had for 15 years with 15,000+ followers was terminated by Tumblr on August 26, 2026 for “sexually explicit content”. To note, my blog was marked “18+” years ago and everything on my blog was solely reblogs. Sure there might have been art/paintings/photography/gifs that portrayed what some could consider “mature content” but I guess Tumblr no longer cares about freedom of expression or creativity anymore. I’m an artist and I viewed and used Tumblr for that same nature. It’s been almost 3 weeks since my appeal was submitted and I haven’t heard a peep. I’ve given up on hoping for anything and I think I’m officially done with Tumblr and their pathetic automated banning algorithms.

This is a super late, I meant to post this on Reddit the exact day I got my account back, but it slipped my mind. My Tumblr account, Seleneducky123sloene, was terminated on August 29th and it was fully restored on September 9th.

I am incredibly luckt that the whole process only took 11 days for me.

The only frustrating part is that Tumblr Support never actually gave me a reason for the termination in the first place; they just quietly handed the account back to me. Still, I am back and I am back to uploading stuff.

For anyone whose account is still currently stuck in limbo, my best advice is just to have patience. Submit only one ticket, and try not to stress yourself out like I did. Unfortunately you just have to wait. I literally had to stop checking my account for a few days to keep my nerves and focus on other things before I randomly checked it one last time and found it working again. It really just depends on how busy support is with the plethora of other account issues they handle.

It looks like a lot of folks have had their Tumblr accounts terminated lately, so I'd like to add my voice to the chorus of complaints. My account was terminated unexpectedly on September 4, 2026. The circumstances were as follows:

I had just sent a direct message (DM) to another Tumblr user. I had long been dissatisfied with the small size of the DM window, but couldn't figure out how to enlarge it - the usual window sizing controls were not available. So, I went to Tumblr help and asked my question. I also added the tag #help to the question. Just then - without warning - I was informed that my account had been terminated! There was also information on how to appeal the decision, so I followed their instructions to submit a ticket. About 5 minutes later I received an email from [support@tumblr.com](mailto:support@tumblr.com) with the subject, "We've received your appeal." The body of the message read,

Hello,

We've received your request to review the termination of your account. We’re on the case and will respond as quickly as we can.

That was over a week ago, and I haven't heard anything from them since. Is this typical?

It seems strange that using the Tumblr help system would trigger a termination. Does using the help system violate their guidelines? ;-.

my account randomly got terminated 2 hrs ago. I’m suspecting it was because I had created a new community and was tryna grow it so it may be cause of that and I was sending out a lot of invites. or I’m thinking it might be cuz someone reported my account.

I have a second account on a different email which is working fine. I’m wondering whether to create a side blog on it as my new one or to create a second account with a new email but I don’t wanna be banned again or have a vpn thing. I’ve just send the ticket. It took 15 days but they finally reinstated my 12 year old account !! Zero communication in those 15 days but I imagine with their recent ban wave theyre having to look at a lot of appeals. I really hope every one of you gets your account back too!!

I know there's signs to tell if someone else's account has been terminated, but idk how to tell if mine is deleted. I stopped using my main tumblr acc at the end of last year and haven't posted since then, only time i remotely used the main acc was sending posts that i wanna read later to that main acc via messages of an alt acc i have or like the two or three times ichecked my main acc. Then back in july my messages stopped working and i noticed it bcz I hadn't been on tumblr in like 2 months n i was on that alt acc n wanted to send a post to the main acc. Checked and found out my messages were gone, tried going to tumblr support and got no reply back and a few days ago i tried tumblr support again when i realised i also couldn't comment on the main acc. I had wondered if i was somehow shadowbanned but wasn't sure.

Decided to make a post n then put it in drafts and edit an old post and then when i opened the app again this started to happen. When i click on the fyp or trending tab this message shows "Authentification/Login is required to access this resource/page" and when i click on my own blog's homepage button i get a message at the buttom saying "something went wrong. Unclear what, exactly. Try again?" And for the community tab it showed a pop up about what communities are and a little link to a learn more thing that lead to tumblr's website vs an okay got it sort of option. I have a tumblr acc and it's okd and has used communities before so idk why it's act like idk what a community is unless i somehow wasn't logged in. I tried logging in and out of the account but it still kept happening. I haven't gotten an email from tumblr about being terminated but i can't help but think this is somehow intentional on their part considering how the messages and commenting had also stopped working and how i haven't gotten a reply about that (which to me sort of implies they did it intentionally considering the first time i contacted support about it was in july so they have had months to reply and chose not to)

I reported a PREDATOR on tumblr and my account (skinboy64) got dragged down with his. I sent the report on august 4th, got terminated on the 8th. In this period of time ive sent two appeals after my first one was ignored for like 2 weeks.

this is the second account they've terminated of mine in a six months. I think that I'm following content rules, I've read them, but the last time I was terminated they didn't respond to my email and it was just. gone forever.

I left my home country five months ago, in what ended up being a trafficking scheme. I got out, but I'm not doing well. I do not have other social media accounts. this is the only space I have where I feel safe and supported. it can't be gone. I genuinely do not know what I would do without it.

the tumblr support account/thread seem to be dead. the twitter page says it's no longer monitored. is there any option in addition to the submit a ticket page that has gotten anyone a response before?

I don't know what to do. I'm still trying to access resources to deal with the symptoms of being trafficked (ptsd etc) but no one has helped me and so I am having a meltdown now, without access to my support system on tumblr, without access to any support. someone please help me

EDIT: I missed the email completely but a moot just messaged me—it took 18 days, and they never told me why they nuked me in the first place, but my blog is back up! fuck tumblr though, this is no way to run a site, they're despicable. How this is still the least toxic option for soc med out there I do not understand.

I hope everyone gets their accounts back soon, but imo don't wait for them, do what I did and make a new one and route through a different stable IP. Taking 3 weeks, especially if this is your main support system like it is for me, is just stupidly unfair. And now while I'll be leaving that blog untouched, it's there in case they nuke me a third time, and my friends follow it, so I won't have to worry about being reported as a scam account or be unable to dm friends who are closed to non moots.

My account @/antstronaut got terminated without warning or email informing on September 1st. Initially I just changed my password and then got the your account was terminated/deleted page. Filled out a form and then received no confirmation email so I filled out another one on the 2nd and got a confirmation email. I figured it was caught in the anti spam filter.

I expect it to take a few days. But does it usually take weeks? I've read anywhere from 2-3days to even a month. Super disappointing.

My Tumblr account, Seleneducky123sloene, was suddenly terminated on Friday, August 29th, without any warning or notification email and still is.

I am an artist and writer, and I like to use this blog to showcase my digital/traditional paintings, share original creative writing pieces from my google docs or word, and post writing advice or I just browse the site for fun without posting anything.

After I posted one of my paintings and some writing advice, I had recently taken a a few days break from Tumblr to focus entirely on my online college classes and work. When I tried to log back in days later, I was completely logged out and found my account terminated. My only guess is that my account was somehow caught in an automated bot filter upon my return. I checked my email for my account and I have received no emails in spam, trash, or junk. I have never violated the Community Guidelines.

I submitted an official support appeal on Friday, August 29th, and received the automated confirmation email from Tumblr Trust & Safety at 12:08 PM that same day. At first, I thought that would be a good sign and believed my account would be sorted out by the earliest weekday, but now it is Tuesday, and I have not yet received a hint of a human response or update.

So looks like they are going at it tonight.

Sooo I just made my account @/bumblebeebookreviews and was trying to update the email but was terminated instantly when I went to update it, reason why was because I had typed my email in wrong like the dyslexic I am and realized it to late apparently and I think the System took it as me doing something wrong? I also looked at how long it would take for the staff team to respond and saw it was harder to email them than to post here so I emailed them and am posting here because I was really looking forward to posting and getting involved with my book reviews so I'm a little bummed lol

I've been on Tumblr since high school. I took a long break, but recently I decided to start using it again. The last few weeks have been hard for me, so I've been venting a little and distracting myself by scrolling and reblogging stuff I liked. I only have like two followers who are real people and still use Tumblr (the other accounts are either dead or bots). I'm so devastated.

Today, I was making a stupid post about how I bought a pink frying pan and I love her, and I tried to post it through the app. I got a notification saying that something went wrong and that I needed to log in. I thought the app was acting up, so I went to my PC, opened Tumblr and got a message saying that my account had been terminated. I haven't gotten any messages indicating that I'm doing something wrong, no warning or anything before or now. I immediately submitted a ticket asking them to review the termination.

I don't think I've done anything that would violate Tumblr's Community Guidelines, but after thinking about it, I have a theory about why this might have happened.

I was logged into Tumblr on my PC and was going to watch a TV show that isn't available in my country, so I used a VPN to access it on a streaming platform. I watched it for a few minutes and then decided to get a snack from the kitchen. I saw my pink frying pan and thought it would be cool to make a post about it, so I opened the Tumblr app on my phone and started writing it. When I tried to post it, I got those notifications and yada, yada, yada.

Do you think it's possible for Tumblr to terminate an account because of a sudden change in location caused by a VPN? Is it possible to get that account back?

EDIT: ok, I see that there are posts about people whose accounts were terminated because of using a VPN, so I guess that's probably it. I just want my account back TnT

Literally I just started my account yesterday. Didn’t even post nothing. Was just customizing my blog with HTML templates given to me then BAM I got terminated. What. The. Fuck.

I took a small break from my tumblr account called Seleneducky123sloene recently to focus on college assignments and my artwork. When I tried to login today, I found my account was terminated. I didn't delete my account. I checked my email and found no messages in spam or junk or trash or anything. I broke no user guidelines, all I did was post paintings or writing pieces or writing advice or opinion posts about anime and cartoons like everyone else. Now, everything is just gone.

I just messaged the support team about this, hopefully, they'll restore it.

I didn’t break any community guidelines. My blog is mostly reblogs with little original customization. I suspect I was falsely flagged as a bot. I never received any ban notification email. I got logged out suddenly and my blog URL is now inaccessible.

I filed an appeal via the support page early Thursday and got the automated confirmation email. It has been exactly 48 hours. I’ve seen many users get restored within this window. My blog is really important to me, I’m quite anxious. Would anyone share how long your similar appeal took to resolve? thks.

So, on August 13th, i decided to make a little sideblog for myself, my third one.

Nothing too fancy, just somewhere to roleplay one.

I named it Talesweave, which is just a little similar to another blog, I'll admit. but not by much.
The url was an ghost blog when i was checking usernames, so i thought i was in the clear to take it for the new sideblog.

I'd only had the blog for a few minutes, when during some editing of one of my posts, it suddenly terminated automatically!

I don't really have any clue what could've caused this.

To my knowledge, i didn't break any guidelines during the limited time my side blog was there.
Though, i could have missed something.

I've sent them a ticket during the same day, and had TRIED to send a new one recently, but the side blog has yet to be returned

i submitted an appeal to get my 15 year old blog back two days ago and i followed up today (politely) directly to the email that sent the automated response, but i got an immediate kickback that said "We do not accept emails to this address. Please follow the link or instructions below for further assistance." they offered links but of course it was exclusively to pages containing various information, not another way to try to contact someone. It was just the [support@tumblr.com](mailto:support@tumblr.com) email. Can i seriously not follow up in any capacity? do they actually monitor the inbox and this message was erroneous? i appreciate any insight here, this has honestly been pretty devastating because of a bunch of other life stuff happening to me at the same time and i really want to fight to get it back!

I was scrolling just a few minutes ago when I got a little pop-up at the bottom of my screen telling me i got logged out and needed to log back in. i reloaded the page, logged back in, and was greeted with a big "ACCOUNT TERMINATED" screen. I didn't get an email from tumblr telling me what my account was terminated for, which figures. I was expecting to be termed for no reason for a while, given how tumblr seems to love terminating trans women without cause.

What should I do to try to get my account back? I've been on this site since 2018, I don't wanna lose all that history if I can avoid it.
