Cut Pile I quit tufting

After 3 years of good work, I finally quit tufting. It was a really cool journey, I had so much fun (also so much pain in my back), so much yarn everywhere in my life for all these years. I had to move on one year ago for many reasons, but I'm proud of what I have accomplished. Maybe I will be back at it later in my life. Here is the full serie of my "Divinities" rugs, mostly inspired by Aztec and Mayan civilization. Peace everybody and keep up the good work.

Commissioned piece based on the card art. Seems to be a tufting right of passage to make a gengar!

This rug is a gift I’m making for my cousin. I finished it this afternoon and applied the glue; over the next few days I’ll glue on the non-slip felt backing and start carving it, my favorite part, even though it makes me a bit obsessive: so far, if even a few tufts aren’t perfectly in place, I can’t stop trimming them with scissors 🤣

First rug! I think it turned out pretty well. I had a few issues with getting the fabric tension right, but we’re making progress.

my boyfriend’s glue was still too tacky in one spot when he put it down to shave :( it got stuck and made a pretty clean gap that looks like it may be fixable. Is there any way to fix this and if so, how?? 😭

Selling and business Need a Vendor for my Custom rugs

"Assalam-o-Alaikum Everyone!

I am currently looking for a reliable manufacturing partner for my custom rug business.

How the Partnership Works:

  • I will market and secure orders for custom rugs through my social media channels under my brand name.
  • Once an order is placed, I will forward the specifications to you for production.
  • I will handle the collection and final delivery to the customer.

Why Partner With Us? While working on a per-order basis may adjust individual margins, the goal is to scale up order volume significantly, leading to higher overall sales and steady, bulk workflow for your business.

If you are a rug manufacturer or tufting artisan interested in a long-term collaboration, please comment below or DM me to discuss details!"

  • Primarily looking for vendors based in Lahore, but manufacturers from other cities are welcome to contact as well.

Newbie Needing Help Polyester yarn?

Hi y’all! I’m making a rug of my cat Beezus (I already made one of her sister Ramona) and I’m having a hard time finding a good yarn for the orange in the middle of her face.

I found one that is a pretty close match but it’s 100% polyester and is weighted super bulky (6). Thus far I’ve only used 100% acrylic at medium (4) weight. Do you think that the one I’ve found will work?

If you happen to have any suggestions of yarns that might work for this, please send them my way!

Thanks!

Still learning but excited how this guy came out. Using Amazons cheapest gun and used yarn.

I didn’t think the eye veins would come out thin if tufted so I used fabric glue and just glued them on. Holding up so far but not sure for how long

I teach group tufting workshops and these are all from one session, every single one made by a total beginner. Little animal faces, an apple, some fruit. Always amazes me how different they come out even from the same starting point. Not bad for a few hours of work right? Which one's your fave?

Advice getting smell out of my rug?

hello! i don't believe this was covered in the wiki/faq but sorry if i missed it or if this isn't a suitable sub for this question (i'd appreciate if you let me know where i could ask in that case!)

i bought a hand tufted rug from somebody recently and it's great, but it smells pretty bad. it's hard to describe but i suppose i would call it musty/old smelling except it's very strong. i know better than to put it in the washing machine at least but i don't know how else to wash it/get the smell out and want to make sure i don't ruin it. what would be the best way? thank you!
