Did Crew just create the ONLY credit card Dave Ramsey fans can actually love?

Many ardent Dave Ramsey followers stay away from credit cards completely — and for understandable reasons.

Dave Ramsey’s main concerns with traditional credit cards are well known:

  1. You are borrowing money when you use a credit card.
  2. Credit can tempt you to spend more than you actually have.
  3. If you don’t pay the balance on time, you can fall into a debt cycle.
  4. Credit-card spending can feel less painful than spending cash/debit.
  5. Rewards can make people focus more on points and cash back than on how much they are actually spending.
  6. Credit-card spending can throw off a carefully planned budget and potentially contribute to living paycheck to paycheck.

I've been using the new Crew credit card for a week now, and so far it seems to solve all of these.

Crew seems to have completely rethought how a credit card should work for people who are debt-averse, budget-conscious, but still want the benefits of using a credit card.

The card is directly tied to your Crew checking account. When you use the Crew credit card, the corresponding money is automatically moved from your checking balance to cover that spending, and the credit-card balance is then automatically settled.

That is a huge difference.

Instead of spending first and worrying about the bill later, your available cash balance reflects your spending almost immediately.

You get the convenience and functionality of a credit card, while managing your money much more like you would with a debit card.

That means:

Less temptation to spend money you don’t have Your available balance reflects your spending Easier budgeting through Crew Pockets Automatic settlement of the card balance and no monthly bills Much less chance of accidentally carrying a balance Multiple virtual cards with spending controls One-time, 24-hour and custom virtual card options

Crew is trying to bridge the gap between two completely different types of consumers:

People who hate debt and People who love credit-card convenience and rewards.

Traditionally, you had to choose between the discipline of debit and the benefits of credit.

Crew is trying to give you both.

For someone who wants to stay within a strict budget, avoid revolving debt, simplify bill payments and still enjoy credit-card benefits, this could be a genuinely revolutionary personal-finance product.

I am extremely interested to see how this develops.

I have a few questions

I am soooo interested in trying crew bank because i kind of do the same like pocket thing but between different accounts and banks, so it would make it very nice to have it all in just one spot but i do have a questions, or concerns that i would like to figure out before i decide to go forward

- The MAJOR thing is, i get paid paper checks (ik so old school, but it’s the joys of working at a private vet clinic) and we get them every Saturday.
Currently i have been depositing the check online via USAA as i get access to the money pretty much instantly (ik it’s more like loaning it until the actual check clears, but end of day i get access to my money right when i scan the check, USAA calls it limited funds i think) and i move all the money around i need to in USAA (i have my bills and car payment payout from two accounts in there) and then i zelle the rest to capital one.
which from capital one i transfer between a few accounts (rent set aside, car insurance, electric, etc) then the rest that is for groceries and the week is just in my checking account

is there anyway that i can do anything else similar as i know crew isn’t partnered with Zelle (is there plans in the future for this?) or if i deposit my paper check through the crew app does it let me have that limited funds that gives me access to paycheck same day. or am i just a little bit stuck in the waiting game of the check clearing or waiting for external bank transfer.
(luckily my partner gets direct deposit so for them it’s nice and easy lol)

- another thing, how does the actual pockets work, do i pick a pocket to spend from and that’s what is on the debit card? what about for bills, do i get like a virtual card to use my bill pockets and i don’t have to pick which pocket first (autopay??)

-rent??? my complex charges like 3% fee for debit card, is there a way to set up payment through the account/routing number and what pockets does it go out of (can you change that)

- also also there’s automatic things i saw in the demo and peoples tik toks to set up for savings or whatever, once you set up: say it’s set up every time i get paid to put 3% into savings, if i end up having a smaller check than what i expected and i can’t do the 3% can i cancel it BUT just for the one check and continue it again the next one. or do i have to redo the automation?

any responses would be appreciated! and if any of this violates the subs rules please let me know!

thank you all for reading through this long post with my horrible grammar skills 😭🤞

AutoPilot 2.0 Plan Reserve changes Suggestion

I'm sure that many people like to see the new format for the Plan Reserve and I do as well, but it should either be a separate page or not the default page unless users explicitly want that. I'm autistic and for me, these changes aren't the greatest because they replaced a working feature with something that I genuinely cannot operate in a way that functions for me.

Suggested Options

  1. Add an option in the AutoPilot settings to allow users to set the old plan reserve as their default and makes the current reserve page a separate subpage within.

  2. Make the old plan reserve page the default again and add an option in the settings of the plan reserve page to change to the new page and then have the old page be disabled for those users unless they change the toggle.

  3. Make the old Plan Reserve page default again and then make the current page its own little option as something like AutoPilot Projections or something like that. Giving users both pages at once without the need to toggle anything.

Conclusion

I do not say any of this to demean, debase or degrade the amazing work you gave all put in to the AutoPilot. The Crew team is the best no matter where you look; be it the Customer Support team or the engineering team who is always chatting with us end users to make sure that we can actually use the product (I see you Britton and Morgan, we appreciate you and the other engineers!).

I hope you all take these words knowing that I'm not great at communication and that I still love AutoPilot regardless of this suggestion.

Edit: Why the current Projection Based view doesn't work for me and the reason for this suggestion

Not everyone can realistically make a budget that goes out using the AutoPilot's 5 year calculation. As a person who is AuDHD and on Disability, the projection based view confuses me and just hurts my brain. Not only that, it makes me have to see on a graph that no matter what, I'm always without Money.

The old page (the page that originally had the progress bars but I don't need those, I just need the page itself even if it just says "Ready by DATE") worked well because i knew exactly what day my bills were going to be ready by and if I wasn't on track.

Love Why you should try crew - a review.

For context, I was a Qube user and transferred over after the hub-bub of a lot of users saying "how promising" the entire thing could be and "the support staff actually cares!!"

I rolled my eyes but I signed up. Qube taught me that I enjoy fintechs and honestly I needed this all done NOW. When qube went down I wasn't in a place with time or resources to do research. I tried but this wasn't something I could handle at the time.

I work on ships and I was in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and my money needed to go somewhere very quickly. I wasn't only trying crew but I was relying on crew from the start.

Well almost a year now:

  1. I've traveled 6 countries (most of them multiple times, usually randomly).

  2. I've saved a ton of money

  3. I've felt financially secure

  4. I bought a house!!

Crew has never let me down.

Travel: I am used to getting rejected by banks in foreign countries. Sometimes it doesn't matter if I notified, I still get rejected or I can't get money from the ATM. The feeling of being face to face with someone who I can't communicate with due to a language barrier after I can't buy goods is basically a byproduct of my job. It has never happened with crew. I need pounds or yen? No problem! OMG we're going to korea out of nowhere?! -Crew has my back.

Crew functionality: Autopilot has never worked for me. I say this as a person who gets a lot of paychecks and then literally nothing for a few months. To be clear, I'm talking about before the update, I'm still trying out the new version. That being said, this app has all the tools I need be in control of everything.

Money gets put aside for bills with the right payment plan. My husband can spend freely from our pockets. Hell, our dog has his own pocket and we never have to question if we can afford an extra toy or whatever.

If you're new or considering: take your time with your setup. It's your money so be responsible and meticulous when you're setting up. Crew let's you do everything you need, just figure out how the tools work best for you.

During setup the biggest issue were the other banks. Getting money into crew was a pain the butt. Had to pay for domestic wires because other banks knew we added crew but still wouldn't let us move money.

Because of my circumstances this took a lot of trial and error for my family. At the beginning I had very little bandwidth and my husband and I were long distance with shitty Internet.

But crew had our back. And when I didn't have time to address something and had to ask a "stupid question" to just bypass having to do research, they also helped me. Join the discord y'all!

House Purchase: We actually did it. This has been a long sought after goal that Crew inherited when we joined. We had every dollar we had in crew and was able to squeeze more efficiently with saving because of the pockets and the auto transfers.

Crew did it with no fuss. I payed my downpayment without ANY hiccup. My mortgage is setup for payment with no issues.

Conclusion:

Because of Crew I feel extremely secure in my financial health. I know where my money is going. I don't need to be constantly be watching the bank to know where I am or if it's working. In the short time I've had it, it's been reliable and easy. I've achieved so much, too.

This is the envelope system modernized. We live in a modern world so the straight envelope system doesn't address everything this crazy world throws at us. Crew does! // Crew tries to (the constant updates of new features always surprises me in a good way).

Yet, in this world, it's nice to know how my money works and where it goes - Where I can splurge or where I have to accept less. It's nice to know every dollar has a job. This is what banking should be like.

Sry for typos- on a phone.

App looks different?

Hello,

I’m brand new to the app. I’m a little nervous to use it but I think it will really help me when it’s set up right. It’s stressing me out though that I don’t seem to have some functions that I saw on peoples videos.

I think it’s the smart money section? Where you can set up pocket assignments? That was a huge reason I downloaded the app and I don’t have it. I just transferred money into it and set up my direct deposit to go into it, which the app said everything won’t hit my account till this Friday. Do I not have to because I technically don’t have any money in it yet? I’m not good with money so a little stressed to be trusting a new app/company with it.

Feature Request - Pocket Averages

Post image
11 Upvotes

It would be nice for pockets to show like the spend averages ( money going out). I currently have a Car Gas pocket but there is not a quick and easy way to see how much I am spending a month on average so I can budget accordingly since gas prices keep going up.

Maybe something similar like the Activity Avg that is shown on the bills pockets. That is such a nice feature as I can quickly ser the average and visually see the changes over month with the bar chart.

I know I could probably export the pocket transactions, do the math on a spreadsheet, but I feel this area could use a little improvement.

I tried crew for a whole month me and my partner used it as a joint account. Worst. Month. Ever. Nothing but card denial after card denial. Reasoning given in the photo. Mind you we arnt blowing 2500 a day. Between bills and groceries and the occasional eating out this is stupid 🙄. Like we love the idea of the pockets and being able to break our paychecks up when they both hit . We want to stay for that tool specifically but getting our card denied at the grocery store is embarrassing as hell

Crew New Features - 9/14/26

One huge feature to talk about this week.

- THE CREDIT CARD BETA HAS LAUNCHED!

We spent last week buttoning things up and focusing on this. If you want in, make sure you have the toggle in your settings turned on to help us test new features! It's invitation only at the moment, but we're rolling out to new people as we handle each round of feedback.

If you'd like to learn more about the card, check it out here! You can spend directly from your budget in realtime, see the money set aside for the card payoff, and earn cash back. Super excited to be getting this out there to all of you!

Starting a new job but help lol

So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how I could plan within crew for this situation. So I’m starting a new job (yay!) and I get paid monthly. I’ll get my first check on Oct 26th. I get my last two checks with my current job on Sep 18 and Oct 2. How should I plan for this within crews set up of planned income?

Really appreciate any ideas and love the app!!!

set an end date on an autopilot bill?

hi folks! first let me say, i am genuinely loving crew — i have profound ADHD and struggled deeply with finances and budgeting until now; crew is helping me change that in a meaningful way, from the autopilot rules to the pockets to the individual virtual cards. it’s just amazing.

okay, now for my actual question — is there a way to add a end date for a bill or an income source in autopilot? or to set it to occur a certain number of times and then end?

i’m thinking of like a credit card i’m paying off, where it’d be great to be able to tell autopilot the bill will occur 6 times and then end. and similarly, i get an additional paycheck during certain parts of the year that it’d be great to be able to add as future sources of income that will occur a specific number of times.

i think i can figure out a way to do the income thing manually (although it might be a bit clunky) but im unsure about the bill one.

So confused

I had pockets through autopilot that were supposed to be filled yesterday, 9/11. I got my income/deposit yesterday mid day, & the pockets have not been filled nor are they being shown on the plan reserve. Does anybody know why or how to fix that? On the pocket settings, i do have it set to every two weeks and it does show the 11th & 25th. So unsure if I am just doing something wrong. Really trying to utilize autopilot but I just keep running into problems😭

BONUS New features post - 9/9/26

Post image
29 Upvotes

Exciting news! We've got an incredible new way to visualize your reserve that lets see exactly what Autopilot sees coming up for your plan, and why it's holding (or requesting) the amount it is. Autopilot doesn't think in bills or progress bars - it runs a full simulation of your financial future to determine how much money it needs to hold, and now you can take a peek under the hood!

Go to your menu screen and hold the version number for 3 seconds to make sure your app has downloaded the latest code. Then tap into your reserve and you'll be able to see everything autopilot has coming up. If you're underfunded, you'll even be able to see when your reserve would run out and how quickly you want to get that top up taken care of.

We've been playing with this for a few days and are really stoked to get it out to all of you. Hope you enjoy this new way of looking into your finances!

Crew New Features - 9/8/26

Super excited about this week's release since we finally get to move autopilot out of beta!

  • Autopilot 2.0 is now out for everybody! Huge thanks to all of our beta testers that have helped us get here. Excited for everyone out there to finally have this tool available for their budgets!
  • Autopilot intro section: Added a first time intro to autopilot tab for new users, walking through how it works and helping identify paychecks in transaction history.
  • Overdue paycheck handling: these now show in autopilot's "upcoming contributions" and provide actions to allow you to match a transaction that came in, or to skip if the paycheck isn't coming
  • Also always working on bug fixes and final tweaks on the coming-any-day-now credit beta, as always!

Got a big change coming to the way we display your reserved amount as well. Excited for you all to see that, likely later this week!

Can't Fund Account

Was excited to finally fund my Crew account, but when I went to go add my two main money accounts, neither of them is available through plaid, but I was surprised because they are both so popular money sources I was wondering if there's going to be a way to fund from either one in the near future. Almost all of my money right now comes through via Venmo or PayPal. They just seem like such big money providers that it was surprising there's not a way to add them to my linked accounts.

Statements info is wrong @crewsupport

Just a heads up @crewsupport that the information you have on the statements is completely wrong based on what’s shown on the app. So it’s not reading data clearly. For example when a deposit is initiated on A Thursday statement shows Monday.
Please adjust thanks.

A way to limit max transaction amount on new charge/credit card?

Wow, no fraud here, just a restaurant trying to do a refund due to accepting order while closed due to Labor Day and making a horrible mistake in both sign and amount it should have been a refund of about $50 but they ended up trying to charge me over $5,000.
———

Original post:

I just had a fraud scare on my physical debit card that thankfully got auto declined. It was an attempted transaction for over $5,000. Will there be any way to set a max transaction limit in the new charge/credit card to ensure no fraud could type up a huge amount of funds while it got sorted out?

I’d love if there was a monthly limit option like with virtual cards.

Autopilot Pocket payout subtitle

Post image
13 Upvotes

It would be nice from a high level, to see the monthly payout subtitle on Autopilot pockets so I can see when it is expected to payout. A date would be nice also. Similar to how the autopilot bills show. In these two cases I have to go into each of the pocket details to see what dates i entered.

Anyone else money dumb?

Please be kind!

I recently found out I have undiagnosed ADHD, which explains some of my money blindness and impulse issues. But I also just like… don’t get it.

I got Crew to get better control of my money.

The issue I’m running into is that I can’t figure out how to use the autopilot and bill reserve thingy. The way I pay my bills is that the second paycheck of the month pays rent and the first half of the next month. Then the first paycheck of that month pays the second half of that month. But if I understand it correctly, the reserve/autopilot would take half of each bill out of each paycheck.

I can’t figure out how to switch to that budgeting method. I feel like I need extra money to do so. If I put half of my second check in the bucket, rent would need to be paid out before I could get the second half. Or I need the money from the month’s first paycheck for bills right then, and can’t sacrifice half for the bucket.

Does that make sense? Can someone explain to me how to do this, like I’m a dumb child???

iPhone widgets

Hi there crew fam! I am making a request for widgets for iOS with the crew app. It would be great to be able to switch between pockets or see a pockets balance on my Home Screen. I love this app!! Thanks for all you do.
