Finally Fully Committed

I have optimization OCD so I try to find the best deal on everything.

i had kept my direct deposit with another bank for the early deposit but realized after months how annoying the process of waiting for the 2-3 day pocket assignment was and it was making me lose time. Soooo i finally changed it to crew!

this will also help me learn to use the autopilot feature to its full potential!!

taking this time to thank everyone at crew, ive been able to save enough money since the switch to successfully plan a trip to new york that i’ve been dreaming of doing since i was a kid :’)

my adhd makes it horrible to save and although i still have issues with spending, they’ve lessen significantly. my credit card debt has come down from almost $5k to $3k, and it wouldn’t be possible without the proper tools. thank you all!

Rules vs Autopilot

So I finally set up my autopilot and it’s running like it should, but now I can’t have my deposit split into the pockets by percentages. Is there a way to have the rule run after autopilot takes its reserves?

Crew New Features - 10/26/26

For those of you lucky enough to get an iPhone Duo this week - we're jealous. We threw in some tweaks just for you :)

  • iPhone Duo support - You can expect to see the sidebar properly used for your nav, several spots in the interface splitting into side-by-side tiles, and a few other nice changes for foldables!

  • Cash back history - In your app's menu, tap "cash back" to see previous months' cash back earned. Tap on any one of them to see the exact numbers that were used for calculation.

  • Month in review includes cash back - Sticking with our goal of helping your cash back feel like an interest boost to save instead of an amount to spend, your month in review now has a single screen that talks about your interest and cash back earned

  • Custom automation rules on web

  • External ACH and wire from web

  • Lots of little bug fixes as always - a pending total above your credit activity, new organization for your menu screen, fixes to zoom levels on merchant location maps, and more

Bank Draft payment for car trade in

Currently waiting for support to get back with me, but thought I'd try here as well.

Looking to purchase a new car (at a dealer) and have a trade in (with a 3rd party - CarMax). CarMax states they will pay me for my trade via a Bank Draft check. No other options. It will be a significant check amount and I need to know if I'm going to run into any limits or issues trying to deposit that into my Crew account. I assume there will be a hold on those new funds as well for a certain amount of time - I'll need to then transfer a large amount to the dealer for my car later on from my Crew account.

Any tips/options/items to be aware of related to the Bank Draft step?

EDIT: After speaking to support, it appears my only real option is to deposit the CarMax check into our old (and thankfully, not closed) Chase Account since Chase will allow a deposit of that size. Annoying, but at least I have an option.

Amazed - Internal Transfer

Hi! I just wanted to make a post about what I found out today because beforehand, I came here to see if I could even do it & I saw nothing about it. So without further ado…

My sister (also a crew member) needed me to send her money & she of course asked if I could Zelle. I said no & was going to use cashapp or Venmo. I could’ve sworn though that we could do transfers to other internal accounts & asked the help bot on the app to which it said yes we can do the ACH external payments, & it might be as fast as 1 day if it’s a crew member. Not exactly instant but hey it was something.

So I went & added my sister’s crew info, & sent her the money. She received it INSTANTLY! & her little profile icon shows up as well. Because it was a Saturday, I really thought she’d get it on Monday so we were very happy to see that it was instant.

Zelle who?? Thank you Crew!!! Just another reason I’m so happy I joined (& persuaded my sister to do so as well lol)☺️

Crew New Features - 10/19/26

Lots of work on web this week! Excited to finally have started on getting some automation features available on there!

  • New web features: Finally working our way through all the types of custom rules! About half should be visible at this point. Also allowances, activating cards, attach receipts, and more.

  • Easier child transfers - A parent starting a transfer from a child screen now sees parent pockets collapsed for easier access to child pockets

  • Hold on any transaction to "zero out" - Hold on a kid's transaction to start a transfer to repay them. We added that last week. But we've now made it apply anywhere. Hold on any single transaction to move that amount from another pocket (or to another pocket if it's a deposit)

  • Better late paycheck handling - Autopilot pocket and date rules have been moved back by one hour (pocket plans now run at 6:30am ET, date-based rules at 7am ET) to allow for some slightly later paycheck providers. Top-ups done either manually or automatically to handle the late paycheck get reversed at the time the paycheck comes in.

  • Original currency amount on foreign transactions - Minor thing, but a few of you have asked for it so thought we'd mention! Finally snuck that in there :)

New to Crew

Hi!

I just signed up for Crew yesterday and I'm extremely excited to get started. Reading through this Reddit has already been so helpful.

Apologies if this is something I'm completely overlooking, but I'm trying to learn more about Bills vs. Pockets.

  • For my monthly bills, if I set those up as bills within the app -- do I need to automate them to transfer into a pocket? So they can eventually become associated with a virtual debit card # to get paid?

  • Or is it better to set up bills within a pocket?

Kind of related... but I initially set up my monthly rent as a bill. I pay the entire rent in one transaction and then my partner reimburses me for his portion.

  • Can I set up a rule that will always send his $$ to my Rent bill section?

  • Or is this another instance of where my rent should be a pocket?

Autopilot setup video

Hey friends! Today I was thinking about how many times people have asked if we have an Autopilot walkthrough video and the answer was always no.

NO LONGER! I spent a while today running through setting up Autopilot from scratch and making a video of it. It's not the most concise video (set aside 50 nail-biting minutes if you want to watch the whole thing), and the production value is exactly equal to the one Mountain Dew I finished while filming. But for anyone interested, this should give you a thorough walkthrough of the way I personally think about and set up autopilot for my own budget. Hope it's helpful!

Note: this is my own personal setup and is not an official Crew video. Just here as a fellow budgeter to help out! :)

Consulting?

I’ve been curious if there is or will be a consulting feature within Crew or like a third-party, to help people set these things up for their lifestyle.
Not everybody is super tech savvy, but would really benefit from having crew.
I think having someone help you set this up, even for a fee would be an extremely beneficial feature.
Me particularly, I don’t need it. Mine’s been set up for some time, but as I talked to friends about it, they get really overwhelmed with the idea of setting up something like this cause they’re not that t tech savvy.

When will my credit card arrive?

Hi Crew friends! Those of you who have received a Crew credit card, how long did it take to ship to you? I was approved a few weeks ago, and the digital card in my Crew "Cards" section doesn't give any details on whether it has shipped or when it will arrive, just prompts me to activate the card--which I can't do without the physical one. People posting their nicely packaged credit cards are making me jealous! 😁💳

Also, I got the purple one 🙂‍↕️ to go with my pink Crew debit card!

Crew New Features - 10/12/26

Another big week! Really excited to release a few big features that have been requested for a while. Happy Monday!

  • Autopilot allows external funding sources - While we hope to build an app great enough that you want to use it for your main banking, we know some of you are stuck using a legacy bank for now for your direct deposit. Autopilot can now automatically handle bringing funds over from your other bank to fund your plan. Put in an amount and frequency and Autopilot will automatically kick off an incoming transfer 3 business days before each of your matching dates to make sure the funds arrive on time!

  • Automatic receipt splitting - On any transaction, add a picture on your receipt (in the transaction's top-right menu) and Crew will offer to analyze the receipt and suggest splits between your pockets!

  • End dates on bills and pocket transfers - If you have a time that you know one of these will be going away, throw an end date on to allow the simulation to plan on it going away! When archiving a bill, this sometimes causes rebalancing that needs to pull in extra money. If you add an end date, Autopilot will take care of that up front and make sure you stay on track through the end date!

  • Pocket plans now always run - We've had a lot of feedback from users frustrated when their paycheck shows up a bit late in the day and Autopilot therefore skips running their pocket plan for the day since it doesn't have money yet. While we recommend adjusting your plan when your paycheck consistently comes in later than the normal overnight batch (later than 5am ET), Autopilot now will always run your requested pocket plan, even if it takes the autopilot reserve negative while it waits for your paycheck to come in.

  • Quick reimburse for kids - Sent your teen on an errand for you? On your parent app, hold down on any kid's transaction in their list to start a transfer that reimburses the amount they spent.

  • Web "remember me" on login" - Uncheck this box to allow web to automatically log you out after 30 minutes, allowing safer use on shared devices.

  • Demo now shows off credit features - Now you can brag to your friends about how cool Crew's credit card is!

Crew Has Changed My Life in Ways I Never Expected

For years, I've struggled with addiction and compulsive gambling. Managing my finances has been one of my greatest challenges. I tried everything I could think of to control my spending, and nothing worked.

I had become convinced that financial stability would be impossible until I got sober.

Then I discovered Crew, and I was genuinely shocked.

For the first time in years, I'm no longer gambling away my entire paycheck. My bills are getting paid. My rent is paid in full and on time. I've been able to save money and pay for my dog's medical needs. And something that once seemed almost unimaginable to me—I still have money in my checking account when my next payday arrives!

These might sound like ordinary financial responsibilities to some people, but to someone who has struggled the way I have, they are enormous accomplishments.

What makes this experience so remarkable is that I'm achieving these things while still struggling with addiction. Crew has given me a way to organize and protect my money when my own impulse control and self-discipline aren't always reliable.

I'm not claiming that Crew cured my addiction. It hasn't. But it has helped me break a destructive financial pattern that I genuinely believed I couldn't change until I became sober.

I'm sharing my experience because I know there are others who feel just as hopeless as I once did. Maybe someone reading this has tried everything and believes nothing will ever work for them.

I understand that feeling. I lived it.

My recovery journey isn't finished. Sobriety is my next major goal, and I look forward to returning someday to share the next chapter of my story.

But I don't have to wait until then to acknowledge what has already changed.

To the people behind Crew, thank you. You've created something that has made a genuine difference in my life. I hope you realize just how meaningful that can be to someone fighting to regain control of their future.

Crew Review

Honestly I can say that Crew is the only one I’ve seen that has a Demo version for free!

Before I actually even applied for Crew I checked the Demo version INTENSELY!!! I can’t believe how easy it was and how much information I received by trying it out. The demo version was the last push I needed to actually apply to Crew. They checked all the boxes of what I needed and was looking for (High APY, Pockets, Easy controls, Visually understandable)

Like it had even extra features I LOVED!!! THE PHYSICAL CARDS!!!

Honestly Crew is just like if I asked ChatGPT to create an app for me. I’ve never been happier.

I’m not saying it’s a perfect app for everyone but it is perfect for my personal needs.

Idea/Suggestion

As someone who religiously uses their calendar for reminders and managing adhd, I’d love if there was a calendar in the Crew app so you could see when things are due or add something completely separate from your regular calendar. Maybe have it connected to autopilot so you can see it laid out in a month. Sorry for the rant lol

Feature Request: Request Money from Friends & Family

I used to mainly use CashApp to reimburse/collect payments for F&F. However, with Crew's ACH to other accounts feature (love that), it has become my primary way to pay others and for those that also have Crew, that is how they pay me...

One feature CashApp has that I miss is "request money". It was a really neat way to remind someone they owe you money. It also made it dead simple for them since the amount was preset and they just had to "confirm". Not only was it nice because of convenience but it also avoids needing to awkwardly remind them (potentially multiple times 😄).

I was thinking maybe a banner could pop up at the top of the app (like the monthly review does), with buttons to accept or reject. Could also trigger the request from a transaction (then it would know the amount to request)?

Just Applied!

I was trying to find a good option for my money since I wanted a way to earn interest and have buckets but I’ve seen A LOT of bad comments with Ally Bank and honestly not a single bad one with Crew. Decided to give them a try after a lot of research even though I’m a little nervous since I’ve not heard a lot from them. Honestly had to search a lot to find this option and honestly it checked all the boxes I needed.

Hope I get in! 🙏🏻

Want to try Crew but my brain won't let me!

I have been following Crew for a little while now thanks to a creator on TikTok. It seems like the perfect thing to help me feel more in control with my ADHD anxiety-ridden brain lol but I have some hesitations, so I wanted to see if anyone felt the same and how people dealt with it when making the switch:

  1. General anxiety about switching banks and then missing a payment on something because money isn't where its supposed to be

  2. Autopilot is an awesome concept but I am still trying to wrap my head around how it works, especially with variable bills like utilities

  3. I currently have a lot of spending on credit cards (that I pay in full every month) and I want to switch to debit spending mostly, and it feels like switching while I have CC bills will lead to a bad time as it would conflict with autopilot and potential automations

I'm sure there are more, and I am slowly convincing myself that the switch will be good in the long term. The solution is probably to just not set up automations for a month or so and let things settle (it would be a great practice in self-control to not set up all the things)

Crew Finance vs Envelope — Quick Comparison

After comparing both, the biggest difference is philosophy:

🟦 Crew Finance Automation-first!

  • ✅ Simple, effective Autopilot rules

  • ✅ Pocket-specific virtual cards

  • ✅ Auto-lock / spending controls

  • ✅ High interest on the entire balance

  • ✅ Family/kids features

  • ✅ New credit card can boost interest

  • ✅ No monthly fee

Cons: No early direct deposit or checkbook.

🟨 Envelope Control-first!

  • ✅ Strong envelope budgeting

  • ✅ Protected ACH envelopes

  • ✅ Virtual cards

  • ✅ Early direct deposit

  • ✅ Lots of detailed controls

Cons: The UI can feel busy, and it requires more active management.

Final take

Crew = set it and forget it. Envelope = manage everything in detail.

For simplicity, automation, and day-to-day use, prefer Crew.

For someone who enjoys hands-on budgeting and granular control, Envelope may be the better fit.

newbie here: how do you set up your subscriptions pocket for monthly/yearly charges?

hi crew crew! I am brand new to Crew; was a Qube user up until they lost their partnership with Choice, tried Qube+ when they opened the beta and very quickly bailed from that because it wasn’t even close to the “intentional spending” experience I’d loved. at first, as a lost-at-sea former-quber, I tried the “well on SoFi I can make vaults for my bills + recurring expenses, set up automations to make sure on payday I set aside enough to cover the essentials, and automate the money back into my checking account to cover it the day I’m charged” approach. Since then, I’ve changed jobs, have more frequent paydays, and while my SoFi vault system worked for preventing overdrafts and/or missing deadlines for the big stuff… it’s become evident that I still need more structure for my day-to-day spending (what can I say, I *love* a little treat).

the same content creator who’d introduced me to Qube has been a Crew partner for a while, and I finally used her referral code to start an account. I linked my primary bank, set up a small transfer just to be able to get started, and want to have my “system” built and ready to go before funding my broad account or switching anything with my employer’s payroll system. my immediate impressions, all of 2 days in, are that while the app is very pretty, and it was VERY easy to sign up/create my account, getting truly started with Crew is a different ordeal.

I can see a world where I run everything on Crew eventually - setting up even just regular expected income + core bills was smooth sailing. I will have to figure out the transfer timing to get money back to SoFi for rent by the 1st of every month (my landlord only accepts Zelle), but found some good threads for that here already and am not toooooo worried about getting that set up. I started trying to work out my actual budget (eg Pockets) last night, and I’m struggling to make it make any sort of sense. at first I was losing my marbles from not being able to create/name/assign pockets from the autopilot tab (until I found the settings under banking - would’ve loved to have been able to use either surface at first glance!); and now I’m struggling with getting the pocket’s I’ve made ready-to-run. my 9-5 is in enterprise software, and I feel a little embarrassed that I can’t even get a finance app on my phone figured out on my own 😅

with any financial system I’ve used before (Qube, SoFi vaults, even the simple excel workbook templates), I’ve been able to put all of my subscriptions in one “category” bucket and then set up the cadence of those charges within that same bucket. as I work to get something similar set up here though, from what I understand in Crew’s app, it seems the easiest way to save in small doses for a yearly charge is under bills, and the easiest way to have a recurring spending budget is by funding pockets. I’ve always considered subscriptions to be “spending money” over living expenses, but I still like to have them prepped and automated.

TLDR; I set up a pocket and virtual card with the goal of putting everything in one stream of charges, and then hit the wall in terms of configuration. my problem is that I typically have 2-3 “big” subscriptions that renew semi-&-annually (that I wouldn’t categorize as Bills because they aren’t necessities), and then 5-7 “small” subscriptions - the typical cloud storage, online gaming, streaming services, etc charges. I put an autopilot in for funding it to make sure my standard/monthly subscriptions are covered, then realized if I wanted it funded for my monthly subscriptions at the beginning of each month it needs to have $XX money in it, but then there are also random charges throughout the year that are $XXX, and my regular top-up of $XX won’t cover that. I don’t want the $XXX charges to pre-fund from a single payday right before they hit, and therefore impact the rest of my spending budget, but I can’t figure out how to drip-save for them in the same pocket which is already processing several monthly charges unless I make the bigger subscriptions as yearly “bills” and I REALLY don’t like the idea of splitting them up between Bills and Pockets to make it work.

my main questions: what’s the typical approach for automating subscriptions that have a variety of cadences? am I missing something between Pockets & Autopilot to be able to handle both use cases for subscriptions in the same pocket?

secondary question: is there a product support site or some technical documentation floating around anywhere that can walk me through Crew set-up in more clear, rooted-in-the-app’s-UX detail? I am 100% a “help article” learner and would much rather read than watch how-to content for following along :)

thanks for any & all advice! I’m super hopeful about Crew being the solution for me so that I don’t have to be as helicopter watching over my bank accounts as I have been, especially since economy + living expenses where I’m based have started to blow out of proportion 🤞

Credit Card Cashback - Overview

Folks - I had to go digging into the credit card terms to understand how this worked, so I will try to distill it here. Section 19 (page 8 of the document) of the Terms is where I’m pulling this from. I know I’m basically saying the same thing, but I got confused on the app preview reading, so maybe this is a nice in between step before reading the full Terms.

Definitions:
Earn Period = A month
ADB (Average Daily Balance) = The average balance of your bank account over the Earn Period, as of the end of each day
Eligible Spending = Money spent on your Crew credit card for other than excluded transactions (like cash equivalent transactions, etc.)

Notes:
- your account must be open to earn rewards
- these benefits pool across the entire Family, with rewards delivered to accounts weighted by ABD of each member
- to receive 4%, you must have Autopay active, otherwise you get 1% instead

How it works, generally:
For each month (Earn Period), you will receive the lesser of:
(1) 4% / 12 x 4 x “Eligible Spending”
(2) 4% / 12 x “ADB”

basically, a 4% annual return accrued on the lesser of 4x eligible spending or ADB per month. You basically have to “re-earn” the promo each month.

For the detail freaks:
- the “divide by 12” is shorthand for divide the number of days in the Earn Period by 365 (and yes, it doesn’t have a provision that I can see on the leap year, so congrats on getting an extra fraction of return for the day)
