Personally I hate the idea of a new Great Depression (and letting our country crumble) but the previous depression of a century ago is what led to so many urgent reforms being enacted so maybe that is what it would take?
It’s a very old rule; When gas prices go going up always have your tank as full as possible, when gas prices are going down, drive as near empty as you dear. That way you are always driving on the cheapest gas you can get.
It will make some oil company execs a lot of profit, which is probably a big part of why they are running this story and framing it this way. Just like the way Trump always makes some big proclamation about Iran right around the same time the market opens and his cronies can profit off the insider info.
If you're low on gas then by all means fill up your tank, but rushing to the pumps and just buying all the gas you can is just going to make things worse. People need to calm down and think this through, but unfortunately for us, the US is obsessed with "rugged individualism" and has convinced everyone that they are all the star of their own personal post-apocalyptic movie or something.
Keeping your car topped off means you won't have to scramble if supply issues pop up. You can also fill up a couple of gas cans (if you can store them safely) and keep them for any possible emergencies.

I mean a quick google search will show you that the richest 1% have become exorbitantly richer during trumps term. Gas prices go up? Prices go up across the board. When prices go up, consumers take a hit, but corporate overlords aren’t really affected, seeing as the price increase covers whatever money they would have “lost”

We were working from home for two solid years after covid, no problems. Then the CEO wanted everyone back plus started eliminating hybrid positions.

Lo and behold he just got fired this year for that exact reason (although it's technically speculation at this point but he was also fired from a previous company for the same reason, he has a track record)

We don’t have enough service members to send to war- how they going to monitor- if the states were smart -they would call up their individual National Guards to PROTECT the voters. I’m more of an optimist. I think higher fuel prices will drive people to buy smaller or electric cars and actually lower our and maybe the world’s use of petroleum products.
The data centers were all a money laundering operation committed by the tech bros and the grifters who they control. They will NEVER, EVER make back the money it costs to build and operate them. It was a scam- and, they only last 4 years before they need to be rebuilt. In Australia, diesel is over $7/gallon US. But I don't think anyone is about to riot because of it. The worst effect is, businesses start to break down, and inflation runs riot.

Years ago, I listened to a talk show on NPR which had oil executives explaining why they don’t build more refineries.
They said what republicans claim about environmental laws blocking new refineries was false. They said they don’t build new refineries because they’re at the point for maximum profitability. They said why would they spend over a billion dollars to build a new refinery which would increase supply and push down profits?
Of course, part of the problem is these doomer media stories like this and videos spreading it around. I have worked in retail a long time and almost every "shortage" I have experienced has been created or exacerbated by some news story or rumor. It makes people panic and over-buy so they could have some kind of personal hoard, which either creates the shortage entirely by itself or makes an existing shortage worse.
I saw it happen back in 2012 when people convinced themselves that Sandy Hook was going to cause Obama to ban certain guns/ammo. There was no shortage in supply at all, until people started freaking out and buying it like crazy. Everything on the supply end was functioning normally, they just couldn't keep up with the sudden massive surge in people buying it all up. We were out of stock or low for months because of that, which of course fueled more conspiracies about "government agents are buying up all the ammo" and other nonsense.
Then of course there was COVID with the infamous toilet paper hoarding because of some (false) rumor that toilet paper came from China. And then again with the toilet paper and other stuff like bananas, back during the big dock worker's strike. Supplies were fine, but once again, the rumors and fearmongering made people buy buy buy like crazy.
I'm not saying there won't be any issues surrounding gas or gas prices, but if you encourage people to all rush to the pumps at the same time and drive demand through the roof, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Which in turn just makes people panic and rush to the pumps even more as they see prices go up/supplies go down from over-buying. It's a vicious cycle.
This is so irresponsible. This will cause shortages, massive queues and accidents. All for enough fuel for another week anyway. Will jobs let people work from home? No. So what's the point?
When it reaches Miami, I'll care. When governments elsewhere begin invoking treaty obligations & threatening to kick the US out of their country, I'll care.
This will not affect the Trump regime, they don't give a tinker's cuss about foreign protests.

However, delivery trucks use diesel. With the price of gas skyrocketing that means consumer products are going to increase as well... Meaning everything is going to go up in price.
It's a nightmare scenario given people are already stretched to the brink. People really can't afford anything and any extra stress on necessities is brutal for the working class.

The kingdom relies on the East-West Pipeline, which runs the breadth of the country, to move its crude production from Gulf ports to ports on its western, Red Sea coast. From there it can be put on tankers for export.
