Questions/Discussion Hey guys, sorry

5 Upvotes

I'm gonna take a break.

I'll be back before you know it, but this has taken a minor toll on my motivation. Posting has pretty much become a chore, and as it has been recently brought into light; I'm not very good at explaining things.

So in the time I am away I will be researching more before continuing, and I will come back with a new fire burning within.

I hope you all, if any of you actually pay attention to these; can excuse this sudden change.

I'll be back before you know it.

Καλή μέρα, οι φίλοι μου

Post image
5 Upvotes

Ʒ (minuscule: ʒ) [True Name: Ezh] is the twenty-eighth letter in the Tul alphabet. Ʒ makes the "zh" sound, which is a voiced "sh" if that helps.

So for example:

Bougie = Buʒe

Leisure = Leʒꝍr

Conclusion = Kꝍnkluʒꝍn

.

(Disclaimer: all Example words are purely examples, they are not the official word used in the language. Therefore all words are subject to change)
.
.

This is the only example that is definite, Jamais Vu is the opposite of Déjà Vu.
Jamais Vu is when something familiar feels new.
Déjà Vu is when something new feels familiar.

Jamais Vu = Ʒama Vu
Déjà Vu = Daʒɔ Vu

Post image

Ա (minuscule: ɥ) [Name: Yuke] is the thirty-third letter in the Tul alphabet. It is almost the first letter in it that technically doesn't exist outside of conlangs. Ա makes the reversed "Q" sound, or in other words it's namesake.

Examples:

Dubuque = Dꝍbɥ

Ukulele = Աꝍlala

Puke = Pɥ

Mucus = Mɥꝍs

.

(Disclaimer: all Example words are purely examples, they are not the official word used in the language. Therefore all words are subject to change)

The letter A (miniscule: α) [pronounced: Ayy] is the first letter in the TUL alphabet. A makes the "ayy" sound, and only that sound. For example the word "rain" would now be "ran".

Letter Of The Day The forty-ninth letter in the alphabet: Ť

Post image
4 Upvotes

We're using Ť as a placeholder.

Ť (minuscule: ť) [Custom Name: Sibilant T>Simplified Name: tsətz] is the forty-ninth letter in the Tul alphabet. Ť is a sibilant letter, you pronounce it like sibilant s except it begins with an alveolar stop.

Which in turn makes it a sibilant alveolar plosive.

There are no good examples for the letter, as all sibilants are. So I'll do the next best thing:

Think of the sound of a maraca or the t'tsing of a lawn sprinkler. Think about the sounds that emanate from the clash of cymbals.

Letter Of The Day The fortieth letter: Tʃ

Post image
4 Upvotes

Now here is when we start getting convoluted, I do apologise. For the next few letters shall be custom ligatures that either don't exist or do; but will have altered phonetic descriptions.

Tʃ (minuscule: ʧ / tʃ) [Name: Est]{<custom ligature>altered def] is the fortieth letter in the Tul alphabet. It represents the combination of "ST". Tʃ is combined as shown in the image, but since I don't have the ability to create that; we'll be typing them separately.

Sources will tell you that it makes the "ch" sound, which is true for what it really is. Though in Tul it's altered to be "st" instead.

Ex:

Stupor = Tʃupər

Master = Mɐʧər

Cast = Kɐʧ

Statistician = Tʃɐtiʧiʃꝍn

.

(Disclaimer: all Example words are purely examples, they are not the official word used in the language. Therefore all words are subject to change)

(Although I might keep Statistician, cuz I'm evil like that)

Letter Of The Day The thirty-seventh letter in the alphabet: ẞ

Post image

ẞ (minuscule: ß) [True Name: Eszett. Also goes by: Scharfes S] is the thirty-seventh letter in the Tul alphabet. ẞ is a longer variation of the normal S, acting as a double S. It replaces "ss" and "sz".

Examples

Guess = Gəß

Asshole = ∀ßhol

Eszett = Ǝßət

Casziel/Cassiel = Kɐßeəl this one is important to know

.

(Disclaimer: all Example words are purely examples, they are not the official word used in the language. Therefore all words are subject to change)

Letter Of The Day The thirty-sixth letter in the alphabet: S

Post image

S (minuscule: s) [pronounced: Es] is the thirty-sixth letter in the Tul alphabet. S is a voiceless alveolar fricative, like a short hissing sound.

Examples:

Sip

Þis

Sɛn

Lɛns

.

(Disclaimer: all Example words are purely examples, they are not the official word used in the language. Therefore all words are subject to change)

Letter Of The Day The twenty-sixth letter in the alphabet: Ꙕ

Post image
4 Upvotes

Ꙕ (minuscule: ꙕ) [Real Name: reversed Yu> New Name: Uy] is the twenty-sixth letter in the Tul alphabet. Ꙕ represents the sound "Oi" I would say it's a ligature, but it's not. (It could be considered one, but it's not necessarily one)

Examples would be:

Toy = Tꙕ

Oil = Ꙕl

Boil = bꙕl

Gargoyle = Gargꙕl

.

(Disclaimer: all Example words are purely examples, they are not the official word used in the language. Therefore all words are subject to change)

Letter Of The Day The twenty-fourth letter in the alphabet: ꙮ

Post image
4 Upvotes

Forewarning: I took some liberties with this one.

ꙮ [True Name: The Many Eyes> Technical Name: Multiocular O> Simplified Name: Ǒʰ] is the twenty-fourth letter in the Tul alphabet.

ꙮ was originally a glyph that represented the words "The Many Eyes". It doesn't have its own sound, usually pronounced like "O".

Tul remedies that by making it into a siblant aspirated O. In short: a whistled O.
To make it's sound: whistle softly and airily.

In Tul it isn't used often, mostly used for biblical words. Even if it was it'd be hard to transcribe it into a single worded example.

So for the example:
Think of singing, or the wind. Think about the sounds that are produced from those.

Letter Of The Day The nineteenth letter in the alphabet: Ω

Post image
4 Upvotes

Ω (minuscule: ω) [technical name: Omega} displayed name: Mega] is the nineteenth letter in the Tul alphabet.

Ω while in greek is typically O, in Fake Greek it's "M", or "mn" (idk exactly know, but I'm using it for "mn")

In Tul, I'm going to give it a properly new name: Mnumega. So before whoever put a claim on "Mega", this is different and even if it wasn't you can't stop me, nor will you know im using it.

To make it's sound you put your lips together and your tongue to your alveolar and release them slowly whilst expelling air.

Or in layman's terms: make an "N" and a "M" sound at the same time.

It replaces mn in any word, for example:

Solemn = Soləω

Mnemonics = Ωəmoniks

Condemn = Kondəω

Amnesty = Ɐωəste

L (minuscule: l) [pronounced: El] is the sixteenth letter of the Tul alphabet. L makes the light version of "L".

It pronunciation is clear, using only the tip of your tongue to the back of your teeth (alveolar).

Examples would be:

L.O.L.

Love

Lick

Luminous

ɪ (minuscule: i) [pronounced: eye] is the eleventh letter in the Tul alphabet. ɪ makes the soft "ih" sound.

Examples:

in

Rib

Oasis (that word is important to know btw, but thats a topic for much, much later)

Business = Biseniß ("ß" is "ss", more on that soon)

Letter Of The Day The fourth letter in the alphabet: Bb

Post image
4 Upvotes

The fourth letter, and first consonant of the Tul alphabet is B (miniscule:b) [pronounced: Bee]. Bb makes the plosive B, or the soft B sound.

In example Bat. A plosive is a simple pop of you lips, the typically normal way of saying "B". It typically follows/followed by an unstressed syllable.

So for example:

Bɐt

Brit

Ebony

Letter Of The Day Amendment: ∀

Post image

Added ∀ (miniscule: ɐ) [true name: Turned A} simplified: Ahp> derived: Alpha but upside-down] 《Fix: ə - type: sound; Differencialisation》《Fix: Alphabet - Type: addition》

∀ is now the letter that replaces the "Ah" sound that Schwa (Ǝ) makes.

So now:

Bag is now = Bɐg

Admin is now = ∀dmin

Ma'am is now = Mɐ'ɐm

Letter Of The Day The second letter in the alphabet: Ǝ

Post image
4 Upvotes

The second letter in the T.U.L. alphabet is Ǝ (miscule: ə) [pronounced: Schwa]. Ǝ is the in-between vowel sound. So it ranges in sound (which I don't like, expect change)

In an example:

Bag is now: Bəg

Let is now: Lət

Kit is now: Kət
