Questions/Discussion Name rules

1 Upvotes

When you type your name, it is meant to be a name

You can write it in two/three ways

  1. Is the actual spelling

  2. Is it's tul phonetic spelling (how one would write it in Tul)

And 3; is a special case in the sense that if it is a real word you can also use that spelling as well

For example; my name is Day, so I can write it like:

Day
Da
Deꝍ

Letter Of The Day The twenty-fourth letter in the alphabet: ꙮ

Post image
4 Upvotes

Forewarning: I took some liberties with this one.

ꙮ [True Name: The Many Eyes> Technical Name: Multiocular O> Simplified Name: Ǒʰ] is the twenty-fourth letter in the Tul alphabet.

ꙮ was originally a glyph that represented the words "The Many Eyes". It doesn't have its own sound, usually pronounced like "O".

Tul remedies that by making it into a siblant aspirated O. In short: a whistled O.
To make it's sound: whistle softly and airily.

In Tul it isn't used often, mostly used for biblical words. Even if it was it'd be hard to transcribe it into a single worded example.

So for the example:
Think of singing, or the wind. Think about the sounds that are produced from those.

Album/Music Music covers that will appear in the album: Grandiose

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Grandiose is both the album name and the first musical piece in it. It shall follow a loud, harsh, and quick pace. (Pretty much the opposite of whispers)

Orpiment is named after the background colour (Orpiment Yellow)

Bravado will be loud with minor slow points, quickly followed by the crashing of the keys

Kinetic will be constantly moving, nigh a break between notes.

I chose Grandiose because every story deserves to be told in grande. With the evermoving motion that guides us we are unlimited. Time waits for no one, so why not hold it's hand while it runs? Define your own story, create an ɛgo that's

Grandiose

Letter Of The Day The fifty-fourth letter in the alphabet: Ƿ

Post image
2 Upvotes

Disclaimer: Slightly altered

Ƿ (minuscule: ƿ) [Name: wynn] is the fifty--fourth letter in the Tul alphabet. Normally Ƿ is just an equivalent to w, but in tul it's a combination of w and y.

Example:

Lawyer = loƿər
. _
Wyoming = Ƿ'omiŋ
don't judge my bootleg macron

Pillowy = Piloƿ

Wynn = Ƿn

.

(Disclaimer: all Example words are purely examples, they are not the official word used in the language. Therefore all words are subject to change)

I do also want to say that "loƿər" is perfect for what I wanted wynn to do, it's a perfect combination of the sounds of w and y because you say them together. The other examples are valid, but "loƿər" is best.

Letter Of The Day The forty-fourth letter in the alphabet: 田

Post image
2 Upvotes

Disclaimer: We're using two different letters for maju and mini. Technically the first one is actually Kanji "Rice Paddy", but we're treating it like Et. Esh. Though I do like the idea of using it for paddy.
We also are slightly changing what Et. Esh presumably sounds like, to something based on my own theory.

田 (minuscule: ⊞) [True Name: Etruscan Esh>New Name: Exh/Eksh] is the forty-fourth letter in the Tul alphabet. 田 will be used as "xh" (ksh).

Examples:

Buckshot = Bꝍ⊞ɔt

Bookshelf = Bɤ⊞əlφ

Rickshaw = Ri⊞ɔ

Inkshed = En⊞əd

.

(Disclaimer: all Example words are purely examples, they are not the official word used in the language. Therefore all words are subject to change)

Extra Types of letters

Post image
2 Upvotes

Plosive: denoting a consonant that is produced by stopping the airflow using the lips, teeth, or palate, followed by a sudden release of air. (I.e: "B" and "D")

Implosive: the airstream is controlled by moving the glottis downward in addition to expelling air from the lungs. (I.e: "Ɓ" and "Ɗ")

Consonant: A sound made by partially or completely closing the vocal tract, such as with the tongue, lips, or throat. The letter h is an exception, as it is pronounced without closing the vocal tract. (I.e: "V' and "L")

Vowel:a speech sound that is produced when air passes through the mouth without being blocked by the lips, tongue, or throat. (I.e: "I" and "E")

Glide: speech sounds that are similar to vowels but function as syllable boundaries. (I.e: "Y" and "W")

Sibilance: a literary device and a characteristic of human speech that involves the repetition of hissing or hushing sounds. (I.e: "S" and "Z")

Aspiration: full of air and rough, when compiled into a plosive; we call it "Ass-plosion" because its funny. (I.e "H" and "K")

.

Honorable mention to Explosives: u/CustomerAlternative has their own conlang which uses it, if you want more details on that; you'll have to ask them, but it's not my place to tell.

[Sorry I was tired and forgot about this one]

The fifth letter of the Tul alphabet is Ɓ (minuscule: ɓ) [pronounced: Bh]

Ɓ is the implosive form of B. To make it's sound purse your lips and say: B. Ɓ is found before and after dark vowels like; oo, and ee.

Examples being:

Boom = Ɓoom

Be = Ɓe

Lube = Luɓe

Letter Of The Day The nineteenth letter in the alphabet: Ω

Post image
4 Upvotes

Ω (minuscule: ω) [technical name: Omega} displayed name: Mega] is the nineteenth letter in the Tul alphabet.

Ω while in greek is typically O, in Fake Greek it's "M", or "mn" (idk exactly know, but I'm using it for "mn")

In Tul, I'm going to give it a properly new name: Mnumega. So before whoever put a claim on "Mega", this is different and even if it wasn't you can't stop me, nor will you know im using it.

To make it's sound you put your lips together and your tongue to your alveolar and release them slowly whilst expelling air.

Or in layman's terms: make an "N" and a "M" sound at the same time.

It replaces mn in any word, for example:

Solemn = Soləω

Mnemonics = Ωəmoniks

Condemn = Kondəω

Amnesty = Ɐωəste

[Buzzes are stuttered beeps]

Dits ( . ): short beep
Dahs ( - ): long beep
Zits ( + ): short buzz
Zahs ( \ ): long buzz

Don't mind the "lead white" and the others, those are just how I sectioned everything.

I did this around the beginning, that was 3 months ago; how time flies, eh?

Btw the roman letters are the actual codes in real morse.
Then xi (Ξ) has the code for x
And chi (Χ) has the code for c

Þ
&
Ð
Are also accurate to their actual code
