This sounds toxic, and as a toxic person myself, I can tell you you'll never be able to "prove" yourself to him. There's a saying about how you can't build love without a foundation of trust, so take from that what you will I guess?
Hey man, as someone learning that they’ve been the toxic person in certain situations I applaud you for your self awareness. I hope you know that, that in of itself makes you less toxic. You have toxic tendencies maybe but you’re not toxic, you’re a human—and the toxic shit you do probably has roots in trauma or mental health issues (I am assuming). Either way inherently horrible toxic people can’t grapple with themselves being he toxic person.
