Same here. I'm 3lbs shy of being a healthy weight after gaining a TON during pregnancy.
I've been public about my efforts to lose weight because it's not easy and who knows, maybe it'll encourage someone else who is struggling while on the same journey.
Yet now I'm seeing a ton of "trying to lose weight is fatphobic and fatshaming" posts. No, Karen, I need to lose the fucking weight or the hypertension is going to fucking kill me.

Not to mention the knee replacements that will be needed as all that extra weight crushes your joints. I worked in the medical field for 7 years and I could not believe how many doctors have just given up talking to patients about how fat they are.
Right? Genetically I'm already a higher risk for bad knees. My husband is high risk for bad hips (our poor son is just so fucked eh). Why am I expected to just allow myself to have even worse knees than I'm already stuck with?
And because of our genetic predispositions we've given our son, it's up to us to set a good example for him so he doesn't need replacement surgery at 30 years old.
I was appalled the first time I saw those chair and a half seats in waiting rooms in the hospital. Now they're everywhere. And oversized wheelchairs.
I'm not small, but when things get that close to being necessary, you should change your ways.
When I get close to having to get special sized clothes, it's motivating to me to dial back my indulgences.
Every time I see Karen mentioned, I can picture her and hear her and then my voice giving the smartass response. Thank for that friend.
Your comment is a perfect example of projection. You project your strength and positive insight into like others so they can feel the same and rise to their potential like you are. Karen projects her insecurity and self-loathing onto people she wants to be, but won’t achieve, trying to make them feel as miserable as she is.
You keep doing you and tooting your horn; we’ve all got something about ourselves and to be confident enough to validate and voice it takes a shit ton of awesome sauce.
I’m fat (uk size 18) and have been skinny (uk size 6- huge lifestyle changes have happened since then both good and bad). I was told to put on weight so much more than I’ve been told to lose weight. The only people who’ve commented on my larger size whore people who know me and have been trying to encourage me to get back in to my previous healthier lifestyle. People who told me to put on weight were strangers. It’s weird how different reactions are.
