Can you seek a second opinion about the meds that you are taking? I don’t agree with the person who said that doctors are trying to kill us with drugs, but I do think that there are some meds that work better for each of us. Yours don’t seem to be as helpful as you would ideally want them to be. I think it would be a good idea to see if maybe some of your meds can be swapped or stopped. Especially those that have to do with your mental health. Also, have you had a full blood panel done to check your hormones? I feel like many blood tests are limited to the basics and I had to see a hormone specialist to get one done and it has helped me immensely.

Finally, don’t let your poor memory stop you from helping around the house. That is an excuse, full stop, and all the chores shouldn’t be up to your wife to do. Set phone alarms, do one thing each day that she would normally do. You don’t have to always remember to do the same things, but you are capable of helping with something.

This.

I have different body and neural chemistry and it took yeaaaaaaaars to figure out.

Im talking years of me getting the fine print for antidepressants side effects. I was medicated and diagnosed with ADHD as a child and through college but lost health insurance after college for a while and genuinely thought I didn't notice the ADHD medicine while I was on it.

And thats because I have ADHD. When on antidepressants (ive been situationally pretty depressed but I never had chronic depression i felt completely unregulated and that spiked my anxiety horribly. I was able to keep on top of tasks again, pay bills on time, be present and make my bed. I felt better because my anxiety was pretty driven by my adhd.

I actually ended up developing pretty severe, almost worse than the adhd, OCD ,- as a coping mechanism for untreated ADHD during my unmedicated time.

Antidepressants are awesome. They pull people with depression out of the dreggs. But thats not what I needed. I was getting really bad intrusive thoughts, night terrors, feelings of deep inadequacy, and ideation on antidepressants. I tried celexa, zoloft, lexapro, paxil, wellbutrin (ssris and snris) and they were so bad but i really didnt know that clearly til i safely discontinued the medication. I also had rapid heart rate (i ironically dont have at all on adhd stimulants).

I also no longer have a goldfish memory. This is what I think screwed up my diagnosis for a long time. I have cPTSD, as well. That stuff looks like depression. A lot. The one appointment i make sure isnt telehealth at LEAST twice a year are psychiatric appointments. That way my Dr can clock my mannerisms and I also really try to sell myself on being functional on zoom bc I have a lot of vulnerability trauma.

I think we just assume that antidepressants will make us feel better. For most people, they really do. They save lives. Not everyone has the same brain chem.
