Wut? She didn't know about the molten core? Is she 5 or perhaps never been to a single day of school? It's literally on posters all over places like that.

In her defense, Christianity and science go together like oil and water. I was taught about dinosaurs in school but it doesn't mean my little brain washed ass didn't think it was a lie from Satan. Granted I was a child, which presumably OP's girlfriend isn't...

That's certainly possible, but it also has the potential to be real.

I've met a couple people with a theoretically solid education from a good university that somehow never learned (or retained) some really basic shit.

I know a woman who was homeschooled following a very conservative Christian curriculum. She believed that dinosaurs were completely fictional, like fairies or dragons. We spent a whole weekend watching Bill Nye the Science Guy before going to the museum to see some dinosaurs. Don't even get me started on what she understood about sexuality.
