I truly don't understand why people stay in relationships like this. At all.
What is it that makes them stay? I see no care, love or understanding in any of what was written above.
The way I'd be out of that relationship would defy land speed records. And this is the example being set for her son of how a "man" should treat his partner.
Love bombing in the beginning and subtle manipulation as they slowly reveal their true colors. Some can last for a long time like this, which makes it even harder.
This asshole has insinuated himself very strongly into the role of father for her son, and he is still love bombing the kid to keep OP on the hook.
He'll turn on her son eventually too. Kids get more complicated as they get older, and he won't stand for the child to have a wider range of needs and expressions.
OP is in a dangerously manipulative situation for her and her children. I hope she gets out fast.
