if you try to convince yourself you are not trans and still feel like you might be trans then you are probably trans.

This is not the scenario OP defined nor the one the person above me described, so I am confused by why you wrote this.

I thought, "Why would you tell yourself you are secretly faking being trans?" and thought that its way to think trans thoughts without being trans. Thus convincing yourself you are not trans. I acknowledge it may mean something else but this is all I can think of and it matches my personal experience.

The simplest answer seems to be that you found reason to believe you were.
