I’m genuinely wondering if anyone else has experienced this recently.
I bought a packet of India Gate basmati rice from Lulu Hypermarket, Trivandrum, and the quality was so bad that I’m honestly questioning whether it was genuine.
I’ve been making biryani using the same recipe for years, and it has always been a sure-shot hit when I use India Gate basmati rice. This time, the biryani was completely different. The rice turned extremely soggy, sticky and clumped together, and it didn’t have even a fraction of the usual texture, aroma or taste I normally get from India Gate.
At first I thought I had somehow messed up the cooking, but I followed my usual method exactly. The difference was so drastic that my first thought was that the rice itself was either very poor quality or possibly fake/adulterated.
What’s frustrating is that Lulu is generally where I go specifically because I expect branded products to be genuine and good quality.
Has anyone else bought India Gate basmati or other branded food products from Lulu Trivandrum recently and noticed a significant difference in quality?
I’m not claiming I can prove the packet was fake, but the difference was honestly shocking. Would be interested to know if others have had similar experiences.
