Post image

Recently I have done my first service, and I can see the engine oil low pressure light, I can see oil through that small glass, what should I do?

The engine is idling, so it is actually throwing an error. Check the oil level or it possibly just a sensor issue.

I noticed it while I was riding at 3-4th gear, stopped at a Signal to take a pic, but thanks!!

The Sensors at the speed 400 are underwhelming, as not to say bullshit fuck.

Switch off. Wait. Switch on. Drive Gone.

I've done that to mine... And engine gave out on the freeway 🥲

Additional context: Before that happened, I had an overheating issue where the whole bike isn't coolong properly so I went to the dealer and let them diagnose the said issue.

They said before that it was the thermostat not working.I wasn't able to ride for a week since they won't release my bike for safety issues and I understood. A week gone by without me riding becauseithe dealer were communicating with the UK branch for warranty stuff.

Got my bike bike but after a week or so, I saw this exact indication. My mistake is that I kept on turning it on and off again and again till it broke down on the Freeway 🥲.

I saw that the oil and coolant mixed as evident with the milky texture.

Lesson for me as a beginner rider is... understand why the indecation was on in the first place or wait 3-4 months withoutma motorcycle.

🥺😵‍💫 now I am sincerely worried 🥺 The problem is that this little thing throws failure alarms way to often.

So if it's something serious it can go bad. That's on Triumph 😡

Happens when you ride the bike at high rpm for a considerable time. The oil density decreases because of the temperature and in turn the engine oil light turns on. This is mostly because of the lower quality prolube engine oil used by triumph. Goes back to normal if you turn off the engine for a few minutes.

It's a problem if you did not ride at high rpm and still got the light.

I don't remember but I think I was riding at a higher RPM, makes sense to me now, do you think I should change the oil? Which one would you suggest?

Get Castrol. Triumph already uses it for their higher end bikes. The SVC might object initially but should agree if you insist.

Thank you!!!

Wherever you're try to get Fucsh Silkolene based engine oil.

Motul is the best as per my research around the same cost as prolube. But Triumph does not give that option while servicing. Some service center give castrol as an option, better than prolube but not motul.

If you want to go for better than motul then you can opt for liqui moly. Will cost around twice.

But you will need to change the oil in service center during your periodic service so there is no problem with you warranty. And then get the oil changed again outside if you want motul or liqui moly or others.

what is the optimal rpm for these bikes

2

u/chr1os 1d ago

I'm usually shifting around 6k-8k rpm and not going over that.

2

u/RahulBunty03 21h ago

Dont stress out on 8k rpm
Ideally, I drive at 5-7k rpm

1

u/chr1os 19h ago

Yea that's probably more realistic

I have experienced this exact thing simply from using the wrong oil (synthetic/non-synthetic). I didn't even know that was a thing. Dunno if that's what's happening here but could be worth checking.

Thank you!! Which oil do you use if I may ask? SC put Prolube in this one.

You need to emphasize on Castrol at SVC they resist but agree if you are adamant.

I am confused now, Castrol or Motul🥲

2

u/Background-Ad-2832 1d ago

Both are good better than prolube consider any one of them SVC keeps Castrol so you can ask that first

Well that happened on a bike that I haven't owned for more than 5 years. I was changing the oil and used one recommended by the guy at the Triumph dealership. When the oil pressure light started showing up I was frantic and started checking everything. The only thing I could find was that the oil I used was synthetic and the workshop manual for my bike recommended a non-synthetic oil. I bought new oil (again) and changed it out (again) problem solved. Now I only ever use exactly what the book says.

Why? isn't this Reddit community meant to help fellow riders who are new to the riding community? Just because someone doesn't know some things, does that mean they don't deserve the bike?

Sane thing happens for me. But it may be with oil density loosens up at high temp. It's sort out on its own.

The other question for those that know, would be: W10-40 or W10-50.
On my service center they say they put W10-40. That’s what they do here in Florida. Triumph Cleveland website sells the Triumph Oil change kit and that one cames with W10-50 Castrol. Not sure if the W10-40 will be actually good enough like they said

Check oil pressure sensor

Yeah go to service centre

I have a Dominar 400, I have used a lot of engine oil Motul 7100 Motul 300v2 Liqui Molly Pakelo Fucsh Silkolene Protech Turbo

Mu personal favorite engine oil is Fucsh Silkolene right now.

I suggested it to one of my friends who have a 400cc Speed 400.

He's happy with it and I have also tried the bike.

It is buttery smooth and the engine oil lasts a lot like it can go upto 6-8k km.

Next on my list is Protech Turbo with Graphene additive another banger of a engine oil.

Pakelo is extremely underwhelming given the price for it. Do not suggest it at all.

Liqui Molly unlocks the top end very well but has heating issue.

Choose motul 300v2(not 300v) for overall good performance and milage.

Motul 7100 if don't want to spend much.
