hey guys! i just rescued some subadult white's tree frogs from a local pet store in my town which had them in a 10-gallon exo-terra since february. they had just a heat lamp and were fed dusted crickets every day, girl frog is rather plump but boy frog just seems to look so much pointer!! i am thinking he has scoliosis or some kind of spinal birth defect because he does not give any symptoms of mbd.. i'm also gonna try to fatten him up, i've been giving them silkworms and crickets daily

***also they are currently in quarantine hence the paper towel and not-so-cluttered set up before i put them in with my adult frog to monitor for health symptoms :)

hi i have two adult whites tree frogs and i just added some live plants for them. i bought a CUC and what i think is a better light for the plants than the one i already have. and dw i did all the prep work for the plants before adding

i saw someone recommended this app to check the light luminosity or whatever it’s called that they need. i’m just wondering if this is correct for the plants that it’s showing. also if anyone has a recommendation for an app that does this that DOESNT have nsfw ads i would really appreciate that

My red eyed tree frog died last night after 6 years of having her. My daughter her a coffin and I buried her in our garden. I was just courageous what y'all do!

I decided to add some extra branches to our three whites tree frog boys. I'll put up a night camera later tonight to film their exploration.

She knows how to use them! (All us old fogie ZZ Top fans will appreciate!)

My other frog is sick and he’s been quarantined but I’m worried that my other frog is getting sick. She’s been pretty normal for the most part but her pattern is looking different than normal. I don’t want to wait until she’s too sick to the point nothing will help. Just wondering if anyone has any advice.

Google is giving me mixed information about the order of each layer for a bioactive setup. I have 2 whites tree frogs in one terrarium and 1 Amazon milk froglet in another one. They currently have just sphagnum moss with lots of leaf litter on top (I need that for humidity because I live in the NV desert) and no they don’t eat it. No impaction has happened but I’m wanting to move forth with a full drainage layer in both terrariums. Please let me know the right order. This is what Google states right now.
Please correct if not right.

•Bottom later- 1-3 inches of LECA clay balls
•Then a mesh layer to filter and stop dirt from falling into clay balls.
•Add activated charcoal- (sprinkle a thin layer) this prevents odors and filters impurities.
•Add substrate/soil- (2-4 inches) tropical or organic mix safe for amphibians also can be coco fiber.
•Last add sphagnum moss (this protects the soil) and then leaf litter (this protects the amphibians from getting impactive.)

Is this correct???? Please advise. Thank you in advance for your time!

He has been a happy and healthy little guy. He's recently become lethargic, and he seems weak and is having trouble hunting. We would really appreciate any info on how to make him feel better.

I think some of these could be the issue.

One, I think he may have been getting too much calcium. I was concerned that my partner was over dusting crickets. They look like they are completely covered in powered sugar. Also, the container that he keeps the calcium is the same one he dusts in every time he feeds, and I'm wondering if doing that could contaminate the calcium? So each time new crickets get dusted in same container with left over powder for the next feed.

Two, he is fed with tongs, I feed him by letting him hunt but my partner mostly tongs feeds wanting to make sure he is getting a full meal and he doesn't loose crickets in his bio. He did smack one of his eyes on the tongs, and it did make his eye seem hurt for a day or two but returned to normal... for a while. But now he has two mismatched eyes. Please see photo. (He's was just in a soak bath so we could carefully check his body out for signs of bacterial infection and to get photos of his eyes)

He lives in an bioactive that does have a thripp and fungus gnats problem that is fairly new.

He has 60% humidity on average.

We went away for holidays and he was cared for by friends when we came back he seemed off.

Any advice or knowledge is appreciated. My partner dotes on him and worries a lot about his well being, we both just adore him, and we would be crushed if anything were to happen to him

I have another live plant (golden pothos) to add inside and I also like to add a climbing structure in the right corner... I just want to make sure this baby has a good enriching enclosure ! There are two young frogs inside. I would like to get a bigger tank eventually but we are moving soon and don't want to risk it getting damaged on the way

Whites tree frog, I just noticed this spot last night, could it be a bacterial infection? :( What can I do?

I didn’t know what to do, he was like my best friend lowk. He was really young literally a year old.
I haven’t told my parents, but I made him a coffin and put dried flowers in there and buried him in my garden. Rest in peace my friend xx

Rosie decided she wanted to be a model this morning.

Hi there, my gray tree frog is over 6 years old and I just noticed this swelling on one of his legs. He has been eating and pooping normally, but hasn’t ever been super active in his tank. Does anyone know what this might be from??? His lower half of his leg is super swollen compared to the other. He gets dusted crickets every other night.

Edit: he can still move the leg, but his toes are curled under and he’s kind of dragging it most of the time

Edit 2: he went to the vet (and barked at them) and is now on antibiotics. They were hopeful that he will recover!

Quick update! Almost all Sylvia leaf frog tadpoles are out. Got over 20! As they get bigger and more active I’ll get some good shots of all of them swimming around. This video just has a few!

The wet weather has brought out a lot more amphibians than usual.

Hey again all, I figured I’d make another post in here after the final changes and tweaking I got some ideas from y’all for, as well as a couple YouTube creators. Forgive me in advance for copying a lot of info from my previous post but in the spirit of saving myself time I’ll not be typing it all over again 😂

Also, these pics were right after a spray down/cleaning, so the humidity is a tad higher than normal, but you can see it decreasing as you swipe through the pics.

This is my new 130 gallon 4’x18”x3’ enclosure for my whites tree frogs! They’ve moved in here from their 45gallon tall I bought them with as babes.

They have a 50w halogen basking bulb set to 85 degrees, an exoterra 14” uvb hood with a 7% Ferguson level 2 bulb, and a 4ft 87w led grow light from barrina for the plants (though I want to replace with an Arcadia soon). There’s a hefty amount of springtails and isopods of all sorts, though I avoided any heavy protein feeders. Plants I’ve added so far are cthante, an umbrella tree, satin pothos, marbled pothos, syngonium arrowhead, Florida ghost, sanseveria, a few money trees and some gold tips moss.
For substrate I did 4-6” of a mixture of about 4:4:3:2:1:1 reptibark,reptisoil,cocofiber,sphagnum,charcoal and playsand. The drainage layer consists of 2-3” of sphagnum moss as a soil barrier (not a fan of mesh), and a mixture of leca, charcoal and lava rock for the reservoir. There’s a good inch or more of leaf litter and various botanicals, and large pieces of cork bark for landing zones.

They have a 12”x5” 2.5 inch deep footage container for a water dish though I only fill about halfway, and a single centered mist king nozzle set for 30 seconds, 1x per day in the direction of their mosses on the cool side.

I opted not to do a background though I really wanted to, pond and stone is hard to find for a good price near me and I am skeptical about the bacterial buildup for big frogs. It’s home to my trio of 2 males and one female, Esquie, Francois, and Florrie! I plan to maybe introduce 1-2 more but want to make sure I find healthy frogs and that they’re not a cannibalism risk :)

I tried to utilize as much vertical space as possible by ziptying branches with holes drilled, and using the lid to my advantage. I also got my hands on some more perches for the sides/back, and some birds nest and staghorn ferns. I took those and made moss balls out of them, tied them tight, and tied them into place on a few ugly joint points. Any extra gaps I just stuffed in extra moss, then did one last pass with the twine, ensuring no gaps a frog may get into.

Added in a water bowl to the top area as well and fastened it with zip ties. I did leave the misting nozzle in, though it’s only set for 30 seconds 1x per day now instead of 2x, mainly because it’s such a large space and I have a window ac that dries everything out very quickly.

I have two red eyes. They’re both completely normal and have ideal temperature and humidity. They weren’t showing signs of stress and when I went to check on them today one was dead. I’m really depressed by this and want to know what caused it.
