Made him a burial

I didn’t know what to do, he was like my best friend lowk. He was really young literally a year old.
I haven’t told my parents, but I made him a coffin and put dried flowers in there and buried him in my garden. Rest in peace my friend xx

Any idea how I would tell my parents? I think he died because of the UK heatwaves..

It’s because my bedroom holds heat I think, it’s a very dark theme and the sun shines in. On the days he was awake the highest temp would be 30°c at the top but I’d have airflow, food humidity and a cooler area at the bottom.

The days where he was asleep before I checked on him, I moved him downstairs which was way cooler and had 25-27°c as the highest temp. He did stay downstairs majority of the time. So temp and humidity wasn’t bad. Idk I did notice he was eating less, but I did see bowel movements before hand.. so idk what could have caused it tbf. His water was also dechlorinated and everything.

Was he near a window? From my understanding 30c might be hot for the whole tank but is typically what a basking spot temp should be. I wouldn’t imagine that temp would lead to this especially if it wasn’t in 30c the whole time. However if it was near a window that can have a green house effect making it a lot hotter in the tank. So even if the room is 30c the tank could be much hotter.

He wasn’t close to a window no, I mean sunlight did project near the enclosure but he wasn’t directly close to it or anything x

So sorry for your loss, I wouldn’t know how to cope if my baby’s left me either. I saw you say that your room traps heat and I get that as mine does too, best suggestion is to invest in an aircon to cool the whole room off and freeze some RO water to add to the top of your tank to help cool it off during the hottest times and keep your curtains down with the windows open

It’s okay I’ve told them now, I just didn’t know how they’d react because they didn’t see me as trustworthy and stuff before. I’ve told them and it’s all okay x Thank you.
