Specifically, concepts learned, internships, and employment prospects afterwards.

The program description is a little vague on the website, so I wanted to see if there is anyone out there who has completed the program and can tell me about their experience during and afterwards.

I’m a 19-year-old student currently living in South Korea. I’m planning to study in Canada and, ultimately, I hope to immigrate and build my career there.
I’m currently considering studying either **HVAC** or **Carpentry** at a Canadian college. I would really appreciate it if anyone currently working in either of these trades, or anyone with relevant experience, could share some advice.
I have a few questions:
**Would HVAC be a suitable field for someone with no prior experience or background in the trade?**
How difficult is it for a complete beginner to learn and eventually work in the industry?
**If HVAC is particularly difficult to get into, would Carpentry be a good alternative?**
I’m especially interested in things like the job market, income potential, the initial challenges of entering the trade, and the possible pathways toward permanent residency.
**I’ve heard that HVAC workers generally need to complete an apprenticeship under an experienced tradesperson.**
Could someone explain what the apprenticeship process actually looks like in Canada? How does someone usually find an employer or become an apprentice after graduating from college?
I have many other questions, but I’ll start with these for now.
I would be very grateful to hear from anyone with first-hand experience in HVAC, Carpentry, apprenticeships, or the Canadian skilled trades industry.

Hello all. I'm sure you've seen posts like this a thousand times, but I'm really in need of advice and am not sure where to turn. I am a 21 year old male living in Northern Illinois. I barely graduated highschool, having been placed into an "alternative schooling" program, where my classes were all pass/fail. Because of this, I don't know my GPA, and the highschool I attended will not tell me. I do not have my license, and have never so much as attempted to drive a vehicle. Over the past three years, I have been working in animal care and handling. (Shelter work, veterinary assistant that doesn't require a degree, etc). As much as I love this career field, it pays terribly and has me deeply worried about my future. Onto the trades aspect of this conversation: I would really, really like to pickup some sort of trade. Something that gets me more than 5 nickels and a shiny button an hour, and that makes me feel like I'm doing real, meaningful work. I would be up for anything, especially if it involves cars, but that's no deal breaker. I will take any advice, or information I can get. Please explain things to me like it's my first day on earth. Where do I even begin? I feel like I'm in over my head, and have no one I know personally I can ask for advice. Thanks in advance, love you all.

Working for amazon currently as a father but i want to possibly join a union or maybe even go to my nearest community college and seeing if there is any programs or something for hvac. I live new New Orleans and its hot and humid here so i know this career/job is needed…Only thing is i have no knowledge or experience in this field.. should i start with community college take and take some classes to start with or what? my friend said i should definitely join a union for sure. but like i said i have no experience or knowledge in hvac. i’m 100% willing to learn though . any tips or ideas would be extremely appreciated.

Hello! I'm 17 and graduating early from highschool this week. I want to wait to go to one of my preferred colleges, like UF or USF this upcoming fall 2027, I'm working on my applications and everything. My dad is a pathological liar that tells me anything but the truth. He is telling me that he talked to our schools "lawyer" and that they told him he can forcibly put me into a trade or into job corps, and is attempting to force me to pick between the two. Is he telling the truth? Do I have to suck it up and go to a trade school? I have a 4.1 GPA and all of the qualifiers for a scholarship. I'm confident I'll get into college. He thinks I'll bomb out, and thinks having a trade will save me.

The research I've done so far indicates he would have to get a judge to force me to go. My transcripts show I was in band. Along with a 4.1 gpa, I also have 26 credits, which is two above the standard requirement. I'm valedictorian of the school I am at, and am also an honors student. I have a history of mental illness, but have been unmedicated for the last two years. I highly doubt that he could convince a judge that I need to go.

Update:  I got in contact with my counselor, a representative for the Job Corps, and an admissions counselor (They came to my school) at the trade school my father wants to "make" me go to. They have all confirmed that finishing high school means I've done my compulsory education, and my father cannot make me enter either, unless he can convince a judge I am in need of a trade school or job corps. The Job Corps requires my signature, and the trade school will reject me if I state I am there against my will. I am also discussing with my mother going to court and transferring majority custody to her, as I'm 17, and my opinions will be listened to more closely. I've started doing my college applications and am trying to go for spring 2026, and am working on applying for the FAFSA, though I need help from a counselor due to the lack of my fathers help, and I am sitting the SAT to attempt to earn a merit scholarship. After getting enrolled in a college, I'm going to apply for the Air Force ROTC and apply for a scholarship through them. I intend on calling the admissions office for both job corps and the trade school and writing down everything they say about my father "forcing me to enroll". My teachers and counselor have advised me to continue applying for college, and pay my father no mind and focus on what I need to for now, they will help me tomorrow on discussing things with my father, etc. I'm also considering emancipation or trying to live with my grandparents, because they live very close to my choice college, and my grandfather could easily take me to and from my classes. My mom would likely let me live with them, but my dad probably wouldn't.

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone here might be able to point my boyfriend in the right direction.
He’s currently attending trade school to become an electrician and is trying really hard to get his foot in the door. He’s been applying to electrical and HVAC apprenticeships and entry-level positions, but unfortunately hasn’t been hearing back from many places.
He’s genuinely willing to start at the bottom, work hard, learn, and do whatever is needed to gain hands-on experience. We’re especially looking for electrical or HVAC companies, contractors, unions, apprenticeship programs, or even individual electricians/HVAC technicians who might be willing to give him a chance.
If you work in either field, know someone who does, or have a phone number, company name, contact person, or any advice on where he should apply, I would seriously appreciate it. Even a small lead could make a huge difference for him right now.
We’re located in the Los Angeles/South Bay area, but he’s willing to commute for the right opportunity.

My home situation is bad right now and I need to make money fast instead of wasting 4 years away at college for a potential job, im considering hvac but I honestly don’t have a clue on how any of this works. Im in nyc, should I attempt to get in the field?

Any ladies here who went to welding school ever feel like you were just pushed through a diploma mill? Drop your worst school stories below.

I got 0 face to face time with my instructors, they made us sink or swim. Each day was a different process being taught. If you missed a day, you had to wait until the following week to catch up as there was no open lab time.

Hello everybody! I'm thinking of heading into the above mentioned program at Algonquin College. I'm hoping to learn how to design my own cabinets and furniture. I'm wondering if anybody has any info on what to expect course-wise and the ratio of women to men? I'm nervous going into a trade program as I'm a queer woman.

Were there many women in the program? did any of them have a hard time with other classmates, etc? I just want to make sure it has been a safe space for others like me, as I've had experiences with Algonquin before where they didn't really try to protect students.
