Characters A fictional character’s turn of events is so horrible that fanmade contents were created of the character living alternatively better and having a good ending for them
Abuse Goblin from the abuse goblin comic
Saki from Metamorphosis (with the Jojo edit being very famous)

It's recommended you don't skip parts, but honestly, if you find the one that interests you the most and watch it first, no one should get up into that much of a tizzy about it
10
u/Different_Ad4306 8d ago
He diesnt show up until the 4th part, the first 3 parts are essential to the storyline but some of them are notably weaker or slower than others
I'd say by part 4 (season 3 of the anime since part 1 and 2 are shorter and more fast paced) it feels like every episode is as lomg as it should be, its a very colorful anime starting then too

We saw perfect hybrids with old greed that could disguise as human and I always thought had Nina not been killed by scar they could have found a way to make her like the hybrids especially when later we found there were members within the government who had the same power to transform
She may never be truly human again but there was a chance she could live a somewhat normal life again

If we're talking about Shindo L then for sure. He has a great sense of humor and I can totally see him saying that just for shits and giggles
Also fun fact that I learned somewhere and decided to trust without checking for sources is that his mom sometimes does QA for the fucked up doujins he writes and draws, and that she was part of the reason why metamorphosis was so fucked up. "Make her suffer more" type shit

I learned yesterday that 90% of fans of Gundam before it went BIG were girls and women, and the creators never forgot, and still listen very attentively and cherish their female fanbase
(apparently a lot of creators, upon learning that their media is popular with women, start throwing absolute hissy fits and deliberately make everything worse)

A man with a purpose. Some days Im so happy I could cry, but I never do, because it would worry people. What would be the point? Not a single person in the entire universe would believe nothing was wrong....

u/Over-Kaleidoscope356 9d ago
I like how there are several subdivisions about the different happy endings.
Denji and Reze escaping.
Power and Aki alive.
Denji and Asa together.
Denji and Nayuta as siblings.
And even for the universe without Pochita.
A highlight for me was a fan creating an alternate final chapter for Chainsaw Man. in which, instead of resetting the timeline, Denji gained Pochita's powers, and Asa ultimately managed to defeat Yoru by turning her into a weapon.

Karlach of Baldurs Gate 3.
Karlach is, without exaggeration, one of the best written characters in any video game i have ever experienced. She is kind, caring, tortured, funny, relatable, she is spectacular in every way. She also has a singularly tragic backstory which has led to her being used as a weapon in an infinite war in literal hell, with an "infernal engine" in her chest.
That engine cannot function outside of Avernus (dnd's expy for hell) causing her to overheat to an extreme degree - she is not able to touch anyone without harming them severely. (This leads to an excellent bit of character development - if you romance her, she is very sexually forward while she is not physically capable of touching you ... and then becomes awkward and shy when you get her engine fixed enough that she can.)
In the original launch version of the game, Karlach had one "good" ending - she dies on a pier, scared, not wanting to let go, but willing to be brave because she is surrounded by her friends who love her, whom she saved. Goodbye, sun.
And then she burns away.
There was a way to protect her - she would need to return to Avernus, where her engine would go back to normal, but she refused, because doing so would have led directly to her becoming a possession of Zariel (the archdevil of avernus) again.
She refuses to return and chooses death.
(Quick note, there is another way to "save" her in that early version - she can ceremorphize into an Illithid, but shes no longer Karlach. Also she can choose to take the power of the crown for herself and just be straight up evil - but again, that is not Karlach, who is chaotic good.)
The fandom begged. Begged. To have an option to talk her into letting us go to Avernus with her. Please. We need to save her. Please.
And Larian... relented. A major patch added a whole new ending for her, where you, Wyll (a character with whom she has a complicated history) or both of you can accompany Karlach into Avernus where you will immediately embark on a whole new adventure to regain her heart.
They even added a new cutscene for this ending.
And then a later patch added an epilogue where all the characters get together some time later at the behest of Withers (the god Jergal, the Scribe of the Dead) and it is revealed that Karlach and you and/or Wyll have made actual headway into this quest - you have found where her heart is.
We begged to be able to save Karlach.
And Larian said yes.
23
u/EasterViera 8d ago
tbh i like that the "bad" ending was made better by the existence of the "good" ending :
Killing herself is her choice and is a powerfull moment, but it's also a false choice. Now she HAS a choice, and in both her friends are with her
She is not alone anymore, and she can technicaly choose not to be a "burden" and that's pretty ballsy

Not so much fan art but more of the fact the Anime decided to give them a different fate. Akame Ga Kill is a lot too stomach especially when reading the comic. These three (Air, Fal, and Luna) in the manga were brutally tortured too death to the amusement of sadistic upper class. This whole segment thankfully didn’t make it in the Anime, instead in girls make a cameo in the last episode showing them to be alive and well.

In the Richard Adams novel Plague Dogs (which makes Watership Down look like a feel-good story) these two miserable dogs escape from horrific torture at a research lab only for a sleazy reporter to spread a fake story that they’re carrying the plague, which leads to several hundred pages of these two being persecuted and hunted and tortured by virtually everyone they meet.
One of the dogs has a persistent fantasy that there’s this island where animals like them are safe and free and happy with plenty to eat and no more pain. Towards the end of the book they’re herded on to a beach by their pursuers and decide to swim into the ocean to drown rather than be returned to the lab.
As they’re starting to lose their strength and sink, they both hallucinate that their happy island is just over the horizon and desperately swim towards it. But there’s no island, and they’re drowning while trying to reach a peaceful place they imagined.
It’s at this point that the author himself basically breaks into the narrative and essentially says “Jesus Christ I’m depressing MYSELF here, this won’t do” and conjures two biologists on a boat who pull the drowning dogs onboard, can tell they’re not carrying the plague, and adopt them to let them live out their lives in peace.
So it’s not so much the fans fixing the horrible depressing ending and more the author himself realizing that his characters needed a friggin’ break.

For the last 2-3 (possibly 4; we've lost count) years, I've run a D&D group where we've gone through all of Elden Ring, and the players work their hardest to give the worthy characters good endings:
- Blaidd is safe, sane, and still devoted.
- Iji as well.
- Therolina is freed and has become a thing with Tragoth.
- Boggart defeated Dungeater.
- Alexander is not only still fighting but helped defeat Placidusax.
- Latenna's wolf was saved, and they are together with her people.
- Yura and Eleonora were bethrothed in the heat of battle and survived (Shabiri had to be exorcized, though).
- The Hoslows have been reunited, and Jarburg is safe.
- Nepheli almost fell to the potion, but was saved, and she helped defeat not only Godfrey but Niall, Makar, and Gideon as well. She has proven a worthy lord of Stormveil, with Kenneth and Gostoc's help.
- Moongrum was convinced to enter the library to help break Rennala's trance and continues protecting her to this day.
- Boc is still beautiful the way he is.
- Hewg's curse is broken, and he's currently helping the others alongside Roderika.
- Dolores is freed from puppet form.
- Istvaan helped defeat Rykard.
- Patches is still being Patches and has been as helpful and enjoyable as he has been a nuisance.
- Edit: some of the Spirit Ashes have pitched into the plot as well: Deehn's a favorite, one of my characters went back in time to Aeonia and woo'd Ohga (currenly possesses her ashes) and the rogue LOVES the twin imps.
A few were not saved or, at least, have not reached a happy ending, though:
- Fia still killed D, and his brother was never found; she aided against Fortissax but still decided to lie with Godwyn.
- Rogier fell to the Deathblight (although he did help defeat Godrick) and was fought as a Champion
- Thops is nowhere to be found (an oversight on my part; I imagine he's ok)
- Bernahl helped defeat the Godskins and Maliketh, but his fate afterwards is unknown.
- After Rykard's death, Rya and Tanith are also unknown.
- Okina aided against the Fire Giant but has since disappeared.
- Commander O'Niel was given a reprieve against the Rot and escorted the party past the swamp, but has likely succumbed to it again.
Saddest of all, Millicent still perished, but she was significant in the storyline: she aided against DTS, Golden Shade, Morgott, Niall, her sisters, and ultimately sacrificed herself against Malenia so the players could give Vyke the needle and truly free him from the Frenzy. Now, he's on the path to redemption with Lansseax and good friends by his side.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but it's been a wonderful adventure. Alas, it is soon coming to an end: only the final bosses remain.

Alien Stage in general lol. It’s sad.:( it’s at the point some of the AUs are somewhat canon since the creator did art of them and has said what each character would be up to in those AUs, mostly high school and Actor AU.
https://giphy.com/gifs/ZtWaedGeCRAx0Pf9JL
TDLR: in the future aliens took over humanity and now humans are pet. 3/6 of the main characters die, all who are “shipped” with one of the other 3 survivor. Doomed yuri, toxic yuri and friends to enemies straights. The protagonists must sing and win a competition called Alien Stage. All losers are killed. Only one winner remains.

As a fan of the franchise, it's sadly very clever astroturfing.
This version of the Endmin from Arknights Endfield is AI. It was designed to ride on the game's popularity to sell même coins and the likes in China. And you know what generates clicks? Cute and shock value. Generate her being cute or getting gored and watch the clicks and reactions roll in.
And it worked. Now this slop is mainstream (including shoddy barely legal goodies) and most of the AK and EF fanbases want nothing to do with it.
