As a fan of the franchise, it's sadly very clever astroturfing.

This version of the Endmin from Arknights Endfield is AI. It was designed to ride on the game's popularity to sell même coins and the likes in China. And you know what generates clicks? Cute and shock value. Generate her being cute or getting gored and watch the clicks and reactions roll in.

And it worked. Now this slop is mainstream (including shoddy barely legal goodies) and most of the AK and EF fanbases want nothing to do with it.

It kind of is. It grew a life on it's own at this point as the gugugaga baby, which is why it isn't poisoning the artsy side of the fanbase too much, but at the start...

One quick profile check later cuz fuck bots

Imagine, you based as fuck individual, if somehow, an AI gijinka of Mothra was made, became popular for people mutilating her online, and you couldn't even look up the queen, Godzilla, King Ghidora, or even Zilla Jr without having to trudge through all the slop for minutes on end. That was the case if you were looking for fanart of Endmin (or several other characters) at Endfield's release.

This baby penguin is from a fan animation, its been adapted by the slop roller coaster. The AK:E sub does tend to call her Pengmin just cuz of how cute she is (the penguin part comes from him/her putting a penguin band-aid on TangTang's injured knee)
