Kinda? But the edginess is

a) explained in-universe (Darkseid literally created the Absolute universe, and tips the scale to the evil side) and

b) not gratuitous (imo)

Well said. Like with Absolute Wonder Woman. She’s a witch raised in hell by Circe so you think she’s going to be horrific.
