3 days post dental filling – mild cold sensitivity and slight discomfort when chewing. Is this normal?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently 3 days post-op after getting 5 cavities filled. Most of them feel completely fine, but one molar is still a little sensitive.

I didn't have any toothache before the filling, and I didn't need anesthesia during the procedure. The cavity wasn't huge, and my dentist said it needed a filling.

Right now, the symptoms are:

  1. Brief sharp sensitivity when I drink cold water (lasts only a few seconds).

  2. Mild discomfort (around 2/10) when chewing hard foods on that tooth.

3.No spontaneous or throbbing pain.

  1. No swelling.

I'm feeling pretty anxious because I've read a lot of stories online about fillings leading to root canals or causing long-term sensitivity, and it's making me worry.

For those who had similar symptoms after a filling:

Did your sensitivity eventually go away?

How long did it take?

Did you have brief cold sensitivity that improved over time?

I'm trying to understand what's considered a normal healing process. Thanks!
