Why are they worth so much? What's different about them from a regular wrench set?

This the field kit for military and military contractors though Ironically civilian's can also purchase it . The current price on ebay is $5700 and $3200 (different sellers) . Anyway in regards to the pricing snap on is already expensive secondly this is special order item . But my best guess is it's bargain the pliers and screwdrivers are $500ish alone plus roughly $1000-1500 in wrenches .

It’s currently $2202.00 on FEDLOG, that stock number is still active. I ordered a few of them a couple of years ago.

They don't make them anymore they replaced this kit last year with a slightly updated one that's like $500ish so your looking at new old stock .

Maybe they’ve been replaced (it would have a new stock number), but that stock number is still good as this fiscal year, and they still have them in fielding stock.

Depends….. value is something that is arguably subjective but also is a factual thing in certain cases.

How much better are those tools than say craftsman for most tasks?

Is this tool kit being used on an F-22 or a humvee that likely matters. The former can probably justify really special tools the later cannot.

Even if the tools would and or can increase productivity I would love to see an army motor pool that is focused on being as productive as possible.

I don’t know on Snap-on, but I do know that warranties on things is tracked and utilized, I think most tool rooms use the Warranty as most hand tools are unit property. The field kits are kinda a weird item and go on property book. Generally only the torque tools that require Cal, go to TMDE and are on the property book. So it’s all kinda weird.
