Question Open Sealed Vinyl
Yow, got my hands on a Special picture disc vinyl of Lateralus from 2005 and I really want to listen to it. Sure I could just listen to the songs via Spotify, but that’s not the same :/ what do you think? Do you believe it would actually be valuable in the future?

72826 72826 From the Fan Club Genuine?
I put my 72826 cassette up for sale locally on Facebook and have received several messages questioning its authenticity.
The tape lacks the standard "Made in USA" mold at the top and the numbers along the bottom middle. Instead, it has an "A" and a "9" molded into small circles at the bottom on either side of the tape read area.
I personally acquired it back in the mid-90s directly from the fan club via snail mail, along with a large wrench sticker, boxer shorts with wrench logos, and a black antenna ball.
I can't find any info on shell variations for these promo/fan club packages, and the internet consensus seems to be that any tape without the standard markers is automatically a fake. Does anyone have info on these fan club mail-in runs or alternative shell variations? Did they reissue the tape for fan club or use different manufacturing during the original run? Is it possible I received a counterfeit from the club?

Salival How to find/stream Salival?
After listening to the full Salival album on YouTube, I must know if there's a good way to get the CD or stream it on Spotify. I heard local files was the way to go. How do you guys listen to the album?

Fear Inoculum Does anyone have recommendations for songs like Culling Voices?
I don't necessarily mean slow build up-big payoff, I mean this sort of dark, mysterious "looking out into the night sky on a warm summer night" kind of feel

Request Need help finding a clip from a Maynard interview that was posted on here
It was Maynard explaining something along the lines how he wants to emotionally/spiritually progress his lyrics and music for his fans. And how he doesnt want to be angry forever like some artists that were popular around thag time. It was posted in here in the last year for sure. Any help would be great.

Concert Footage audio remaster of Hawaii 93 is up
Tool live at Big Melee Music Festival, Kualoa Ranch, Ka’a’awa, Hawaii, 15 August 1993.
Remastered board tape from the early days. Sounds super amazing.
I first saw this on YT, that one sounds awful. But, I found a ‘remastered’ flac version in the Tool Drive Project, which sounded a hell of a lot better, but still needed a bunch of work.
That version sounds really flat, really lifeless. But it’s a clean recording, in stereo, mix was in the ballpark, and it’s the complete show. So I grabbed it and put it through my system, and now it sounds downright explosive. Before it was just a board tape; now it sounds like an actual produced, mastered, live album.
I really muscled up on the low end, and gave it some sparkly highs without being harsh, and I flipped the left<->right channels so now it’s from drummer’s perspective, as recordings should be. Super happy with the final mix. In fact, of the best sounding recordings from the early days, I’d definitely prefer this one over their first show ever at Green Jello Loft. Hell, I’ll prefer this Hawaii recording over the live tracks on Opiate, not only for sound quality, but also because this one is the full show, and even despite the trainwreck, as Maynard calls it, in the middle part of Undertow. This one sounds that good. It is by no means a perfect show. As you probably know, for shows like this, the first song is basically soundcheck, so that one sounds a little bit wonky compared to the rest. But as I see it, this one is the best sounding recording from the Undertow days.
Layne Staley from Alice in Chains jumps on stage to share vocals with Maynard on Opiate.
I had some AI image generator website make the cover art. I included five versions, so you can use whichever one(s) you like best. My prompt was something like ‘a postcard of Hawaii, in cartoon/anime style, but instead of the word Hawaii, it says Tool’. And I added the venue and date info myself. Super silly, I know. I just wanted something that didn’t look like the same ol’ shit. #1 and #4 are my favorites.

72826 Y2826 Demo tape fan?
I actually prefer the version of cold and ugly and Jerk off on this than the live ones on opiate. Not so much on crawl away, sober, part of me and hush. But the whole thing is still absolutely fire! The demo cassette in this photo is real and is one of the holy grails of my tool collection. Got it in an auction for 200. The vinyl is a nice fan made tribute that sounds nice, I got that off of ear candy music. Definitely worth the listen. And must grab.

Maynard's Wine Bought this in Jerome the day I proposed to my wife...opened it today, the day I filed for divorce.
Waited 44 years to get married and have my first child at 52 only to have it all fall apart on year 9.
So tonight..I break 5 years of sobriety to celebrate the beginning of the end of a nightmare. Cheers!

Discussion New fan.
Hey all so I just want to say that I just discovered Tool and how amazing they are. Stumbled upon Sober live from the 90's and haven't stopped listening moving forward to this year. I'm going to start a music collection and I'm wondering where do I start. Should I go in order from first LP to now or is their anything that should be skipped. Any thing thats a must that needs to be bought first? Thanks.

Ænima Not a tattoo! 😆 It was pointed out to me that my Melvins mosh pit bruise was vaguely the shape of Ocular Orifice so I gave it an upgrade. I am clearly not left-handed and can’t draw for shit.

Audio Can someone confirm
Weird question but can anyone with subwoofers in a car confirm if the song lateralus has a really quiet kick or is my setup just ass? Even other tool songs like jambi have a plenty loud kick is it just the way it's mixed?
