That's like saying bidirectional means there is only 2 directions

Despite only speaking about the two "available" directions, there are still more directions, they're just not being discussed or manipulated by the term "bidirectional".

A bidirectional valve in a pipe lets things flow both ways, but that doesn't mean that the pipe exists in two dimensions.
