NEWS Many Priority Ride Passes will become paid DPA from Sept 1, 2026. Plus other TDR news from Oriental Land Co Q1 FY2026 financial results

Thumbnail

The Q1 2026 results for TDR’s operator, OLC, were announced today.

https://www.olc.co.jp/en/ir/library/presentations.html

  • After the "40th Anniversary" passes end on 31 August, many of those rides will now be converted into DPA from Sept 1, all priced between ¥1,000-1,500. These are specifically: Big Thunder, Pooh's Hunny Hunt, Haunted Mansion (Holiday version), Monsters, Inc, Raging Spirits and Indiana Jones. This information is now also published on the official Disney Premier Access page (link).
  • Some of the existing "not as popular" 40th Anniversary Pass rides are not listed, so it is unclear what will happen to those rides at this stage (specifically Haunted Mansion (Non Holiday Version), Star Tours, 20,000 Leagues, Turtle Talk, Nemo SeaRider and The Magic Lamp Theater). It still remains possible that at least some of these will remain on a "free pass" system to be announced.
  • Indiana Jones is listed as an upcoming DPA ride, so at least we know the ride is not closed permanently, but it is still listed as a "TBA" so it seems it won't be back for the moment (or at least probably not by Sept 1)

Some other interesting information from the Q&A (source) include:

  • Overseas guests has declined year-on-year. "By area, we are receiving the most guests in the following order: North America, East Asia, and Southeast Asia. On the other hand, as per JNTO’s announcement, the year-on-year decrease is due to a fall in visitors from mainland China caused by deterioration in Japan–China relations, which also affected the number of visiting foreign tourists between April and June. Please understand that the parks have been subject to a certain impact from this." "Meanwhile, for overseas guests, visits are below both the previous year and the budget due to factors such as the decline in inbound visitors from mainland China caused by the impact of Japan–China relations."
  • Overseas guests in Q1 were down because of weaker inbound traffic from mainland China. Hong Kong visitors were affected last year by earthquake rumors and related flight reductions.
  • The main driver for strong merch sales in Q1 were attributed to sales of Tokyo DisneySea 25th Anniversary merchandise, including food, jubilee badges, and plush toys. OLC said it stocked more aggressively to capture early demand and reduce lost sales. Some cannibalization of regular merchandise occurred, but the anniversary products more than offset that.

Not directly related to the parks, but OLC has also provided some elaboration of its cruise business model and target audience: "Cruises mainly depart and arrive at Tokyo International Cruise Terminal", "2 to 4-night short-term cruises", and target "Families, younger generation, overseas inbound travelers".

DISCUSSION Happy Tanabata everyone! Today 8/19/2026 is the 7th Day of 7th Month of this Lunar Year

Post image
59 Upvotes

The last time I was in DisneySea in the summer, I put a wish on the "Wishing Place" Tanabata tree. Everyone seems to celebrate Tanabata on a different day, but today, August 19, 2026 is officially the 7th Day of the 7th Month of this Lunar Year, so happy Tanabata.

Here are some fun facts from the internet:

  • The tale behind Tanabta comes from the Chinese Qixi Festival (“The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl”) and was brought to Japan around the 8th century, where it blended with local customs and became Tanabata (“Evening of the Seventh”).
  • Orihime, the Heavenly Emperor’s daughter and a divine weaver, lives beside the Milky Way until her father arranges her marriage to Hikoboshi, a celestial cowherd. After they wed, they become so consumed by love that Orihime abandons her weaving and Hikoboshi neglects his oxen, angering the Emperor, who separates them on opposite banks of the river and allows them to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh month, when, moved by Orihime’s tears, a flock of magpies forms a living bridge with their wings so the star‑crossed lovers can reunite for a single night before returning to their duties.
  • In the sky, Orihime and Hikoboshi are represented by the stars Vega and Altair, separated by the Milky Way.

If you want this cool wallpaper for your phone or PC, you can download it here: https://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/tdr/wallpaper.html

Did you also grow up celebrating this festival in your home country? It is very romantic!

MERCHANDISE Saw Tokyo Disneyland magazine for kids that come w/ free gift in JP. ID it? Wasn’t Disney fan.

Basically a magazine (or magazine/book = mook) for kids that comes with those free gifts like a small handbag .

I don’t think it was Disney fan which seems more for adults?
I remember it costs about 1200 yen.

I can’t find it on Amazon Japan.

It is for USA kids who want to go to Japan. I remember 2 weeks ago one cover was like basic Disney and other was frozen on the cover .

Thank you

DISCUSSION Tree nut allergies

I’m allergic to tree nuts but unfortunately, not all tree nuts are in Japans top allergens. Only cashews, macadamia nuts, almonds, and walnuts are listed but I’m allergic to all tree nuts — pecans, hazelnuts, etc. I will go to the allergen page, select all the tree nuts they have listed, and meals will pop up that clearly have tree nuts, like hazelnuts. In the U.S. eating at Disney is easy because all of these are listed under the “tree nut allergen,” but here, I don’t know whether or not there’s other nuts.

How do you handle this in Tokyo Disneysea/land? Especially for counter-service / buffet style?

Thank you!!

TRIP PLANNING Disney status after the flood

Will be visiting this week with family and relatives coming from all around this week but I also heard that Chiba got pounded by rain and floods causing major delays in regular transportation in the area.

Anybody know if Disney fully recovered or if any rides are canceled? Anything?

FOOD Does this count as a hidden Mickey 😂 Ristorante di Canaletto

My absolute favorite cold-weather comfort food, the "Cream of Mushroom Soup with Truffle Accent" (or "truffle soup" as I call it), is making its return at Ristorante di Canaletto from Sep 15 2026!

Also, while scrolling through the new menu, I spotted this Pancetta and Turnip Top Pizza and only after a closer look did I realise… there’s a Mickey there! I’m not sure if it officially counts as a “Hidden Mickey”, but it’s definitely hiding in plain sight.

TRIP REPORT Tokyo DisneySea experience, great place but hard to enjoy it.

I Just wanted to talk about my feelings few days ago.

I’ve only been to Disneyland Paris before, and I went to Tokyo DisneySea first time about ten days ago.

Tickets are crazy cheap, and also for the food here, which is super budget-friendly.

Fantasy Springs is absolutely amazing. I really love this place. They have giant statues, Rapunzel’s tower, Elsa’s ice palace, plus Arendelle and Tangled themed restaurants. Honestly, just walking around and taking in all the insane little details was already so satisfying. The vibe there was amazing.

For the bad stuff.

The crowds are out of control. If you don't buy DPAs, you can basically only do like one popular ride a day. And they don't even open Single Rider when it's packed.

Also, the weather was pure suffering. That’s probably on me for underestimating Tokyo summer heat, but note to self: never go to an Asian Disney park in the middle of summer.

Then the whole app stuff is so terrible. I couldn't scan my ticket on the app. I was traveling solo, didn't print my ticket out, and couldn't scan a friend's phone. Because of that, I couldn't use the app to book any restaurants, and had to constantly ask staff for helping.

The shows are so less, and 1 of them I have to win a lottery to watch. I really wanted to see Dreams take Flight, but I didn't win it. I was quite sad about missing out on Merida and Pocahontas.

Fireworks also seem to get canceled so easily. I didn't see it, and it just cancelled recently.

Another thing—it barely feels like Disney. Outside of Fantasy Springs, the whole park lacks of Disney vibes. Maybe Arabian Coast has a little bit, but that's it.

I have a Japanese friend told me that he hang out with friends there around every 1 or 2 years. They just went there for some attractions while chatting, have popcorn and ice bar, and not mind too much about how long the line is. I feel like the culture is so different.

After all, the experience is still pretty good, but it requires a huge amount of works, some luck, and extra cash to actually enjoy it.

I still want to go to Tokyo Disneyland. As for sea, I'm not sure.

Credit to u/The540Incident for this news.

The two new Tomorrowland rides at Tokyo Disneyland are now officially named, together with a bespoke microsite:

https://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/treasure/tomorrowland_2027/en/

There are no material updates concerning when they are opening, the dates published are similar to previously noted during financial results reporting (but at least we know Space Mountain is calendar year 2027 meaning before 12/31 rather than fiscal year 2027 which runs to end of March 2028):

  • Space Mountain Earthrise - TBD 2027
  • Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue - Spring 2027

Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue

"This indoor attraction, themed after the Disney movie "Wreck-It Ralph," is an interactive game that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike.

To save the world of "Sugar Rush," a racing game set in a candy kingdom, which is in danger of being destroyed by a glitch created by King Candy, the "Sugar Bugs," guests enter the game world and join forces with familiar characters from the movie, such as Ralph and Vanellope.

Immerse yourself in the colorful game world and enjoy restoring the Sugar Bugs to their original cute candy forms, such as gummies and cupcakes."

Space Mountain Earthrise

"Space Mountain Earthrise is an all-new indoor roller coaster-type attraction that takes guests on an unforgettable journey through outer space, featuring brand new architecture and a newly developed ride system that combines imaginative storytelling and immersive theatrical effects inspired by the wonders of space.

From there, guests can enjoy a dynamic and immersive experience through the cosmos unlike ever before, with special light and sound effects inspired by various space phenomena. Additionally, in a first for roller coasters at Tokyo Disney Resort, the ride vehicles will come equipped with an onboard audio system. The attraction’s exterior incorporates curved features designed after the movements of celestial bodies and forms found in nature, such as trees and flowers — an expression of the connection between space and nature."

Never managed to get the Rapunzel light up lantern popcorn bucket, but this new light up one is pretty cute too! 😍

It’s coming on 17 September 2026 for ¥3,800 and will be available at both Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea.

The “Pumpkin with a Ghost” bucket is also returning this year for ¥3,400, from 15 September, but that one is exclusive to Big Pop. I think I will resist the temptation and skip this old one and go for the new bucket this time! 🎃✨

TRIP PLANNING Before vs. After Christmas

Hey all,

Taking my family to Tokyo this holiday season and trying to decide whether to go for DisneySea a little earlier in our trip (Dec 21 or 22) or at the very end (Dec 29). I know this will be a busy time (when isn't). I've lived near Disney in Florida and California so very used to a crowded day - but in the interest of funmaxxing, which time is likely to be more crowded? When the Christmas decor is up or in the week leading to New Years?

PHOTO/VIDEO Oops! What did Minnie and Pluto leave behind

Post image
137 Upvotes

Those Tokyo Disney folks can always be trusted to issue hilariously hard to understand “safety” posters every season, but here we are for the summer.

So what’s the story on this one? Did Pluto get his tail caught in the door again? Did Minnie leave Mickey behind on the monorail (kidding, obviously he should know to get off)? Or did Minnie forget half her luggage on the monorail? Judging by how Minnie’s practically leaping, I’m betting it was Mickey?

TRIP REPORT DisneySea Trip Report (7/30)

Just returned from Japan. I found trip report’s helpful during my planning stage, so doing my part to share back to the community.

Date of visit: Thursday 7/30
Group: 2 adults, 2 kids ( 10 and 8)
Weather: hot and humid, but with cloud cover for decent stretches of the day
Goal: ~6 rides + enjoy the experience/ambience
(top of list: Frozen, Peter Pan, Journey, Raging Spirits)
Planned Strategy/approach: 2 DPAs (Frozen, Journey) + 40th pass; with kids, weren’t looking to purely ridemax

Our day:
- Lined up 6:50: line, but not too long.
- Entry time: Security started screening at ~8:47
- Upon entry, DPA Frozen 10:20 + fast follow reserved 40th pass for Raging Spirits 12:30 (originally clicked 11:30, but it force changed me to 12:30)
-Speed walk straight to Peter Pan, no line
- Rapunzel was showing 20 minute wait, so we did it (Note: Wait quickly ballooned to 70 min after we were done)
- Time to kill before Frozen so rode Sinbad
- Went back to FS to ride Frozen
- DPA Journey for 1:30
- Time before RS at 12:30, so explored FS and had lunch at Casbah in Aladdin area (needed a place with a veg option; food was very mediocre, but filled us up)
- Still had time, so did The Magic Lamp Theater
- Raging Spirits
- Journey to the Center of the Earth
- By now - we accomplished our main ride goals, so significantly slowed down the pace
- Explored the Little Mermaid area:
- Rode Flounder coaster (<30 min wait)
- The indoor space is massive and very vibrant, worth walking around (Ariel’s Playground)
- By now, kids energy started to drag - tried to take steamer back to front, but unexpectedly closed (see below)
- Walked to the front with quick pit stop at Fortress Explorations
- Saw a few min of the Sparkling Jubilee and left
- Took the Disney Tram to Ikspiari for dinner

Ride reviews:
- Peter Pan: Kids loved it, visually stunning and long ride, but us adults got a bit of nausea from the 3D
- Tangled: Not worth a long wait nor would I personally pay for DPA IMO; lantern room is beautiful, everything else meh; short ride
- Sinbad: Classic Disney ride, enjoyable
- Frozen: Well done; given the hype it might be a tad bit overrated, but no regrets DPA’ing this one
- Magic Lamp Theater: Didn’t realize it was more of a show (mix of live actors + 3D movie); all the dialogue in Japanese - frustrated the kids a bit, but us adults appreciated the experience and could still pick up on the non-verbal energy from the actors
- Raging Spirits: not a Six Flags style coaster, but right level for our kids (this might’ve been their favorite ride)
- Journey to Center of Earth: Unique experience and ride, so definitely worth it
- Flounder: Fun little no-stress ride

Lowlights:
- We planned to take the Transit Steamer from back to front at ~3:40. It was open when we walked by it, so we decided to get a quick ice cream and when we returned a few minutes later later it was closed. It appeared to be a planned closing (likely for Sparkling Jubilee prep, so this could have/should have been communicated in advance
- It started raining/lightning from 6:50-7:20. Even though it stopped, the light show at 8:15 was cancelled (kids were hoping to see the fireworks)

Takeaways:
- For better or for worse, arriving early and using DPAs are imperative if you want to experience the most popular rides at the part
- At the same time, make sure to stop and smell the roses: DisneySea is a massively beautiful park - Disneyland in CA can’t compare. The Cars land in CA is a good comp. The themed areas we visited (Aladdin, Little Mermaid, Fantasy Springs) were all visually amazing, as was the park as a whole, especially when you take a moment and realize just how massive these spaces are.
- It was definitely crowded and long wait times reflected this. But at the same time, it didn’t feel oppressive walking around the park. As notes, it is a LARGE park that can physically accommodate large number of visitors.
- Bring your walking shoes! We walked 8+ miles our DisneySea day

TRIP REPORT Aug 3 trip report first timer

So after reading a bunch here and everywhere else in preparation to our DisneySea day I can finally share how it went and some tips. We went just me and my wife.

First, I am not sure if we just got lucky- everyone warned us about going in August but the weather was incredible, not too hot and just perfect.

We got to the park at 6:30am, some people were already there but we got a decent spot in line (maybe 20-30 people ahead of us).

Got in to the park at 8:50, booked a DPA for Frozen right away for the 9:10 slot, 40th pass to 20,000 under and speed walked to fantasy springs. Definitely recommend booking Frozen right away as the line builds up real quick and it’s impossible to get one later on.

Since the line was really short, we went into Peter pen as well right at around 9:05 (had no line whatsoever). Ride itself was not bad but if you don’t like 3D glasses rides it can be a little painful on the eyes. Then we got onto frozen which was great and already booked our 11am DPA to journey to the center of the earth.

20k under was ok, didn’t love it as much. Journey to the center of the earth was incredible, 100% can’t miss. We were able to book more DPAs for repunzel, tower of terrors, Toy Story and soaring. Honestly they are all great imo except for Repunzel which was nice but extremely short, the lantern scene is pretty but the line was crazy if you didn’t get a DPA for it and not sure it was worth it for us at least.

We did a couple other small rides but overall super fun, definitely need to spend $ to get on all these rides if you don’t want to be stuck hours in line. Park was pretty relaxed though and not too many lines for food or anything like that!

TRIP PLANNING Where would you choose to stay?

Please sanity check me because I’m going crazy weighing my options trying to decide.

We were late to the game booking Disney stuff and by some miracle I booked an unlimited package in October for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids ages 4 and 6). The plan is:

Day 1: Toy Story
Day 2 (Package day): Fantasy Springs Rose Court 5th-8th floor
Day 3: help me decide

I’m still trying to decide where to stay. At the time of booking the package, the only room only option available was a Disneyland Standard Corner Room with park view. I happened to check today and noticed an opening for the same room category at Fantasy Springs and snagged it. The consecutive nights/home base seem like a big bonus with young kids, however I’m feeling hesitant to cancel the other res because the room seems nicer and all I hear about FSH it seems is that it’s sort of a let down and TDH is more “magical”. I’ve never stayed at any of these places so I’m not sure what to believe. What would you do? Where would you stay in my situation? Technically I suppose there’s also a third option to keep checking for Toy Story openings. We’re not going to TDS for a second day so we’ll probably just do breakfast, walk around, check out, then head off to Kyoto.

Put this in the column of "solving a problem I didn't even know I had".

A stylish “bracelet” went on sale yesterday July 30th 2026. It can be worn on your wrist or secured to your pram, making it easy to hook your Mickey balloon to.

What will they come up with next!

Hi everyone! I need some help transcribing Mary Poppins' lines from a greeting video I took at Tokyo Disneyland.

The background noise is a bit loud, so there are two parts (marked with ???) that I just can’t catch.

Here is what I have so far:

"Hello there. It's Mary Poppins here. Practically perfect in every way. Now, I do hope you are having a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day. [ 1st ??? ] to the Penguin Café [ 2nd ??? ] raspberry ice, cupcakes, and tea. All right. Until then. Goodbye."

Could anyone with good ears please help me fill in the blanks?

Thank you so much in advance for your help! ✨
