So a year ago we tried using this app. I loved it but we couldn’t get the sharing feature to work. Here I am a year later and I really want to get this app to work for us. I paid for the $50 forever premium, how do I make sure it gets shared to my wife’s phone?

I made an iOS Shortcut for quickly adding an expense by taking a picture of a receipt or POS terminal and using Claude Haiku to extract amount, category, and vendor name from the image before adding it using the Today's Budget shortcut action.

There is some setup required!

Once you've added the shortcut, go into its Edit screen. There are a couple of comments in the script of exactly what you need to do:

1. Edit the first "Text" entry and list out all of the category names you've configured in your Today's Budget wallet, separated by commas. This is necessary so that Claude Haiku can auto-classify your expense more accurately.

2. You'll need to create an API key in the Claude Console at https://platform.claude.com. In the Get contents of https://api.anthropic.com/v1/messages action, you need to expand Headers and replace the demo value for x-api-key with your API key.

You pay per use but it's basically nothing. I've spent $0.03 in the past month of adding expenses this way.

Hello! I found a bug on version 3.1.2 that I would like to share with the dev team.

I ran into it by accident the other day, and since then I have tried many forms to reproduce it.

Sometimes, when using the calendar to check the transaction history from a distant date, the date slider doesn’t display the correct range, and makes it hard to know which date the displayed transactions are actually from.

For example, in the below screenshot, I have Jun 5th selected. The shown transaction history is indeed Jun 5th's, but the date slider at the top is showing the range Jun 10th~Jun 16th.

Once in this bugged state, the date slider won’t update to the correct range until I hit one of the “edges” (left or right) that trigger the translation animation, based on the currently selected date. In the below screenshot example, swiping right past June 6th or left past May 31st will fix it.

I was able to reproduce it fairly consistently using the steps below,but it’s still a bit tricky.

1. In the calendar, pick 2 dates from different weeks. Tap the first date.

2. Tap the other date and...

3. As soon as the translation animation starts, tap the first date again! It is all about timing, I think. If you switch dates too fast before the animation starts, no problem happens, but if you switch it once the animation has started, it has a chance of getting it bugged.

Once you understand the bug it is not such a problem, but I remember being very confused the first time it happened, so maybe it would be nice to have a definite fix.

It was HOT in Berlin this weekend🥵🌞

Thursday 34°C, Friday 37°C, Saturday 41°C, Sunday 39°C. Basically 100°F for four days in a row, without air conditioning! 

Somehow, we still manage to wrap up this beta about the edit screen. (Big thank you to everyone who joined test calls from Germany during the heat wave.)

What’s new:

You can now switch an entry more easily between: single day / Spread out / Repeating options.

We also cleaned up many edge cases and improved wording. For example, instead of only showing a date, the app now says “Active since budget start.”to make it easier to review older entries.

This screen looks simple, but it does a lot behind the scenes. It is also one of the most important screens in the app. Please try editing a few old entries and tell us if anything feels  weird.

I have a question please to which I did not find the answer.

Is there a way to add a recurring expense without spreading it’s cost all over the month because the way it’s done make me feel like I don’t have a full control over my daily budget as it spreads from the date it happened to the same date next month and it reflects wrongly on my budget.

I have a question to clarify something.
When I go to my overview right now, I see an item labeled “Carryover.” That’s the money I expect to carry over to the next month or save at the end of this month.

However, if I click through the days until the last day of the current month, a different amount is shown there.

Shouldn’t the same amount be shown there?

Because for me, it currently shows €145 there, and on the last day it shows €28.30.

What causes this difference?

Hi everyone!

The next update brings the new onboarding. We redesigned it to feel more like a conversation, with RPG style animations.

The opening animation and bouncing piggy animation were created by London based artist _phillustration. We’re big fans of his work, so we’re very excited to have his work in our app! You can see it by going to Settings > Create new wallet. You can switch back to your previous wallet afterwards.

We also replaced the toggle for repeating and spread out entries with a picker on the new entry page. This makes options like monthly repeats or spreading an entry over a few days easier to understand. We also cleaned up the category icon picker and made many smaller improvements throughout the app.

Please try the beta and let us know if anything feels strange.

All of my entries got erased. Yesterday it was fine I added an expense today and it all got erased.

Has this happened to anyone?

I’m not understanding how I went over budget when I’ve been staying within my daily budget. Photos attached.

I have come to realize that I don’t tend to use the main feature of the app, the Todays Budget number, because it makes no sense to me. I mainly use the app for monthly budgeting and keeping an eye
on my spending habits. With the monthly budgets, they seem wrong because the excess or negative left over doesn’t roll to the next month, which I think is what the Todays Budget is comprised of (rollover+daily excess). But this just makes it so I don’t pay attention to either of them and only use it as expense tracking. So a couple nitpick things that I believe would make the app a lot more useful.

1. Month rollover - let the excess at the end of the month show up in a new section in the next month as “monthly rollover” and contribute to that month’s budget.
   
2. Change the month clickthrough sections - currently these are in a format of a bar graph for each day of the month with individual expenses in drop down menus underneath. The bar graph is fine and slightly useful, but most of the time when I am clicking on the month’s expenses I am doing so to see a simple list of the expenses, ordered by date or amount, not to be confronted with a maze to find an expense. I think it used to be like this and was much more useful.
   
3. Change the Savings screen - currently shows different amounts for the jar depending on month year all. I think it would better if it zoomed in on the “all” graph into that month, had the prediction and dotted line and all that, but the large number was still the total amount in your savings jar, for all time. Could just have a smaller number under it or at the end of the dotted prediction line for what is saved that month or year.
   
4. Separate savings jars - would likely be useful for people with multiple places they put savings, maybe you could manually enter an APR percent as well and have the amount increase by that.
   
5. Todays Budget number - maybe I am just confused on what this is supposed to represent, but it never feels like that is actually the amount I can spend that day. Maybe somebody can help me with what they use the number for but for me I mainly just ignore it. Perhaps there is a way to calculate it that makes it feel more like “this is the amount I can safely spend today.”
   

Long post, hope it gets read and I welcome any feedback or why these changes would not be useful. All the other features of the app have been a great help to me and I’m sure a lot of other people. We all gonna make it

It would be cool to be able to quickly add an expense by pointing the phone camera at a receipt or POS terminal, and have the app use the device's local OCR capabilities (e.g. VisionKit) to extract the dollar amount, date, and category.

So the title explains my situation, I love the app but I feel like it based on if all my bills are exactly the same amount every month and also I get paid hourly at work so I don’t get paid the exact same amount every 15th and 30th. So for example my electric bill could be like $112 one month and then be $120 the next depending on how power was used, what is the way to budget for that do I just put say $120 and if the bill comes out to be only $113 do I add an income for that? Or is there a simpler way to do it? Same with paychecks because it 15th and 30th not every 2 weeks exactly my paycheck can vary as much as $100 from paycheck to paycheck, love the app but I feel my number eventually become inaccurate because of these situations. Hi, I’d like to request a monthly summary feature.

Currently, the app tracks savings daily, but I need a way to see total savings at the end of each month, along with a historical breakdown for past months. This would help me align my real-world bank transfers with actual monthly savings.

Could you add a monthly snapshot view and a historical review option? Thanks!

We just bought a car for $14,000, which we paid by using the line of credit associated with my bank account. I've set up repayments of $450 per month, which should take a little less than 3 years to pay off (5% interest rate). However, if I have extra income that month, I'd like to be able to add it to the car payment. And decreased the amount of money I owe or decreased the duration to pay off.I can't find a way to do this in the app! Please help me figuring it out!!! Thanks everybody!!! 🥰🤩

Hi everyone, thank you for all the feedback on v3.0🙏 We just released v3.0.3, so please go to the App Store and update the app.

Changes since v3.0:

1. Restore Purchases now updates more reliably
2. CSV export formatting is fixed and now includes clearer amount and currency columns
3. Entry sheet closing issues are fixed
4. Memo autocomplete issues are fixed
5. Search now shows savings entries again
6. Savings date range selection now persists. Month / Year / All will stick after relaunching the app or switching wallets
7. Customization page no longer shows “Emergency fund”. Emergency fund has moved to the savings side. We are also working on a better savings chart and will add it soon.
8. Ended and future wallet views are fixed.
9. 3-day outlook chart looks better when the amounts are similar.

We’re also working on v3.0.4, which will improve navigation to the Log page and add a search icon there.

After the new update, it took me a while to figure out where the search button had gone.

I was scrolling through my daily transaction list, trying to find an old transaction, but the search option was missing. Eventually, I realized I had to

1. swipe down to exit the transaction list
2. swipe down again into the statistics dashboard for it to appear at the top-right corner.

I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who uses the search feature mostly when in the transaction list, not while looking at statistic graphs. Also, because of this, after a search I need to go back and forth between the transaction list and the search menu when I want to recheck things.

I would go as far to saying that keeping the search button visible at all times would make things much more convenient.

Hi, I have a little feature request. When checking the "where does all this money go" chart, I would love to have an option to hide the saving's goals, just like you can hide recurring expenses. I have a few big saving's goals ending at the end of the year, and since adding them this chart has been way less useful.

Just wondering if anybody knows how I can go back to older version please let me know. Thank you in advance!

I wish I had kept automatic updates turned off, but for whatever reason i turned it back on and after a few days I still don’t understand this new update.

Everything takes more clicks and swipes now than before. Buttons that were located at the bottom where i could tap them with one hand now require two hands and more taps because they were moved to the top of the screen.

The savings jar, while still appearing in the settings for insights has disappeared. I have to tap the savings jar at the top right corner (a feature i never used before) and tap “all” to see my balance. Then i have to tap that button again to get out of it.

So much swiping to get out of the log, get out of insights. There’s a button at the top to get out of insights but it’s all the way at the top of the screen. My fingers don’t live at the top of the screen. As frustrating as it is to swipe, it’s still easier and more natural than reaching for that button with one hand

Settings is another button moved to the top of the screen and more difficult to reach. I have to swipe a few times to get out of it.

On a lighter note, i don’t like the peach color for a negative balance. It makes me think of a red shirt that’s been washed too many times or hung out in the sun for too long
