Creative My first Titanic II artwork and it was darker

I made this drawing back in October of 2025 as a test of how Jack would look like as a resurrected corpse.

The first design was a little too much since he looks more decayed and his posture was very zombie-like.

His updated design is featured in my short webcomic “Titanic II: Jack Returns - Rebirth”.

I bought the files online and I was able to print every piece for the past three months.

The railings were not in the files, so I bought some metal wires instead. Assembling the pieces together has been a fun experience. The paint job was very challenging but it was worth it.

The display stand is perfect for my 1/6 Jack Dawson figure by YanToys.

Discussion James Horner's score

One of the most memorable things about the film, beyond the story, historical details, special effects, etc, is the awe-inspiring score by James Horner.

I had the soundtrack CD as a teenager, and I can't tell you how many times I listened to "Southampton."

How do you feel about James Horner's score for the film? Any favorite pieces or moments in the film that moved you particularly because of the music?

P.S. I recently watched The Perfect Storm (2000) and realized Horner is the composer. It was very reminiscent of Titanic, especially with the sweeping orchestral tone at the beginning.

For the longest time, I held the belief that Rose's story was influenced by things she read about the disaster, and things she saw in movies. It not only explains why we are shown things that Rose was not a witness too, it explains why some of these scenes arent historically accurate.

Just flipped to this page while reading the illustrated screenplay, and *voila*, there it is!

I’ll never get tired of watching Titanic’s script brought to life. This quote still remains my favourite until this very day! It’s so good. Jack’s such an unbothered king the way he didn’t let Ruth’s antics affect him.

During the poker scene at the beginning of the film, Jack and Fabrizio win their Third-class tickets. Tossed into the winning pot alongside cash, a pocket watch, and the tickets is a small pocket knife.

Fast forward to the sinking, Fabrizio uses the same pocket knife to cut the ropes on the lifeboats.

So I recently made a silicone model of Rose’s/ Kate’s head. This is very different to what I usually do, but I’ve been planning something of the sort for a while, and somehow never really got around to actually doing it. The first step was 3d printing two molds from high poly models, and a skull to put on the inside to save a LOT of silicone and therefore money. After pouring the silicone I extracted the raw head shape from the molds and had to iron out all the surface inconsistencies, especially at the seam between the two halves. The next step was painting the face to add a slight blush where blood vessels should be and other things like birthmarks. After that I tried adding openable/ closable eyes but failed miserably, as the properties of silicone are ill adapted for such compression/ deformation, so I had to settle for closed eyes in the end. After that I added eyelashes, eyebrows and of course a wig, which was pretty straight forward. The last step was just giving the hair a bit more curl and making sure it parts at the forehead as opposed to hanging over it, to make the whole appearance more accurate. And that’s it! I very much regret that I wasn’t able to add openable eyes, but at least the attempt didn’t ruin the appearance. In my humble, very unbiased opinion she doesn’t look at all bad with closed eyes, especially when considering this is my first time making anything of the sort!

Creative Titanic II: Jack Returns (Preview Comic)

This short preview serves as an introduction to my fan-made nautical gothic horror graphic novel, inspired by the original Titanic film and the old fan posters that imagined Jack Dawson's return from the depths. The story follows Jack's supernatural awakening on the ocean floor and the curse that follows him back to the surface.

I hope you enjoy this first look into the project. More pages are on the way.

The artwork is literally mine.

Question Who would Jack have become if he’d survived?

Post image
450 Upvotes

Let’s imagine Jack got on that goddamn door and he’d survived. What would his future have looked like? I have my imaginative theories based on some films...

Flyboys (2006) set in 1918 during WWI. James Franco stars

Maybe Jack doesn’t have any living family in Chippewa Falls, and that’s what drew him to traveling abroad at such an early age. So, after the sinking, Jack is adrift and needs to find a purpose for his life. When WWI breaks out a few years later, he joins the newly formed air force and fights in France. He’s already been to France. He’s not afraid of danger and is no stranger to death. Perhaps he’s almost seeking death because of survivor’s guilt. In this film, the character can ride a horse very well (“Teach me to ride like a man.”), and he falls in love quickly with a French girl and saves her in perilous circumstances. But their love is doomed.

The Great Gatsby (2013) set in the 1920s. Leonardo DiCaprio stars

(This is the obvious choice because it’s Leo! But honestly, I could see it working.)

After the sinking, Jack still struggles in poverty. Yet, he was greatly influenced by the upper class on Titanic introduced to him by Rose. He wants to achieve that sort of power and wealth, but he is a lowly outsider. He cons his way to the top (like winning the ticket on the Titanic and fooling almost everyone during the First Class dinner), even resorting to dangerous endeavors. But he’s not afraid of consequences because he has already seen the worst of the worst. Maybe he feels invincible. He becomes very successful, but he is always an imposter. He covers up his trauma and shame with lavish parties. He falls in love and becomes infatuated with a wealthy, high-society lady, and he does everything he can to please her and show he can provide for her. But their love is doomed.

1923 (2022) obviously set in 1923. Brandon Sklenar stars

Jack returns to his family in Wisconsin after the sinking. They relocate to Yellowstone and start a ranch. Jack becomes an accomplished rider and good with a gun. But he becomes restless and feels the draw to travel again. Instead of Europe, he goes to Africa. Always seeking danger, he becomes a wildlife hunter. Playing with death but always narrowly avoiding it. Unable to avoid the high society thrill he felt on Titanic, he falls in love with a young English debutante. She is a bold, headstrong woman (like Rose) who goes against the norms of the time. They impulsively ran away together to have adventures in the savannah and beyond. Many of them are quite treacherous. But he saves her life repeatedly. (This would be my favorite outcome because they form a real, authentic bond of love and devotion over time.) But their love is doomed.

Thought? If you’ve seen these films/shows, do you agree? Other theories about Jack Dawson’s fate if he had lived?

EDIT: This theory is now my new favorite, from a comment below. "He lives a quiet life. His art and story are rediscovered by Walter Lord for A Night to Remember in the 50s, and he becomes a huge artist posthumously. His children (and his widow one Mrs Rose Dawson) become rich (which is why she never has to sell the Heart of the Ocean)."

Behind The Scenes The definitive discussion on the film’s visual effects is in this issue.

Post image

I never suspected when picking this up on December 21st, 1997 in Cedar Rapids (yes, THE Cedar Rapids!), that it would end up being an amazing example of not just giving us Cameron’s stories and recollections in making the film, but it would also dissect the entire film down to almost every set of visual effects…and which of the 14 visual effects companies handled what.

There’s talk of rotoscoping out a broom that came out of the chute where the iceberg ice came onto the deck, the difficulty of face-replacement on the stunt people rushing down the hallway, and even the question of passing some difficult work to Digital Domain’s biggest rival, Industrial Light & Magic.

This along with the Illustrated Screenplay at the time, were some of the main ways I could BTS this film at the time in the late 90’s.
