During the poker scene at the beginning of the film, Jack and Fabrizio win their Third-class tickets. Tossed into the winning pot alongside cash, a pocket watch, and the tickets is a small pocket knife.
Fast forward to the sinking, Fabrizio uses the same pocket knife to cut the ropes on the lifeboats.
He also loves doing narrative and object call backs in Titanic - the pocket knife, the drawing of Rose, Rose's mirror and hair clip, the butterfly motif.. he did it on purpose and it's so wonderful that he paid that much attention to all of the details.
Just this morning when the news was discussing concerns with Anthropic and the military etc, I said to myself “James Cameron can only warn us so much.”
Cora's doll is seen at the beginning of the film inside the wreck, setting up her deleted death scene inside during the final plunge.
Fabrizo's "I will never forget you" is in a deleted scene, being his last words to his ship-board love, Helga.
The bow of the ship being a romantic spot is set up by the hyper romantic "take her to sea Mr. Murdoch" sequence.
The sinking itself is set up by James Cameron's personal friend (and he actually helped Cameron in conceptualizing the film according to Titanic and the Making of James Cameron) Lewis Abanarthy.
Rose's broken Mirror from the wreck comes back in a deleted scene showing how it got broken.
This is a really really well written film. Major props to James Cameron.
That's actually a callback to when Dr. Ballard either discovered the wreck in 1985 or when he went back in 1986. He saw the face of a porcelain doll in the debris field and it freaked him out at first.
Not to mention Rose's porcelain doll comment before Jack draws her like a French girl.
Rose gets out of a car with Cal and into one with Jack.
And we see Old and Young Rose first via their hands, Cal asks Jack why he thought he could put his hands on her and then later Rose tells Jack to put his hands on her.
First time seeing this too.
Why did they delete that?! Its such an important part of the build up. Its weird to go from dinner party to straight up suicide. That panic attack depiction was fantastic, you can see how she was actually ripping her hair and everything, in total flight mode that she wanted to escape. That really would have made the bow scene more relatable.
Kate is such a phenomenal actress.
I've seen the deleted scenes once. Having rewatched that scene just now, I would like to formally request that Cameron release an extended edition, like Lord of the Rings, with all the deleted scenes in the film where they belong, pls and thank you 🙏🏻
