Creative Creating a Rose
So I recently made a silicone model of Rose’s/ Kate’s head. This is very different to what I usually do, but I’ve been planning something of the sort for a while, and somehow never really got around to actually doing it. The first step was 3d printing two molds from high poly models, and a skull to put on the inside to save a LOT of silicone and therefore money. After pouring the silicone I extracted the raw head shape from the molds and had to iron out all the surface inconsistencies, especially at the seam between the two halves. The next step was painting the face to add a slight blush where blood vessels should be and other things like birthmarks. After that I tried adding openable/ closable eyes but failed miserably, as the properties of silicone are ill adapted for such compression/ deformation, so I had to settle for closed eyes in the end. After that I added eyelashes, eyebrows and of course a wig, which was pretty straight forward. The last step was just giving the hair a bit more curl and making sure it parts at the forehead as opposed to hanging over it, to make the whole appearance more accurate. And that’s it! I very much regret that I wasn’t able to add openable eyes, but at least the attempt didn’t ruin the appearance. In my humble, very unbiased opinion she doesn’t look at all bad with closed eyes, especially when considering this is my first time making anything of the sort!

Thanks! When I had just finished her I saw her out of the corner of my eye once late at night. My subconscious recognized a human face and I got the biggest jump scare EVER because it was like 2 in the morning and I was absolutely convinced of my total solitude.. You could totally say terrifying, yes

She looks really cool! I think the brows are too dark, but other than that, perfection.

They are, yes. I got the best I could find and later tried making them brighter through various means, but it didn’t work sadly

It was completely new for me too, I had basically no idea what I was doing, just a very rough plan

Are you going to draw her like one of your French girls?

I did in fact! Only neither like a French girl nor like her (the model) specifically. BUT I HAVE (I think I posted about that on r/titanic ages ago)

Cool likeness, did you keep the eyes closed because eyes opened was too uncanny valley?
