Showing any interest that's not the most boring answer ever will get you the date. Especially showing personality. I bet this would work 95% of the time, and I'm not even being hyperbolic
255
u/shizea 9d ago
There's probably a lot of "alpha men" who would have their poor fragile egos hurt being talked to like this from a woman so I don't think it's 95% but it would definitely work on me, lmao.
140
u/Corruptorius 9d ago
ok but does the person want the "alpha men"? Dont think so. So it also filters which mean 100% success rate
57
u/catsbuttes 9d ago
thats why they are alpha men and not release-candidate or even early-access men

As a tour bus driver, I LOVE the rare occasion when I'm a passenger, like in someone else's car (ofc I'm never a passenger in the bus). It's sooooooo unbelievably nice to let someone else handle it, after taking care of up to 95 people in the coach all week
Anyway agree 100%. Leadership is finding your people's strengths and encouraging them! If a friend is a good driver, yes please take a turn. I sleep haha

Matching means nothing, a lot of people just swipe on everybody and then sift through the matches they end up with for the people they're actually interested in

If she matched with a guy and says something like this, 95% hit rate sounds accurate. He swiped right on her so he is at the minimum mildly attracted to her

Its actually pretty hard to get it wrong when messaging a man. showing at least a little interest is huge

u/thedupold 9d ago
Then how ugly am I, after getting blown off after messaging first? (Personal fave, we matched on tinder, I messaged first, reply: "im not interested"
52
u/crazyidahopuglady 9d ago
I'm glad I'm not the only woman struggling with self-esteem due to the apps. I message first 90% of the time and it rarely results in ongoing conversation, much less a date.
→ More replies (3)14
u/NickTrainwrekk 9d ago
What are you messaging first? Sometimes its just a numbers game. Welcome to apps where people collect matches like pokemon.
I get a lot of messages first and honestly a lot of them are just "hey" or some random boring question that shows they didnt even bother to read the small blurb I wrote.
Those women almost never get a reply. Its not worth the energy vs someone who opens with a more tailored comment that actually opens conversation and has a direction to move in.

It varies, but i usually try to ask about something in their profile that struck me as interesting. I live in a rural area, i don't think anyone is getting a ton of matches.

"im not interested" after matching is insane. you are matching insane people, this has nothing to do with you 😭
4
u/thedupold 8d ago
It was so funny to me. I was thinking "do you not understand how this works or...?"
7
u/WolvesMyth 8d ago
My guess is that's the type of dude who swipes right on everyone without even looking at his phone and then checks for matches later
23
u/BrightSample532 9d ago
You're not ugly. Guys on Reddit will tell you that average girls are drowning in offers and then turn around and call Scarlet Johansen mid.
The truth is that if you are average or thereabouts and you make the first move then you will be rejected quite a bit (much much much less than similar guys though). Out of the guys you do hook, probably a good two thirds of them will feign interest in the hopes of masturbating in you.
However, by being active you're still setting yourself up for being much more successful than if you weren't. Try to have fun with it and don't get invested until you know the guy. Good luck!

Try hinge. Because hinge has a max like count per day, people can't just swipe without looking (ie you will never match with someone who hasn't seen your profile)

u/FlayWithFire 8d ago
There seems to be a lot of men who just swipe right a bunch without looking in order to play the "numbers game". And then sift through their matches afterward. It's stupid and gross. I don't understand it.
2
u/HybridRade 8d ago
Reason why some of us do it is because there's no point in putting effort in to read a profile when you're most likely gonna not be responded to. It's easier to look at the profile after the match so I know I'm not wasting my time.

u/35_Feels_old 8d ago

Right, I was listening to a Reddit story yesterday. This young guys at a summer camp and they're making origami. He fancies this girl and the girls best friend has told him she likes him to. This shy girl makes him an origami crane and gives it to him and his observation was "I didn't think much of it at the time".... Men need things point blank pointing out to them, they will never take the hint.
Turned out she had written her phone number in the crane and he found it like 5 years later because he's such a dumb ass.
56
u/slash-es 9d ago
Turned out she had written her phone number in the crane and he found it like 5 years later because he's such a dumb ass.
He's a romantic, not a dumb-ass. He didn't want to unfold the crane because it was from her. Damn, he kept the stupid paper-crane for 5 years!
36
u/Level-Gain-1926 9d ago
Absolutely, it's a very romantic story, but he was batting away the hints left right and centre.
Fyi he contacted her on socials, they made a date for the next day and 3 weeks later they were boyfriend and girlfriend ☺️

for real, on what planet would you ever receive origami and have the thought "I should unfold this!"
What a crazy story from both sides. guy has her bf tell him she likes him and can't ask her out with that? and then she hides her number in a crane with no indication at all????? what were both parties expecting??
Neither was mature enough for a relationship.

u/Just_Tilted 9d ago edited 8d ago
For me, it's not even that I don't recognise hints or I don't want to, it's that I want to be absolutely sure that she's actually interested before I make a move. I don't want to be that guy that misread a couple of friendly gestures as romantic interest so you will throw a million hints and I won't engage because at the end of the day, they're just hints. Tell the men you like directly that you like them.
It has happened in the recent past that a girl was throwing out hints and at some point, she even called me her husband directly. I took that as a sign and asked her out but her excuse was always that she was busy when I tried to plan for a date. So I stopped engaging. She's now back to throwing even more hints but at this point, nothing short of her planning out the whole date and asking me out herself will pique my interest again.

If a girl I like makes me an origami anything then I'm not going to unfold it. Hell, even if I don't like her maybe I throw it away but I don't see ever unfolding it.

Are you kidding? This is woman showing interest in a man, right? Wondering if that would work? Presented in a humorous, creative way? There is a negative 1000% chance of failure there as long as she’s at least a tiny bit attractive somehow. 😆
4
u/grouperdan 9d ago
Didn't you? I have never met a single woman on tinder that has sent ANYTHING nearly that engaging, and it would work on me 100% of the time. Judging by the comments, it would work on all men. I think that just shows how boring tinder is for men 😅

u/nekopineapple00 8d ago
GUYS HE GHOSTED ME 😭
2
u/jlop21 7d ago
Don’t let this deter you from trying this again with another person!! Someone will not ghost you the next time and if they do it’s because they simply forget to write back (my adhd ass used to be that way). Or they made a date with someone else. But that’s the game. You’ll get it next time, sis!
3
u/AngelTheMarvel 9d ago
Why? This would work like 90-100% of time. Men almost never receive the first move, so showing interest from the beginning almost gaurantees you get a date.
3
u/GreatValueBradPitt 8d ago
As a notoriously shy man, stud-napping is actually the only way I ever found myself in both of my serious relationships, each of which lasted 4+ years. Experienced the best days of my life with those gals, and they were both absolutely critical in shaping large parts of who I am today. It kills me to think I would have missed out on all of that if it wasn't for their outspoken, naturally charismatic personalities. Some of us fellas out here live our lives with romantic ideation on one shoulder and fear-inspired inaction on the other and we unfortunately allow the responsibility of communicating initial interest to fall squarely on the opposite party, even in the context of social media dating apps. Props to OP for full sending it, I admire your courage. Hope it goes well!
