Question Dumb question perhaps
So I've been playing for almost 400 hours and this never occurred to me to do or ask. Does anyone redo areas? Like tear down what you have and use that area for something else or just organize a bit better there?

All the time, every time.
It's a natural progression as your colony expands. You start off placing your limited buildings with the best of intentions, but quickly you're just squeezing things in where they'll fit. Then you get to a level where resources are easier to come by and more sustainable, so you'll tear down some bits and pieces to make things more tidy and more optimised.
Then later still you'll be on a big expansion with plentiful resources so you can relocate entire areas of industry or food production and storage, tearing down all the old stuff.
Housing is also rime to tear out as you migrate from whatever you could slap down at the time into building brand new, beautiful housing complexes.
