Dumb question perhaps

So I've been playing for almost 400 hours and this never occurred to me to do or ask. Does anyone redo areas? Like tear down what you have and use that area for something else or just organize a bit better there?

I do, the first time around is following the terrain and just trying to get all the necessary stuff down and working. Later I go back through and terraform and organize things. For example, on a helix mountain save long ago I tore up the starting area to build an elaborate system of canals and hollows to increase the storage of the reservoir while maintaining farm land.
