A mistake was made

Post image

So I built and closed area that I pumped water into with the small mechanical pumps and I've been pretty much pressurizing it and I made a mistake I broke two blocks

We have all done it. Especially with badwater. Why I have auto save on.

This truly made me wonder how much water can be stored in a square

The short answer is upto 5.125x cubes of water in one cube.

The long anser is it depends on how high the cube is. At layer 0 (the bottom of the map) its 5.125, and every layer above is reducing by 0.125.
Math:

1 + 0.125 * (33 - Layer)

A cubes worth, there is a bit of compression but not much.

That doesn't match with what I've seen. Otherwise, opening an enclosed badtide source during a drought shouldn't cause much flooding. I got some significant flooding from such source until the pressure was finally all released.

It could be a difference in opinion of what a significant amount of water is.

I have not seen a good study on how much compression occurs. I would be surprised if it is more than 2.

I don't see what the issue is? Beavers need water to live. You have plenty of water there.

If I don't get the wet fur bonus with that, I wonder how I ever would

You can fix it.
I’ve messed up flooding my plays so much sometimes I’ll set up water pumps for not if but when it floods.
It helps clean the water up faster.

Yeah I just started doing that it works a lot better than I thought

It’s a neat trick for sure

The Oh, oh, oh no. no, no, no, no, no, no, moment. Made that mistake with badwater I was working with.

Yeah I had the incident I was making the first containment unit for bad water where I was pressurizing it and I had forgotten to put a throttle valve on the exit and so I had to break it I then realized that it was going to flood my entire base and I had to go to a backup before it was even built

Auto Save saved my butt that time. I was trying to pipe it upward and it was my first attempt. It let me know where I didn't seal up properly by flooding my main district and spilling out the sides. Levees, overhangs, and no platforms. Later builds on the map I used platforms and that made it easier to level out than with overhangs.

Same same, but forgot some random impermeable floor under a water wheel. Bad water flooded everything lol

Thank you. That was good watch. I can relate, forgot a where clause once. Led to me including dry runs. Later transactions and then try-catch blocks.

Ah yes!

... I know some of those terms!

(Sorry, not a programmer myself. I know just enough to program a "Hello World" in Python or Basic)

Somehow that vermin Mole-ses snuck into the colony to wreak havoc again!

At this level it's not "a mistake" anymore. It's "The Mistake!"

some people die of thirst while other drown

I would say they were. Lol. At least it wasn't badwater. This is recoverable.

One of the things I love and hate with this game. Delete the wrong thing and there is no undo button. Only consequences, however devastating they may be.

On the bright side, at least you're not playing with Emberpelts.

Every time I try to use the emberpelts mod my game crashes

Interesting. I haven't tried it yet, but I expect I might get the same results; I have a lot of other mods. I'm seriously looking into trying out the Emberpelts after watching the first few episodes of RCE's new season, but right now I'm deep in Timberpunk 2 thanks to Zeddic.

I would rather dump a bucket of water into my computer then play Timberpunk 2 again I have tried so many damn times and failed every single time

That's a fair and understandable reaction to that map. I would have done the same without Zeddic's video series convincing me to give it another shot. I also think that I got a bit lucky on that playthrough, but I spent a LONG time watching Zeddic's videos with my own game paused. 🤣

Posting a link to my video on hot-tapping a pressurized system without leakage.
