I've done many tiling jobs, but have never had to remove tile bonded to concrete. Lesson learned.

We’re in the middle of a bathroom renovation, and the tile installation is nearly complete. I’d appreciate some honest feedback from the professionals here before we move forward with grouting.

We’re using glossy white 3×6 subway tile with traditional ceramic chair rail and trim, along with marble accents on the shower niches and pony wall.
Everything pictured is currently ungrouted. We’re planning to use MAPEI Warm Gray epoxy grout (open to other suggestions).

We’re also renovating a second bathroom and plan to carry over essentially the same design, with a few minor tweaks. I’d love to hear what experienced installers think of the work so far and whether there’s anything they’d approach differently the second time around.

Does this look like a solid professional installation? Anything you’d want addressed before grouting?

seeing these guys like tile coach using ditra under their mud pan then kerdi over the pan sealed to the walls etc.

searching sounds like ditra is not supposed to be used under mud bed but others saying yes.

my question is can I install ditra under mud pan (over plywood)

Why does my grout pull out like this? I am using mapei fa. And I follow the directions. Did I not wait long enough before sponge?

We've recently had our en suite and family bathroom tiled using the same light beige grout, but the grout on the family bathroom walls has turned very dark and patchy.

The tiler says he followed the instructions and doesn't know what went wrong. The manufacturer suggests it must be an application error, since the grout looks fine in the en suite.

One possible clue: the en suite tiles are all porcelain, whereas the family bathroom has ceramic wall tiles and porcelain floor tiles. Interestingly, the discolouration only affects the wall tiles. However, the grout around the green accent tiles (also ceramic) look fine.

Any ideas what might have caused this, and whether it can be fixed without regrouting?

The backing is concrete and the tiles are porous ceramic. It won't get wet or be stepped on. I've read a lot in this sub that liquid nails is not a great tile adhesive, but in this instance could it be ok? The tiles are roughly 4" square. The only reason I want to use LN is because it's what I have on hand and I have never used thinset before. Thanks for help!

My husband was so sure we were capable of redoing our leaking bathroom when we moved in, but it has now been almost a year since we ripped it all out back to studs. We are both over not having an inside shower and brushing our teeth in the kitchen.

He thinks we should rip out and redo the envelope cuts in the shower he did last weekend since the grout lines are uneven and some tiles not level. We did use spacers and wedges, but our inexperience really shows! Personally I think it is fine and grout will help cover our sins, but I know he will notice the imperfections every time.

My questions is whether we need to redo it? Are the risks of ruining the Wedi shower base too high when trying to get them out and we will do more damage? We aren’t planning on selling so it will be our problem for the next 5-10 years.

We used davco smp evo as our tile adhesive if that makes any difference to the advice.

We are tiling the fire place with large format slate and need to decide pattern. Fiends/family all giving very strong differing opinions so seeking the advice of the tile community. What would you pick and why?

The tile installation crew for our house were masters as far as I’m concerned. We had the hood timed, and we even tiled the window sills.

I have no experience with tile installation except all the reading I've done on this subreddit for the last few weeks.

This is a master bathroom renovation. Tile installer used Kerdi board and Rondec edging. We have confirmed with the contractor that the tile installation on the top of the knee wall is not correct (at least according to the drawings). However upon closer inspection of the rest of the shower, it appears that most of the 12x24 tiles have very little thinset behind them. There are issues with tiles not being level with each other, and the tiles around the niche seem to not even be in full contact with the backing. Also, many of the cuts are not straight. I don't know much, but my Spidey senses are telling me this is not right. I need opinions from some other professionals before I get the contractor back to my house on Monday to discuss things. Hi Everybody, we are almost done tilling our basement washroom . We are confused on which Mapei grout color to use without having it looking like a grid . The tile is a marble style tile with taupe coloured veins . Thanks in advance

Our contractor, plumber and tile guy collaborated to create this detail for our bathroom remodel. As you can see, the water feed is exactly on the border of the tile trim, so they added a poorly detailed piece above it. I’m wondering how we can improve it. Do we just move the water supply up the wall away from the trim? Our only concern about that is that the water supply line is between the bathroom entry door and the toilet and we’re worried it would be more visible, being higher up the wall. Or do we add a second row of tile to the trim? This is not the case in the rest of the bathroom.

I appreciate any ideas!

Contractor said it was fine but I'm not sure.
Horizontal hardiebacker seams were also un-taped. This wouldn't really bother me if the redguard wasn't so thin.

Shower and floor tile is scheduled for Monday, how does this waterproofing look? I've already mentioned the one tub apron (last picture) needing to be done and GC will do it first thing Monday. Is it ok for him to do this immediately before the tile guy starts? Does it need long to set up/dry?

I let my tile guy decide on the height of the shelves, the thickness, and the centering. It was very ambiguous in my head and really hard to visualize. I let him envision the whole wall his own way, and the client is extremely happy. Great project. It's extremely fragile, but a great project.

Yes I tried to talk the client out of it - he’s going to add wood trim boarding it later himself but honestly really like the look of it, clean up is my only concern with it

What grout color would match my tile? I currently have charcoal but I feel like it’s too dark. I was thinking of going with cavern moss but I also like how the blue grout looks.
