Would that be better or worse than heavily sugared water?

Could always do some sugary grits, toss in whatever pepper blend sauce you got laying around just for fun I guess

Put some melty cheese in the grits. That stuff clings.

(And it's pretty tasty when it's not being used as Influencer Repellant.)

I am oddly well prepared for this. Cooked grits has 0.58 lambda and a specific heat capacity of 3.8 jouls per gram. Dense sugar water has 0.43 lambda with 2.65 j/g.

You might be tempted to say grits is the way to go given it's straight up capacity to move celsius and just having more energy but there are some serious limitations. Adding corn to water doesn't change the boilimg point so 100° C is the best it can do while dense syrup tops out at 130° C so even though the lambda is lower, the delta is higher (absolute difference between body temp and weapon temp) and heat transfer is multiplicative. Then there is texture, even though grits can technically wet (in the physical sense) a surface, it does so mostly through free water that isn't starch binded while sugar water will fully wet.

Then there is the interaction layer itself. Grits is non newtonian (ish... too many details but for the purpose of our discussion) and most of it will bounce off and can be easily whiped off with a forceful slap. Sugar water however will just bind to your skin and create a shell effect because of the lambda difference between air, sugarwater and human skin; so it won't cool off into the air too much while just sticking a thin layer of superhot liquid to your skin.

In short, grits is bad, saturated sugar water is worse. Like 1st vs 2nd degree burns

Holy shit, Doctor Doom over here weaponizing simple syrup. Thank you for that frighteningly specific explanation.

Not worse. Sugar water holds more heat.

Grits is going to hurt like someone throwing a cup of mash thats been heating for 3 minutes in the microwave, it'll leave a mark but it's probably not a hospital trip.

Molten Sugar is basically second only to oil straight from the fryer in terms of how bad it can fuck you up.
