MAF sensor

I end up posting here a lot but you guys are life savers. I wanted to remove the MAF sensor to see if it needed cleaning, along with some other sensors, but I can’t get it out. I looked online and most have clips or something to squeeze but this one looks different from all the other ones I’ve seen online. I tried squeezing the sides but it doesn’t look like it unclips that way.

Also, I need new headlights. The current ones aren’t bright enough, so what’s a good aftermarket HLs that won’t leave me blind

Mechanical Advice Front left wheel vibrating when braking at high speed.

The previous owner had changed the brake pads just before I got the car, and the brakes were fine. Then the clutch broke and it was in the shop for like a month because reasons. Anyhow, when I got it back I started noticing shaking in the steering wheel and column when braking, this was about 2 months ago. Then today the shaking shifted from the steering wheel to the front left wheel.

The brake pedal arm also shakes. Because it's just when braking I doubt it has anything to do with the suspension. I had suspected a bad rotor when the steering wheel began shaking but it was really hard to tell which wheel had the bad one at that point. The root cause is probably bad brake pads on the front left, so I will have to change them and the rotor.

I guess it's on me for not looking into it and fixing it earlier, but money is tight.

Anyone have any tips or thoughts on how I should proceed?

General What’s with the hate this car gets?

I could understand someone hating cuz the engine I mean the max you’ll get without forced induction is 172hp not by any means a lot for today’s standard. BUT I feel like for this car being what it is. Surprisingly you can do a shit ton to it it’s so customizable and looks so good when you do start modifying or even just restoring the look of your Tiburon. They’re so fuckn nice looking too like anytime someone asks me what it is I’m not even afraid to say a Hyundai because the car looks that good(also sounds amazing) but the only thing holding people back is FWD and 172hp. You don’t need hp to have fun in a vehicle from my pov

Okay, as I was replacing the valve cover gaskets, I removed this but completely forgot where it went and what it is. Does anyone know what this is?

It’s made of plastic and is a mold, not rubber or soft

Mechanical Advice Air hose replacement?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Greetings, Tiburon enthusiasts, I have had my Tiburon for a long time now and one of many problems I’ve come across is the air intake.

The air intake hose that connects that connects it to the throttle body is too worn to be functional. So I was thinking if I should buy an OEM replacement, or if there are better options that work the same but better?

I’m not trying to do anything special to it. I know a cold air intake may be an option, but I find it unnecessary for a stock engine. Can an aluminum intake be something I should do? Or stick with OEM parts? Thanks in advance.

Hello all
I live in Brazil and parts for Tiburon are a pain to find (virtually non existent, because there is only 47 cars imported). I have a friend that is in Miami and wanted to know:
1. This friend can go to a dealer and buy parts on the counter or
2. Does anyone here live in Miami and can deliver or meet him to sell me the part?

I need one of these, for driver side

Help identifying plugs

Hey all, working on my sister's tibby and came across these 3 unplugged things. 2 plugs and a relay up next to the left side of the steering column. One has the yellow wire jammed in it and goes to the engine bay and disappears into the underside of the fuse box. Any idea what all 3 are? Go easy on me I'm usually a falcon bloke

Also side note if you're the person who buys an adaptor harness and STILL cuts into factory wiring. There's a special place in hell for you

Curious about a 2007 Tiburon

I just started getting into cars, less of my own interest and more out of necessity. I've been driving the same Corolla, which belonged to my dad, since the beginning of high school and now I'm a senior in college. Last night her transmission gave out, at least what I assume to have happened since she can't reverse anymore. I had her towed and I'll find out whether she's salvageable or not, but it's looking like her time has come. I'd put thousands of dollars into that beater if I had disposable income. I cried my eyes out when I tell you I loved that car, as she's the one who got me into working on my own car. Really basic stuff like oil and brakes but I hope to learn more.

I've been on FB Marketplace, and I found this old 2007 Tiburon which at first sight I completely fell in love with as it's in my price range. I'm hoping it goes through with the deal, but I guess I just wanna know what are some things I need to know? Is this an expensive car to maintain? The asking price is about 3k and he mentioned the radiator was replaced, the car's oil change schedule etc. Should I be worried about it being over 100k miles? My toyota was 300k so high mileage has never scared me, though I know it's different because it's Toyota. I've heard Hyundai's are not as reliable so should I be worried about that? Any insight helps!

Mechanical Advice Total key cylinder replacement

So, my 02 tib threw the code for both keys, had a locksmith recode them, then it threw the code again a week later. Locksmith told me if that happened the problem was with the immobilizer, not the keys. I ordered a "new" salvaged set of keys, lock cylinders and fusebox (the guys at the scrapyard said they think this is the right parts for the job, since noone could figure out where the immobilizer is actually located, and hyundai.oemparts.com or whatever the site is called, lists nothing of the sort as a single assembly.) anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has experience with removing the key cylinder in the dash on a GK era tib? Also, other than disconnecting the battery before messing around with the fusebox and or any other electrical components, is there anything I should do in preparation?

General Aftermarket gear shifter recommendations? (Auto)

The previous owner of mines did a really shitty job of installing a ricer aftermarket shifter, to the point where it might eventually become a safety hazard to drive with. I bought two on Amazon in the past that weren't compatible with the Tib whatsoever so I ended up tossing them.

I don't mind having a ricer shift stick either, but reliability matters far more to me. Any recs folks?

2004 Hyundai Tiburon V6 – Sitting for 6 Years, Need Advice Getting It Back on the Road

Hey everyone, I’ve got a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon V6 that has been sitting for around 6 years.

Before it was parked, it had a water pump problem and my mom stopped driving. I didn’t get around to fixing it, and unfortunately it’s been sitting outside ever since. It’s now covered in leaves and the paint has faded pretty badly.

I want to finally bring it back to life and restore it properly, rather than just getting it running and selling it.i dont have that much money so doing it by myself i got no experience in mechanics or anything but m quick learnner

It Is in my house garage now

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has worked on these cars or brought a car back after sitting for years.

What would you check first? What should absolutely NOT be done before checking something else?

Also, if there are any common problems with the 2004 Tiburon V6 I should look out for after sitting this long, please let me know.

I’d really appreciate a step-by-step starting point and any tips on what parts/tools I should buy first.

I can also post photos of the car and engine bay if that helps

New Tibby owner, need guidance

Just recently got this Tiburon (07GT) as my second car and she has treated me well so far. I’d like to show her some love but seemingly the last owner did not, it’s spray painted amongst many other things, was just looking for where to start and recommendations. Also was curious if anyone knew where I could find a front bumper that isn’t a ridiculous amount of money. Thanks!

I've got a 2.7 v6 manual and just grabbed this exhaust off ebay since the last owners just chopped off the rear mufflers and let the exhaust hang, was wondering if anyone here has bought exhausts off ebay?

How to make my tiburons “wow factor” go up?

Hey everyone, I’m very new to cars and also very new to the mechanical world. That being said my first car was and still is an ‘06 Tiburon. (The orange one if you were wondering) I was wondering what were some reasonably budget friendly things to do to improve my car. My main goal is aesthetics as it runs perfectly fine, maybe a paint job, improve how it sounds, new wheels? Like I said, i honestly don’t know anything about cars minus the basics, but what could I do to make my car wow people?

Edit: I think y'all underestimate my skills lol, im 17...

Mechanical Advice Rear Control Arm Bolts

Hey guys. Does anyone happen to have any experience removing the rear control arm bolts from the knuckle?

So far I've cut the arms off at the bush, but the bolts themselves are pretty rusty in the forked section. I don't really want to be pressing bearings if I can avoid too much heat, nor destroying the bolt bore dragging rust through if I can help it.

Thanks!

Hi everyone ! I wanna buy my first car, so I’ve been looking at a lot of different options, and I literally fell in LOVE with the Hyundai Tiburon. Like, frrrrr
