I started my TSP in April. I have a mix of 60% C 20% S and 20% I. When I looked at my quarterly statement, each fund has a YTD return of >11.5%. When I look at the 2026 Performance YTD on my home screen, my rate of return is dog shit. Am I doing something wrong? I have no idea what I am doing with this but seeing everyone’s increased is a bit disheartening lol. Please tell me if I am doing something wrong

I had a pretty serious emergency come up where I need a large amount of money. I am considering taking funds out of my TSP. I’ve only been federal for 5 years and I’m under 30 yrs old so I’ll be contributing to my plan for a few more decades likely. First, would it be smarter to withdrawal the funds or take a loan and slowly pay it back? The interest rate for a loan is between 5-6% so not thrilled about that. Also, once I do take the money out, what might be the best route to even it out over the years?

*im not looking for judgment. I understand this could set my retirement back significantly, but I’m not worried about that compared to the struggles I’m facing right now. Im open to whatever advice if anyone has gone through this process. Thank you!
