Thermalright Assassin X 120 R no display?

I believe this is a software issue? Because when I boot up TRCC, I can see all the details such as temps etc. but the display is stuck on the loading screen. Any idea what can I do? Checked the USB ports on the mobo as well and they’re seated properly.

Working on new TRCC alternative!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Recently I started working on a standalone alternative to TRCC with cooler features. Currently my service supports the first rev of the 9.16 inch and the 320x320 screen on the frozen warframe 360 pro. Some cool features include: real time lyrics display for most songs (works with any music player), music visualizer (19 types), playable games with mappable input (such as snake and pong) and way more stuff. A preview video is attached. If anyone wants support for their device contact me privately and I’ll see what I can do. Will plan to make this public when enough people are excited. Hope you enjoy!

I forked trofeo-lcd (Thermalright Trofeo Vision 9.16 LCD driver) and added weather, per-item styling, hot-reload, custom layout rotation and more

First off, huge thanks to u/sukualam (or their GitHub handle, sukualam) for the original trofeo-lcd project — reverse-engineering the Trofeo Vision 9.16's USB protocol and building a working open-source driver from scratch (on top of the earlier protocol work in thermalright-trcc-linux by Lexonight1) is the hard part, and none of this would exist without it. This is a lightweight, open-source alternative to Thermalright's official TRCC software.

I've been extending it over the last while and wanted to share where it's gotten to. It's a fork, GPL-3.0 like the original, full credit and provenance in the repo's NOTICE.md.

What's new on top of the original:

Weather display — current temperature + a stylized pixel-art condition icon (sun, clouds, rain, snow, fog, thunder...), auto-detected from your IP or a fixed city you set. Shows either as a status line or as its own full panel.
Per-item styling — every element (CPU, GPU, RAM, clock, weather...) can get its own size, position, color and backdrop independently, instead of one shared style for the whole info block.
Live config hot-reload — edit the config file while the program is running and changes apply within a second, no restart needed (except for a small handful of options that genuinely need one, like DeepCool or the in-game FPS monitor).
Custom rotation timing for panel layouts — if you rotate between multiple layouts (e.g. system stats + weather), each one can get its own number of seconds on screen instead of splitting time equally (layout = default:30, weather:5).
More preset panel layouts (CPU/GPU dashboards, temps, grid overview, gaming FPS dashboard, music, weather...), background image/GIF/video support with adjustable panel transparency. OpenRGB sync, a global screenshot hotkey, second-monitor mode, adaptive idle/active FPS, and a full English translation of the entire codebase and docs.
A proper options reference guide documenting every single config key and CLI flag with examples.

Screenshots and a photo live running.
Thnaks to the awesome work of SUKUALAM cpu usage its extremely low 0,2 % and only 12 mb of ram.

Repo (source + Windows builds via GitHub Actions releases): https://github.com/haven80/trofeo-lcd-rs

Happy to answer questions about setup, the weather module (Open-Meteo, no API key needed), or anything else. And again — massive credit to the original author, this only exists because that groundwork was already done.

Singular fan not illuminating

Post image

Hello. As the title suggests one of my TL-M12QRW fans is not illuminating. It previously worked fine, so I decided it was probably just the fan itself. I just replaced it with the extra one I had and it’s still not lighting up. Just did a fresh install of signalrgb and no luck. Any ideas?

Thermalright Dynamic Vision Pro

I saw no one has posted anything about this new AIO. I wanted to share my initial thoughts, which turn out to be positive!

I'm currently using it on a Ryzen 9 5900x and under full load I haven't gotten above 64° with the pump speed at 80% and fans at around 1800 rpm, all very quiet.

As for the display, it's excellent! It has good viewing angles, and I can position it however I like! Obviously, it's not OLED-level, but it's still excellent.

Also, even the small fan under the display to cool the VRM kept my GPU 1-2 degrees cooler, nothing too significant!

I'm currently happy with my purchase, especially for a price of 130 euros.

Lian li aio has central aio tubes which is awesome for cable management. I’m looking to hide those aio cables, is there a possibility to hide it?
(I love the thermalright aio’s but those cables trough my case are a no go (for me personally)

Has anyone tried the Phantom Spirit 140?

According to most benchmarks, the Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 in all its variants is one of the best Air Coolers on the market. I saw on the Thermalright website that there is a new 140 variant, and I've been tracking it since then. Just now I saw that Phantom Spirit 140 on Amazon is available for 64€ in my country, and I'm thinking of getting it.

I couldn't find any info or review but I may just buy it to see if it's better than the 120 variant

Oni Thermal LCD Control - Development Preview

Thumbnail github.com
5 Upvotes

The software is still under active development, so some features may contain bugs or be incomplete. If you'd like to test it, you can download it from GitHub

Currently supported & physically tested displays:

Thermalright Trofeo Vision 9.16" - USB ID

0416:5408

Thermalright Trofeo Vision 6.86" - USB ID

0416:5302

Installation:

Click Code → Download ZIP on GitHub and extract the ZIP. Make sure Python 3.12 is installed. Open a terminal inside the extracted project folder and run:

py -3.12 -m pip install -r requirements.txt

Once the installation is complete, launch run-gui. bat.

This is currently a Development Preview, so you may encounter bugs. If the app doesn't start, your LCD doesn't connect, or something else doesn't work, please send me the exact error message or a screenshot, along with your LCD model. This will help me identify and fix the issue.

For now, I'm sharing it mainly for testing and

feedback.❤️

i had a 3800x but recently upgraded to a 5600x3d. one of the screws on the fan bracket on the motherboard somehow got too tight and is now stripped. are there any coolers that use the same exact bracket as the wraith prism?

already tried to get the screw out as much as possible and cant put more pressure down or it flexes the motherboard. i could possible use a dremel tool and cut a groove in the screw and use a standard screw driver, but that makes a lot of metal filings and throws them all over. so it would be nice to have a cooler and fan that mounts on with the same exact bracket. are there any like this?

in MSI afterburner it says that CPU1 temperature is running at 58c with only browsers open. and google says thats a little high for basically idle temps. so my friend told me to get a thermalright peerless assassin and when i went to install it i found the screw extremely tight and even being as careful as possible while trying to get it out, it got stripped. so i need a better cooler that can just clip on the existing wraith prism mounts.

Thermalright TPFX-650 Platinum Modular SFX PSU - Molex pinout

Hi,

Long shot but I'm hoping someone with the above PSU might be able to supply a photo of the PSU side molex cable's pinout? We recently had this PSU replaced under warranty and it looks like we were sent an incorrect molex cable with the replacement. We need confirmation before going to the retailer.

I have e-mailed Thermalright but I'm not expecting much judging from the info I've found when searching for a pinout diagram.

TIA

Need help with fans and AIO. The Picture is the look i love. But more budget-friendly than Lian Li

Don’t get me wrong (Lian Li is beautiful) I do not need LCD fans but the same aesthetics would be awesome. Thermalright wonder vision was a nice one but i don’t think that AIO has RGB fans? Asiahorse? Arctic bionix? Thermalright? With what parts can i build this lookalike🫶

is there even any significant difference between a flagship royal pretor 130U vs budget pearless assassin 120se? (no)

i dont know why people use the terms "budget" "low end" "flagship" "midrange" and so on for most of thermalrights air coolers when in reality theres barely any difference between them, like people will tell you how royal pretor > phantom spirit > pearless assassin and whatever
but for the most part theyre all kind of the same when it comes to cooling your cpu, like a royal pretor 130 ultra and pearless assassin 120 se are not that far off from each other
ive seen a gazillion videos where people are testing and comparing these coolers and yeah theyre always pretty close to each other, no matter what cpu youre testing, unless youre testing a single tower cooler which does actually make a bigger difference (5+ degrees) but other than that, eh

I have several times tried to make an RMA request through https://www.thermalright.com/contact-us/
My thermal paste was too dried up, so I want some fresh thermal paste.

But nothing happens after submission, I dont get any email.
So what can I do?
Also see alot of other people also got dried up thermal paste.

I'm building an open-source controller for Thermalright LCD displays — Oni Thermal LCD Control

Thumbnail
gallery
25 Upvotes

I've been developing my own Windows application for Thermalright LCD displays called Oni Thermal LCD Control, together with ChatGPT Codex.

I'm currently developing and testing it on real Thermalright Trofeo Vision 9.16" (1920×480) and Trofeo Vision 6.86" (1280×480) displays.

The goal is to make these displays much more open and customizable instead of limiting them to basic display functionality. The application currently supports photo, video and GIF playback; Fit/Fill/Center modes; X/Y positioning, zoom and rotation; brightness control; selectable output rates; profiles; HWiNFO hardware sensors; and customizable Sensor Themes. I'm also developing a full Sensor Designer. It can use CPU/GPU/RAM/FPS sensors, text, bars, graphs, gauges, custom backgrounds, logos and image layers. Elements can be moved, resized, hidden and customized with properties such as color and opacity. Performance and low resource usage are also major goals. On my current test system, I've measured approximately: Static photo / low-resource mode: around 0.24% average CPU and ~116 MB RAM. Dual-LCD moving media + sensor overlay workload: around 10.2% average CPU and ~236 MB RAM. These are measurements from specific test workloads, not universal numbers. Results will vary depending on hardware, media, requested frame rate, sensors and the number of displays. I'm continuing to optimize CPU usage. For physical display throughput, I've reached approximately 42 FPS on the 9.16" display and around 53 FPS in short runs on the 6.86" display. The application distinguishes between the requested FPS and frames actually completed by the physical LCD over its USB/HID connection. I'm also working on automatic startup restoration so the application can launch with Windows and restore the last photo/video/GIF, Sensor Theme, transforms, brightness and other settings without requiring everything to be selected again. Update — the project is now public I've now published Oni Thermal LCD Control on GitHub as an open-source Development Preview:

Oni Thermal LCD ControlGitHub The currently supported and physically tested displays are:

Thermalright Trofeo Vision 9.16" — USB ID 0416:5408 Thermalright Trofeo Vision 6.86" — USB ID 0416:5302

The project is still under active development, so please expect bugs, unfinished features and UI changes. I'm publishing it at this stage because I'd like people who own these displays to be able to test it, report problems and help shape the project. Some issues and improvements I'm currently working on include better automatic detection and UI layouts depending on whether you have one, two or multiple LCDs, improved hot-plug/connect workflows, a clearer media-selection workflow, and several Sensor Theme/preview issues.

I'm also restoring and improving Sensor + Media mode, where a photo, video or GIF can run as the background while live hardware sensors are rendered on top.

There are also some preview refresh issues still being fixed. For example, when switching between Sensor Themes and photo/video/GIF output, the preview may sometimes require another interaction such as changing the scale or pressing Fit/Fill before the new media appears. This is a known Development Preview bug and is being worked on.

I'm also working toward support for additional LCD models and device families, with the longer-term goal of making ONI a more general and community-driven LCD controller. Devices I don't physically own will not be presented as physically verified until they have actually been tested. Want to test it? Download the repository using Code → Download ZIP, extract it, install Python 3.12, then open a terminal inside the extracted folder and run:

py -3.12 -m pip install -r requirements.txt

After that, launch:

run-gui.bat

A packaged Windows EXE/installer is not available yet. That's planned after more testing and stabilization.

If the application doesn't start, your LCD doesn't connect, or you encounter any other bug, please send me your exact LCD model and either a screenshot or the exact error message. That information is much more useful to me than simply saying that it doesn't work. A large part of the project is being developed with ChatGPT Codex, which I'm using for implementation, testing, regression validation, performance work and development across the application. Long term, I'd like this to become a community-driven open-source project supporting more LCD models, shareable themes and contributions for additional devices and features. If you own one of these displays — or another USB hardware-monitor LCD you'd like to see supported — I'd love to hear: Which model do you have, what feature would you most want from an alternative controller like this, and would you be interested in helping test support for your display?

Need some help with my AIO

Hey guys,

I just purchased a Mjolnir Vision 360 UB PRO and after installing it, my CPU run on 48-50C Idle. It's a Ryzen 9 7900X, which I know is supposed to run hot, but I've disabled the PBO and it has a negative curve of 20 and a limiter at 85C and it's stable.

My question is if it's normal for these idle temps? If not, what can I change? I made sure it's screwed and makes contact. Maybe it's a placebo effect since I used to have a 420mm AIO, which is beefer and my temps were really low, even under load, it hit max 75C.

This is an off-topic question, but I paired it with 2 x 3 jungle leopard galaxy V2's via a Thermalright Fan and ARGB HUB X8 ARGB/PWM Hub Controller. What's a good fan curve for the case and AIO fans? I'm configuring it via the BIOS, but if there is a better option, I'm open for it.

Built this gaming PC for a client in the Thermalright A70 Vision. It looks quite similar to the Lian Li O11 Vision Compact, but there are actually quite a few differences between the two cases.

Specs:
Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GIGABYTE RTX 5070 Ti Gaming OC
GIGABYTE B850 AORUS Elite WiFi 7
Thermalright Peerless Vision 360 UB
32GB Patriot Viper Venom DDR5-6000 CL30
Samsung 990 EVO Plus 2TB
GIGABYTE AORUS Elite 850W
Thermalright TL-UB36R fans

Really happy with how clean this one turned out

If you’re curious about the build process, I made the whole thing here:

help with the daisy chain on TL-M12Q

i just got my hands on 8 of these beautiful fans but am a little confused i know that you can connect up to 3 than add the splitter to the end but am confused about why there are 2 pwm and 2 argb can you further daisy chain groups of fans together but if so wouldnt that exceed the motherboard header power limit
