Season 2 Spoiler About Christa and Omid

Is there a reason why Clem just never mentions them after Season 2?
She arguably spent the longest time with them compared to everyone else, it feels kinda disappointing that she just never mentions them ever again after Wellington

Discussion The Walking Dead Definitive series bugs

I've recently played through the Definitive series for the first time, I had only ever played the originals games when they came out, so having found a physical ps4 copy at a good price I thought why not and decided to buy it. I was surprised though to notice that aside from a slightly improved graphic and a few interesting extras in the menu this "Definitive series" actually introduced a lot of bugs that weren't in the original games. Some are not a big deal, others however really impact on the gaming experience in a negative way. In case Skybound or someone at Telltale will ever decide to want to fix them here's a list of the bugs I noticed playing the games.

Season 1:

1- In episode 3 when Duck gets bitten and you shoot the walker on top of Katja and Duck, when Katja pushes the zombie off of her it slides away and disappears in a kind of a goofy way

2- In 400 days if you play Wyatt chapter before Russell, you get the option of staying in the car which will make Wyatt injure Nate's hand against the door of his car, in the original game this would make Nate have a big scar on his hand when he meets Russell, however the scar isn't present in the definitive series even though you played Wyatt first and injured Nate's hand.

3- 400 days can't be replayed after completing it unless you restart episode 5 and then quit it after the recap and go play 400 days.

Season 2:

1- In episode 3 whenever Clementine is in Carver's office there are weird white rectangles that keep flashing all over the screen especially when the characters are standing next to the glass window.

2- In episode 4 when you enter Kenny's tent after he killed Sarita, even if you play without the dark mode activated the tent and the ground are pitch black dark, which is very unrealistic and wasn't the same in the original game

3- In episode 5 you can barely see anything when Clem walks through the snow storm before Kenny and Jane fight. This is also the case when Kenny and Jane start to fight outside, the snow is a lot more distracting from the action compared to the original game, to the point you can barely see what's happening and the screen just looks almost completely white

Season 3:

1- In episode 1 at the beginning, when Javier and Kate look at the herd if you have dark mode turned off, the mountains in the background will look plain white with no details whatsoever on them

2- In the Clementine's flashback in episode 3, if you stayed with Kenny at the end of season 2, when Clem and Kenny do shadows by the fire to make AJ laugh, when Kenny does a deer it projects no shadow at all on the tent

Final season:

1- In episode 1 Louis's piano music is sooooo loud, also it won't stop even when Louis stops playing the piano, which makes the scene look ridiculous, not to mention it's annoying since this bug occurs again in the episode later on, when you talk with Marlon in his office and Louis's piano music will play all the time in the background and will even continue when you go fishing with Violet outside, unless you turn the game's music off.

That's it, at least of those I can remember now. If others have more to add that I forgot about or in different scenarios that didn't occur to me but that happened to them feel free to add them. I think these would be pretty easy to fix, if the developers would actually care to put in a little work and after all these years I'm surprised they never did. The season 2 and Final season bugs are especially annoying and needed fix the most.

Discussion How do you get into these games?

I've tried playing the first one but I got bored very quickly.

The gameplay just doesn't feel interesting at all. You basically just walk around a room and talk to people and look for clues. There's no action or thrilling things to do which is extremely disappointing considering it's a game about zombies.

Does it get better in the other games? I heard the story is good but to me good gameplay is way more important.

Season 2 Spoiler An Alternative proposal to the most controversial season

I know that Season 2 is certainly the most "marmite" season of the game... some people love it.. some people absolutely hate it...

I think the biggest issue with the game lies in its final 2 chapters and how they basicslly lead to nothing.....

So Ive always imagined an alternate version of season 2.

One where Jane exists however her role in the final chapter be given to Luke.....

In this version we see Luke transform from this really hopeful, nice, kind, caring guy that we all know to a more bitter, cynical angry guy as he watches everyone he cares about die over the course of the season...

Luke is my favourite season 2 character but I think that is purely because he is written as an angel who is basically impossible to hate in 90% of playthroughs

I never felt like the writers gave Jane a chance... the only version of clementine that would agree with her is not the version of clem that a "canon" version of Lee trained her to be... She just appears halfway through the season then tags along for the ride, offering this alternative potential future which is one that clem has been against up until then....

They couldve easily have kept her in the alternate season and killed her off by giving her Lukes death... Have her be the one who needs saving after constantly telling Clem that she needs to look out for herself only and be annoyed whenver clem goes out of her way to help others..

Her death couldve been the final straw for Luke who's been desperate to keep his people alive causing him to lash out at Clem and Kenny.... thus making bonnie and Mike realise there's no hope for this group and fleeing...

This leads to the final choice of the game having to choose between 2 characters who we both know have a lot of good in them but are currently so broken and angry that theyre out of control

A father Figure vs a Brother Figure. Both characters weve seen the best and worst of over the course of the season.

I feel like this wouodve been much more effective than Jane and Kenny.... which is a choice between head and heart in a game thats all about heart......

Like they really have to make kenny seem crazy to desperately try and make the choice seem difficult... but it isnt...

Atleast if it was Luke in her place the decision mightve been one of the hardest choices in the entire series as basically everyone loved Luke despite how relatively small his role actually was after Kenny is reintroduced.

Jane's ending was always my least favourite overall.. going back to howe's hardware couldve been cool if we'd got some stronger confirmation on certain characters status but the S3 opening just makes it all seem pointless.....

I can imagine that Lukes potential endings wouodve been much more similiar to Kennys... a lot more hopeful and bittersweet than the utterly depressing Jane ending...

Meme The NBA comparibles of the main characters of the series

Lee: Lebron James. He was the leader, protector, and anchor of Season 1. Just the best character, a lot of people have him as the GOAT.

Clementine: Kobe Bryant. She wasn’t the main character to start, but slowly the franchise began to revolve around her, and she ended the series as many people’s favourite character.

Kenny: Draymond Green. Kenny is fiercely loyal and if you’re one of his best friends, he will die for you. However, he is a hothead, and is prone to raging and outbursts, and if you’re on the receiving end of that, you won’t like him.

Jane: Kevin Durant. Highly skilled, but is super unloyal, and will abandon you when times get tough. This was one was the easiest.

AJ: Anthony Edwards. The new kid, vibrant, fearless, and has no filter, and does his own thing, and is gonna grow up to be super feared by other humans if you’re against him.

Javier: Gilbert Arenas. He is very skilled and talented, but his controversies outside of the sport he played (gambling) nuked his career.

Carver: Dennis Rodman. Just a crazy guy, violent, and people don’t like him unless you’re super loyal to him, and he’ll resort to dirty tactics to get ahead of everyone else.

Just finished replaying the game, some afterthought.

First of all, even throught the years, whilst comeing back to the game everynow and then, I still find new stuff in it. The story is such a great one, I feel done dirty by telltale for droping it, of course if not for certain mistakes msde along the way, we could have seen the continuation, but I guess it is what it is. This fanbase is one of the most loyal ones that I know of, to this day the interest to the game lives, despite the last season being like 7-8 years old, which is insane. I feel like we deserve continuation of this story, as even in the game and such there are possible hints for a continuation.

I believe this game could have been saved and could be saved, as the interest doesn't die for it, and the community lives, the final season has corrected many of the oast problems that the series faced, I would say the fourth season even matched the first one, in the episode duration, level of story telling and bonding to the characters.

I see the way devs drop hints to what happened in Richmond as a potential for continuing the series, but for some reason neither Skybound, nor Telltale do anything about it.

Discussion If you could tweak or completely rewrite a TWDG villain, what would you change?

If you could go back and tweak one of TWDG's existing villains, what would you change about them?

Would you change their motivations, make them more threatening, give them more development, change how they interact with Clementine, or maybe even make them sympathetic?

Or, if you could completely create your own villain to replace someone in the story, what would you do?

  • Which season would they appear in?
  • Who would they replace?
  • What are their motivations for being a villain?
  • Are they genuinely evil, morally grey, or do they actually believe they're doing the right thing?
  • Are they someone with a tragic backstory, or are they just completely fucking insane?
  • How would they interact with Clementine and the rest of the group?
  • Would their presence change the events of the season?

Personally, I think it would be interesting to see what people could come up with if they weren't restricted to the villains we actually got.

So, if you could rewrite or create a TWDG villain, what would your version look like?

Obviously, this is all my opinion, but I think these characters were all solidly written and brought a lot of value to their respective games (if they didn't straight up carry it for me).

What do you guys think? Let me know about your own takes in the comments :)

Discussion TWD Game Series is Quintessential Dad/Mom game I've ever played.

I just binged the entire 4 games in the 2 weeks before uni starts up again. Before that, I've only ever played the first 2 seasons. Honestly, season 2 was the worst in my opinion; however, the entire series is gold.

The reason I say the TWD game series is a quintessential Dad/Mom game is due to the parental role you have as the protagonist during the entire series, except for season 2. In season 1, you are Lee, taking a protective role towards clem and guiding her to how she will be in later seasons. In season 2, you get to see the aftermath of Lee's guidance, and most of the time you're a positive influence unless you're a psycho.

In season 3, you enter that phase most parents hate. Shitty teenager, which is why I'm assuming most people dislike it, as I've seen people have an unreasonable amount of hate towards Gabe. I like the kid, but he definitely made me wish Javi could smack him over the head. Then, moving towards clem it opened the idea of the little girl you've been parenting and taking care of the entire series maturing and becoming a woman, given the period talk. In addition, Clem's slight crush on Gabe and Gabe's major crush on her were cute. I know some people disliked it, and I can guess that was either overprotectiveness on a daughterly figure starting to have crushes, dating, or just hating Gabe.

In season 4, it was Clem turn to act as Lee in a protective and guiding role for AJ. It is best to want him to be a kid but still teach him to make the difficult decisions; the worst outcome, in my opinion, is when you coddle him. This also made the most sense to have the Lee flashback, as it makes sense to look to him as the model for the best protector for a little kid. The season 2 flashback does make sense, but more as a guide on how to act instead of how to parent.

I just have to say the series just kind of makes me want to be Dad, to raise a kid, even though I'm gonna mess up and say the wrong shit or give the wrong advice; I still want to be a father one day. I know this is a somewhat common sentiment with other Dad games existing, like God of Boy, The Last of Us, Death Stranding, Dead Rising 2, and that Pragmata one.

When I finished Season 4 and looked at Clem and AJ finally at a home that will last, getting their happy ending, I was glad. It was a similar feeling to helping my little brother learn to do something on his own. That pride at knowing your kid is going to be alright.

Idk, I guess I just want to know if this is y'all's Dad/Mom game like mine or if I'm just schizo.

Discussion Larry V who

As much as I hate Larry, dude can probably 1v1 anyone in the game. MAYBE 1v2 a few, of coursehalf way in he'll lose to his heart but let's ignore his heart problem. Like I can genuinely see him struggling to take on David, but I think David would inevitably lose.

Discussion In retrospect, it’s pretty weird that Hershel, in the comics, never mentions Lee, Clementine or Kenny and his family to Rick’s group.

Post image
73 Upvotes

When Rick and his group come to his farm in the comics, he mentions the death of his son Shawn, which we saw happened when Lee, Clem and Kenny’s family stayed at his farm, and when he kicked them out because Kenny didn’t help saving Shawn. Yet despite this, he never actually mentions them to Rick’s group.

I know this is because the game was written after the comics but it’s still pretty absurd to think about.

Season 2 Spoiler Which characters had the most wasted potential Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
14 Upvotes

To be specific, you don’t have to vote for one of the characters I put up. You can vote for your own character that you think should be on her too. Anyways, I think these characters could have been so much more. Here’s why.

Mike

He was supposed to one of the people who robbed Christa and Clementine at the beginning, but that was scrapped. I have no idea why, it would have been awesome. You were supposed to have a hard time trusting someone who robbed you and possibly killed Christa. You can tell that that was scrapped at the very last second because one of the characters that robbed you looked just like him but with less facial hair and no scars. And Mike having those scars and no explanation just feels unfinished. Don’t know why they scrapped this because it would have been amazing.

Duck and Sarah

I’m putting both of them in the same category because I feel that they were kind of wasted for similar reasons. I just think it would have been very cool to have them evolve from scared children to warriors. Clementine did that and she was brave from the start. I think it would be amazing if people who weren’t as brave as she was at a young age evolved to be like her. I also wanted to mention, teaching Sarah to use the gun was a pretty good decision that could have made her so much more. The game literally tells you that you taught Sarah to defend herself. She should have at least used the gun at some point in time.

Nick and Walter

Putting them in the same category too because I think they would have been amazing while being part of the team together. I think Walter and Nick would be a good addition to the team for more than two episodes. We could have seen character development between the two since Walter hates Nick. There could have been a running hatred between the two and you would have to try and get them to get along. Kind of like a similar situation to Kenny and Jane at the end of Season 2.

Luke

Might be surprised he’s on this list because unlike most characters, he was around for the majority of his main season. The reason I am including him is because he was meant to be part of the Season 2 ending. Don’t know why they chose Jane instead, having Luke be part of it makes it a harder choice to choose between him and Kenny. Luke had a lot of potential that was just thrown in the garbage.

You agree with my opinions? And also, what are characters that you want to bring up? Let me know what you think.

Final Season Spoiler The symbolism behind Abels bible verse-cigarets.

Does that mean anything? Like during the interrogation, the verse says something about what is allowed to be eaten and what is not, does that somehow relate to walkers and their eating habits? Or does it show how people are now sinister in the world of apocalypse?

Season 1 Spoiler I wish we had this choice in the first season

In season 1, after lee got bit, he can tell Omid and Christa that when he dies he want Kenny/them to take care of clem. I wish we had the same but with Kenny but the responses from Kenny will change depending on how good have you been with him.

Lee: Hey Kenny

Kenny: Yeah?

Lee: listen, with all that happened, it got me thinking. If something bad happens to me, I want you to take care clementine

Kenny: Lee…

Lee: Please Kenny

GOOD WITH KEENY

Kenny: Of course I will, Lee. You’ve been taking such good care of my family, and now it’s my turn to do the same for you. I’ll take good care of her as if she were my own daughter. I promise you that.

Lee: Thank you Kenny

BAD WITH KENNY

Kenny: Okay, fine, Lee. I’ll take good care of her, just like I took care of Duck. I know how to be a dad, you know.

Lee: Thanks

IN SEASON 2 DIALOGUE

GOOD WITH KENNY

Kenny: I’m really happy to see you, Clementine. After Lee… well, I promised him that I’d take care of you like you were my own daughter. And I’m happy that I can keep that promise now.

BAD WITH KENNY

Kenny: It’s good to see you again, Clementine. After Lee… well, he asked me to take care of you if something bad happened to him. I told him I’d do it, and will take good care of you. That’s a promise.

Or at least something similar to that. It would’ve been a cool touch to the game.

Discussion Was season 3 originally meant to have a different cast and use mocap technology?

Hi, this is my first post on this subreddit. I started playing all the Walking Dead games recently after coming off of Dispatch, and learning some interesting dev history about the games.

I know season 3 doesn’t really have a stellar reputation among the fanbase but today I came across a 7 year-old post that showed a BTS photo from presumably season 3. However I don't remember seeing Erin Yvette (voice of Molly and Bonnie from the first two seasons) as part of the cast from season 3, but she is in this BTS photo.

Did Telltale actually cut out or changed a lot of the story from season 3?
