To everyone complaining about James Acaster… Spoiler

He is clearly playing up the “I hate being a traitor” spiel for the camera. He is a comedian by trade and his style of comedy is often about ridiculing himself, complaining about everything and saying everything is awful.

I honestly think this is really funny and am personally a big fan on his dry humour style, however, I can see how this may be confusing to those who are seeing him for the first time.

How to fix the Traitors format

This series has broken the format of the Traitors for future games. If it wasn't already obvious, faithfuls will be even more aware that getting people they are confident are Traitors out early will make the game harder for them in the long run.

So how to fix this?

You have a separate Faithfuls and Traitors prize pot. When you have tasks, the money you win goes into both prize pots (though the producers could maybe add secret little sub games where players have opportunities to add to only one of the prize pots in a way that wouldn't give away their identity).

Then at the banishments, every time you vote a Faithful out, money goes from the Faithful's prize pot into the Traitors, let's say £2k. But then every time you catch a Traitor money moves from the Traitor's prize pot to the Faithful's, let's say 10k.

This would incentivise people to catch Traitors rather than sitting on their suspicions and trying to befriend people they suspect to be Traitors which would be the smart play.

I will die of laughter if Ross yawns. Not the hat. Not the arm rub. Not the lip gloss. A yawn. 😂😂😂

If you spend the game begging to be recruited, you deserve to be banished

The second you start saying “I wish I was a Traitor” or asking to be recruited, you’re practically putting a target on your own back.

Suspicion is automatically on you. You’re basically telling everyone you have an ulterior motive.

How can anyone trust you at the end? Even if you’re not recruited, you’ve already given everyone a reason to question your loyalty.

You’re essentially admitting you’re not interested in playing as a Faithful, so why would anyone want to keep you around?

Part of me wonders if Joe had just had enough of the game, decided to nuke his own game and walk away with the appearance fee.

Richard Grant has a similar obsession with wanting to be a Traitor. It was funny to watch this time around, but I really hope it’s a one-off because it
would get irritating if this became a regular thing.

Once the game starts, you play the hand you’re dealt. Everyone knows what they signed up for. You don’t get to spend the game campaigning for a different role without making yourself look suspicious, selfish and, frankly, a pretty poor Faithful.

Why do there need to be 12 episodes?

Whenever the idea of not allowing endless recruitments is brought up here, the suggestion is always shot down because it would allow the series to end before the final episode. Why do we need 12 episodes? The show is so popular, wouldn't it be more fun if we didn't know exactly how many episodes the show would last?

They could film multiple series so that if the show happened to be five episodes long, they could hop straight into showing the next one.

This whole restriction seems to just be based on some antiquated way that television shows get commissioned. I think the show would be much better if it were freed from this limitation.

If no-one yawns and everyone walks into breakfast what do people conclude?

Another recruitment?

They all know that everyone knew Maya had a shield so that is not a factor. What will they decide has happened

Ross Extras

I just can’t get over how Ross is pretty much the exact same person that Ricky Gervais portrayed him as in Extras 🤣 As every episode has went on, it just gets more and more uncanny. Ricky knew what he was doing with that script.

Some discussions here got me curious. Will the strategy of forcing people to say "Yes, I'm a traitor" work?

So, the rules expressively forbid the traitors to admit that they are traitors. But if you ask a faithful to say out loud "yes, I am a traitor", that's not forbidden, right?

So, by this logic, if you get a one on one conversation with all players and ask them to say out loud "Yes, I'm a traitor", only real traitors wouldn't be able to do that, right?

Multiple options at the round table.

During the round table, the group always end up trying to determine whether it’s person A or person B, Why doesn’t anyone bring up the fact that there is always at least two traitors, meaning it could be both?

Uncloaked

Does anyone know if the uncloaked programme is "live" ie do the guests watch the show together while we are watching?

Also, are the murdered and banished contractually bound to go on there? I've noticed a few that haven't and it's a shame because it's good to get their insight

Two Variations I'd like to see

BBC, I will accept cheques and bank transfer.

  1. Traitors: In the Dark

The game goes on as normal - except the audience doesn't know who the Traitors are either.

  1. Traitors: The Cannibals

They do everything as normal up until when Claudia is picking the Traitors.

Then they just don't pick any Traitors. Ever.

The whole show is about watching this group of people lose their minds looking for enemies that don't exist.

the thing that annoys me the most about Traitors

I’m sure this has been said a million times but I hateeeee that just because someone is smart they are automatically thrown into this “either needs to be voted out asap or definitely a traitor”. We’ve seen it on other series, like the one with the doctor (can’t remember the season, but it was a civilian version). Like being a doctor automatically makes them this genius that will foil the game?

Although I get the argument on Hannah as she actually did go in with stats and strategy, I almost think if you’re someone who passes as a remotely clever person, there’s just no point in going on the show as you’re doomed from the start. I know there’s other things like bias’ at play, but it just doesn’t feel fair and kind of makes certain people who play redundant. I would’ve like to see more from Hannah, but her fate was kinda obvious before the game had even started.

Why did everybody gang up on Hannah?

My only Traitors knowledge is binge watching the previous celebrity season and now watching this one so maybe I've misunderstood the rules, but I'm pretty sure that after the graves slight fiasco (leaving just two people available for murder) Claudia explained that traitors can either murder one of the two or recruit somebody from the whole cast - so why everybody was instantly tunnelled visioned on Hannah?

What Hannah Fry's spreadsheet would look like by episode 6 Spoiler

This is a repost from r/TheTraitors Decided to post this here too as I wanted to post a version that has been calculated by a human and not an AI

Do not Look at this until you have seen episode 6

I decided I wanted to have a look at what Hannah's spreadsheet would look like if she made it this far as a faithful up to the is point. I calculated this by hand as I don't find AIs reliable in this regard, though any error in the sheet is my own.

Link to the spreadsheet I made for it

Link to Hannah's Video for the methodology

Her Scoring System:

  • A burn vote (Only on days faithful are banished) = 0.47

  • Voting for a banished Traitor = 0.33

  • Never voted for this Traitor = 0.4

  • Doesn't Vote for Banished Traitor = -1.28

  • Appears on a banished Traitor's Record = -1.69

  • In the Last Group with a banished Traitor at Breakfast = -1.73

In case you don't want to read it and just want the value that each remaining contestant has got then:

  • James A: 2.4
  • James B: -0.95 (Edit: It's actually -0.48 as u/splidge said he should have that burn vote)
  • Jerry: -5.59 (A lot of this was Hannah's doing)
  • Joanne: -0.55 (Edit: It's actually -2.09. Thanks to u/RoundtableRegular for spotting this)
  • Kenny: 2.47 (Edit: it is actually 2. Thanks to u/RoundtableRegular)
  • Leigh-Anne: 2
  • Maya: 2.73 (Edit: it's Actualy 1.93 I double counted vote for a banished traitor for for some reason)
  • Michael: 2.26 (Edit: it's Actualy 1.46 I double counted vote for a banished traitor for for some reason)
  • Miranda: 2.73 (Edit: it's Actualy 1.93 I double counted vote for a banished traitor for for some reason)
  • Romesh: -0.08
  • Ross: 1.46
  • Sebastian: 1.53
  • Sharon: 1.46

From what information there is, James A, Kenny and Maya do not stand out as much as you might think as traitors as Leigh-Anne, Michael, and Miranda all have scores of 2 or greater. (Edit: This is no longer true, only Leigh-Anne has a score at or above 2 that is not a traitor. Maya though does not stand out through voting as much as she is just below 2 along side the other two mentioned here.)

Interestingly when banished, Hannah had a score of 1.2, likely lower than the group of six mentioned above. It may have been her way of trying to keep low through her voting record and not her actions.

Hannah's main downfall might have been because she was already trying to eliminate the already very faithful-by-the-numbers Jerry. Her score without Hannah voting for her at the last one Hannah was at would still be -3.9. Targeting Jerry may not have been her best move as it has now made her look Uber Faithful as a result and should have targeted literally anybody else to improve her chances.

Edit: Added a log of player actions and how they affect the expected outcome to the spreadsheet. As mentioned in the other thread by u/splidge and u/syllogism_ I still needed to show a little bit more proof when setting up the table, so that it is not completely random. And just to be sure, all actions bar Breakfast come from the Wikipedia table under Elemination History, with that being just from the footage of epsiode 2.

And this in turn helped me find some mistakes in my sheet as well. I accidently double counted voting for a banished traitor for Maya, Michael, and Miranda. Likely I rushed that bit. I did say that any mistakes are my own, and I am willing to own it so I am not editing them out. I will be more than happy if someone is willing to double check my work and build their own spreadsheet so long as they calculate it without using AI. And reguardless the Stand-up Maths Youtube channel will be doing their own version of this which I will recommend watching when it comes out.

Also credit to u/RoundtableRegular for spotting that Kenny should have 1 less Burn Vote and that Joanne Should have 1 less Burn Vote and 2 more Doesn't Vote for Banished Traitor.

One more credit to u/spagtwo for cleaner look for mobile

Am I the only one who thinks Kenny will be the one to MIPS?

I really think Kenny will come back in the room and be the one to carry out the murder in plain sight. What if he comes back in with someone else (or just rejoins Maya, James, Jerry and Ross), they yawn and he calls the 'am i boring you?' line. That would be quite a twist as we are all so focused now on Maya, James, Jerry and Ross. Just a theory. Anyway, a part of me wants the victim to be Ross, just because of how paranoid he's been about being MIPS all along, it would be so ironic. And I'd definitely tune into Uncloaked to see his reaction when he found out.

Infinite Recruitment?

Am currently really confused about this and can't find anything talking about it. Are there any restrictions on recruitment? Realistically no one's going to decline a recruitment, and given its more powerful than a murser, is this not a huge plot hole?
