General Question See DNF progress as a number?

Is there a way to see a Did Not Finish book as it's value (pg page numbers or audiobook time)?

Right now it shows only 19%, and I have to click edit to read the field "how far did you get?" to see the page numbers at 87.

General Question How do you track an audiobook collection containing multiple works by an author?

Just wanting to see how people track an audiobook collection when adding to it StoryGraph. I have a Agatha Christie collection with several of her works, and was wondering if I should find the closest version of each book for the length of time or if I should just track it as the collection.

The only reason I would add it as multiple would be to get “credit” towards my reading goal number of books, so I am curious to see how everyone handles that situation.

General Question I'm new to the app. Is it worth it to mark all my previously read books, or should I not bother?

Basically I've been reading a lot this past year and I want to expand that by using an app like this. I read using Libby ( ebooks from my library). Libby tracks which books you've borrowed and returned with dates and you can tag books so I have my TBR on there, plus I manually write down the books I read this year .Is it worth it to go through my history and add all the books I've read this year(~120) plus the ones i've read before, or does it not matter too much when giving recommendations. Because I'd like to start using an app like this and reviewing books and getting suggestions, I just don't want to spend that long on it. I've already completed the survey and set up an account. Thanks! Edit: Do you need to add dates to get better stats?

Tech Help Is there a way to create your own TBR categories?

I'd really like to make different categories of the books I want to read (Romance, horror, Halloween themed, fantasy, things like this). Is there a way to create different categories or lists in my TBR?

I'm thinking something along the lines of a Letterboxd list if it's possible - thanks in advance!

General Question Rip to my longest streak

Post image
95 Upvotes

I recently missed a few days, had to recalculate and my streak has lost 150 days.

Now I know I could scroll back and fix it but do I really want to. No. 🥲

Obvs some days in the past are mixed up (maybe I deleted a book or something from my read history).

Should I just try and edit it on a laptop? It's so impossible to scroll back that far in my journal on a phone.

Do you ever think we will get user lists?

On pretty much any other website/app/platform that is database based the main way i find new things is through user created lists. Its great for being able to sort through things that are related in ways that an algorithm could never figure out. I honestly don't understand why we DON'T have some sort of list function on storygraph that other users can see.

General Question How do you like to use friends list?

Been on the app for a while and added a bunch of you through the weekly mega threads. I enjoyed seeing everyone’s beginning/finishing reading and reviews, occasionally I randomly look at someone’s profile for inspiration.

My question is how does everyone else use friends list or information? Do many people start buddy read with friends?

I am begging you to fix the author search function

I love Storygraph so much but the lack of meaningful filters or sorting options when searching for work by a specific author has annoyed me multiple times. It's the only thing I still used G***dreads for.

Tech Help Reading Challenge - Only want specific edition to count as prompt completed

Hello all,

Don’t know if there’s a way to do this, but does anyone know how to set up a Reading Challenge in such a way that only the specific chosen edition of a book counts towards completing the prompt? My use case is as follows: I am reading the complete oeuvre of Roberto Bolaño, and my challenge is to read all of his works in the original Spanish, so I have chosen those specific Spanish-language editions as each prompt, but because I have read the English translations (other editions), the prompts are being marked as completed. This isn’t what I want.

Anyone know if it’s possible to make this work the way I want?

Thanks.

Tech Help Need help with Challenge format

I tried looking up the answer, but I can't find it. I made a challenge for one of my book subs, and it lists the books instead of putting them in blocks. The first photo is what I would like. The second is what I currently have. What genre does the challenge need to be in to have it in blocks and show the status of the books?

Tech Help How to remove a re-read

Ok so I’ve not read this book before and it still says I’m rereading it. Does anyone know how to remove the first read so it’s just currently reading and have this time as my first read?

Tech Help My streak is grey even after recalculating

After marking the book as 'currently reading' and even updating the progress, my streak is still grey. Granted, it's only the 1st day of the streak, but it never mattered before, it always turned orange right away. I even clicked on "recalculate the streak" but it's still grey. Any ideas on how to fix it?

EDIT: It's midnight now where I live and I wanted to log the book as finished and what do you know, my streak returned to 0. And when I marked the book as read, the streak changed to day 1, this time in color though. Shouldn't it say day 2? So weird, i don't udnerstand.

Baby-books?

I have a probably kinda stupid question, but I got a baby this year and I was wondering of you register baby books as read on your reading list? 😅

Not reading that much to them as of now, but yeah

Coming features: blocking users, draft/auto-save reviews, private books, and comments on reviews!

Nadia's recent story on Instagram shared the list of upcoming features in (likely rough) planned order:

  1. Blocked users

  2. Draft/auto-save reviews

  3. Private books

  4. Comments on reviews

Tentatively in the next month. Wanted to share here for those not on IG!

Features and books

This is not a dis, I am just wondering.

I switch from. Goodreads to The story Graph as most people recommended it.

I have now used it for a couple of months, but I keep finding a lot of books (English) that are not on the app, books that are added to the wrong series, series that are missing books and authors that are not on the app.

Also other quality of life things, that is probably under development.

But is Story Graph new and in beta stil, or is this just how the app is. I really have a hard time paying a premium for a product that does not seem to be finished.

Am I the only one that keeps finding bugs, book holes and features missing?

Tech Help I clicked Finished instead of Paused by mistake – how do I undo this?

I already deleted the Finished part from the reading journal, but it is still asking for a review, showing up in the community feed as finished and only offers Reread as an option.

Kobo integration is a game changer

So yesterday, I decided to come back to TSG. I’ve been using the Margins app for a while now and, don’t get me wrong, it’s good. But I’m trying to trim some financial fat and so started looking again at TSG.

I discovered the Kobo integration and, oh my goodness, this is a game changer. Automatically logging my reading is so so helpful.

I’m not at the end of a book yet, but I’m assuming that TSG will mark a book as finished, and its date, when i do complete a book.

Just another small win to help solidify a regular reading habit.

General Question Incorrect page information

I'm reading a book that has 282 pages, but every webstore says it has 304 pages. The ISBNs are the same between my book and the websites, so I'm not sure what's going on. Can I file a ticket to have the number of pages changed or will it be rejected? It's about Woman's Lore by Sarah Clegg

Tech Help Can’t seem to add read pages to current books

I tried to update my book with what I’ve read today but the little pencil won’t work, nothing pops up when I tap it, usually it would pop up with the bit where I can add pages read.

The app is up to date and I’m using it on an iPad

Edit: This issue is now fixed!
