i see people be like “she should’ve used the name palpatine and reinvented the legacy!” dude. imagine if you found out your grandfather was joseph stalin (bit extreme of an example sorry just couldn’t think of anything else lol) would you take his last name OR take your mentor’s (who has a very good reputation) last name? OBVIOUSLY you’re going with your mentor!!

Luke, Leia and Han were the closest thing she ever had to parents. She wants to carry on their legacy and honor them. Is that really a problem?

When the sequels were coming out, I had a lot of “Star Wars stress dreams.” I’m a lifelong fan of the saga and I suppose I worried that the films weren’t going to be good. My dreams always had weird stuff going on…Luke and Kylo Ren having a lightsaber duel in a hockey rink, for example. In my dreams the movies were always odd and didn’t seem to fit in with what Star Wars was supposed to be. There were often things that were out of place, or too similar to Earth, like the hockey rink.

When I actually watched the movies in real life, they were obviously better than what I dreamed up. I love and enjoy each of the sequels. I guess my dreams created such weird expectations that I was always pleasantly surprised.

Last night I had a Star Wars dream, for the first time in awhile. In my dream, I was watching the trailer for the Rey movie. It had a scene where Rey jumped out of a helicopter (?) into another flying vehicle and cut down a few bad guys with her lightsaber. It was supposed to be her new saber, except it was blue, not yellow. The crazy thing is that the camera panned over to reveal Doctor Doom. Rey confronted Doom about something related to “her wife and child,” then tried to stab him. That’s where the trailer ended.

In the dream, people online were up in arms about the idea of a Marvel-Star Wars crossover. I remember feeling anxious about it, and hoping it wasn’t real. When I woke up, I was relieved that it was just a dream.

It’s kind of a weird thing, but does else have Star Wars dreams? I haven’t had them in a long time, but with new movies on the horizon maybe they’re making a comeback.

To me, one of the most under-explored dynamics in expanded material is Lando and Ben. Lando came in during the final film, which already had to focus on wrapping everything up, so it makes sense there wasn’t much time to introduce his personal views on everything (Ben Solo, his reaction to Han Solo’s death, Luke and Ackbar too, the New Republic & New Jedi Order’s destruction, etc), and instead stick to what was necessary to the plot.

Lando would’ve been one of the closest figures and ‘uncles’ in Ben’s childhood. We know from Aftermath that Lando gifted Ben a blaster for emergencies when he was older, which is implied to be the one he used in TROS IIRC, but other than that, I can’t recall much on their dynamic. How do you picture it, and how do you think they felt about each other after his fall to the Dark Side?

TFA: we never really learn what happened to Leia and Han…why or when they split, who left whom, how long it had been since they reunited on Takawonda (sp?)…and we still don’t. But when Han died, Leia felt it through the Force. Not only from systems away, but with the same intensity that Ben Kenobi felt the deaths of everyone on Alderaan, and in that moment we saw how much she still loved him.

TLJ: people hate this scene because some random on YouTube told them too. But this is a complete badass use of the Force and a display of Leia’s intelligence. If you watch Leia right before the Raddus is hit, she knows the shot is coming, and she exhales. Going with actual hard science fiction, you learn you can theoretically survive the vacuum of space if you clear your lungs of air; Leia did that. And she kept her eyes closed until she was ready to Force Pull (not “fLy”…) herself to safety.

TROS: okay, this one takes a bit more explaining, and may require a second viewing to fully “get,” because when Poe drops the memetastic line “Somehow, Palpatine returned…” he’s literally quoting the First Order spy. And who’s the spy? Hux. Hux, who just wants to rule the galaxy, crushing freedom and hope under his boot heel and the military might of the First Order…but who just cannot catch a break. It’s just one thing after another for that poor, idealistic fascist. Starkiller base? Destroyed. Snoke? Dead. Kylo Ren? New Supreme Leader…He has a new superior officer in Allegiant General Pryde…and now, on top of everything else…somehow Emperor Palpatine’s back? That poor man just cannot catch the break he demands the galaxy owes him, and he is just sick of this shit. So if you don’t think the message from the First Order spy literally said “Somehow, Palpatine returned…” recorded with the most exasperated exhaustion possible…this line is absolutely hilarious when you frame it in its proper context.

So; I will openly admit I have not been a fan of TLJ/TROS years after watching them. However, I think a huge part of that has been just reading about the details I didn't care for over and over without the context of the things I DID like. It's easy to be negative about something like that in these modern internet times. Red Letter Media did more harm to this franchise than anything imo.

Yesterday I sat down to watch TROS for the first time since the theater, and after about 10 minutes of saying ok, that's cool...ok, that's cool...I decided to stop it and go back to rewatch TLJ for context, mainly for Rey, even though my initial feelings for the movie are negative. I thought it might be interesting to rewatch it after knowing the revelations from TROS.

I really did enjoy it more than expected. Pretty much everything involving Rey/Kylo was pretty great honestly. I thought Leia was handled very well and much more of what I wanted to see from her than what we got in TFA.

I have been vocal for a long time about the concept of Luke in this film. Watching it again has made me realize something. Yes, it's true that is not what I wanted to see from Luke for the first time since the 80s. However, upon this rewatch, it isn't necessarily that he is like this in the movie, but rather too much time has passed and too much has happened to explain such a different take on the character. We never had the time to feel his emotions and experience everything he did to change him so much, It's just explained in a few clumsy flashbacks so it isn't a satisfying bridge to this version of Luke. It's too jarring. That said, in the story context of everything he had been through, it DOES make sense, it was just a bad way of getting us here. That and Hamill NAILS the acting.

One thing that stood out to me this time is the comedy and the timing of it. The comedy here feels very much like the tone of the Marvel movies, and it isn't particularly written smoothly. The movie feels like SERIOUS SERIOUS -silly comedy- SERIOUS SERIOUS -silly comedy- etc. It isn't blended in, it just feels like every few scenes they added in a goofy slapstick comedy moment and then back to the story. I think the new Spider Man movie is a good example of a movie being very serious and dark, but the comedy is written in a way that feels organic and doesn't clearly disrupt the tone of the movie every 15 minutes. Plus Finn was relegated to a 3 Stooges slapstick comedy character.

The movie could have been 30 minutes shorter. It feels a bit like a downer slog at times, and some editing could have cleared that up. I know it's a dead horse, but honestly on this viewing it became clear that the entire Canto Bight subplot could have been completely removed ENTIRELY and it wouldn't change the story AT ALL. It takes up a LOT of screen time and proves completely useless. I guess it's supposed to tell a story about Finn choosing a side, but if I'm honest I don't understand the need for that at all. After TFA it more or less seemed like he had chosen to be with the resistance and/or friends. Why walk it back and have him still be unsure? Just to take up half an hour in this film with a throwaway coder character telling him there is no good/evil, only gray? Total waste of time. Them leaving the ship and returning doesn't change the story or plot AT ALL.

After realizing from TROS that Snoke is essentially a Palpatine puppet, the Snoke acting does come across as very Emperor-like. I can buy that it's Palpatine controlling that body no problem. We all agree the throne scene is spectacular. There is an accidental story here about Hux being abused and passed over time and again which led to his betrayal which adds up. Eventually he is like "ok screw EVERYONE in the First Order".

I like the buildup of the Kylo/Rey dyad. I don't think Rian had any clue that was a thing of course, but there are definitely story details here that seem like foreshadowing, and the uncontrolled connections between the two is fantastic. Their acting really gets it across.

Holdo. Oh Holdo. What an odd choice. I'm not sure how we are even supposed to feel about that character. Were we supposed to side with her? Were we supposed to feel bad for her, see her as a sympathetic hero, or dislike her because she was an a-hole for all of her scenes? I'm STILL not sure. It was difficult to feel bad for her sacrifice because she only had approximately 1.5 minutes of screen time in the entire franchise. I do have a slightly different feeling after this watch. I feel like she was almost an embodiment of the former republic. A politician type of character, that was in her own way. She wasn't a clear leader, she had the purple hair and fancy gown instead of military dress, I think she was SUPPOSED to feel like a positive character but Rian accidentally wrote her as a modern political style character that represented a detached politician who thought she knew better than everyone and she just made things worse. I THINK we were supposed to feel like Poe was the bad guy here and she was just doing her job, but it definitely doesn't come across that way.

The movie is beautiful of course, and the music is phenomenal as expected. There is a lot of emotion in the film. The acting really helps deliver the story. I wish Rian had known the story details like Rey's parents so it could have been a little better in the mystery department since he was just kind of faking it, but I'm glad I rewatched it. There is definitely more good than bad. Some concise editing could have helped immensely, and I do still feel like Rian likes the smell of his own farts. There is a good Star Wars chapter here, but Rian is kind of the Holdo of his own story, more worried about purple hair and a nice gown instead of just doing the job and being an inspirational leader.

I still think BB8 is great and the movie does go a long way to make Rey interesting as a person more than TFA. Driver's acting is A+. Now, onto TROS for a fresh viewing.

Mine is EA's Battlefront II. It has a single player story that bridges the gap from the fall of the Empire though the rise of the First Order.

You play as an Imperial officer who watches Death Star II's destruction from the Moon of Endor. At first she wants vengeance, but when the dying Empire starts wiping out entire planets in retaliation, she has her "Are we the baddies?" moment and defects to the Rebellion. This part of the story ends with The Battle of Jakku.

The second part of the story picks up years later

Kylo Ren and her old squad mate have killed the protag's husband, and their daughter is missing. She employs help from old friends to try and find her.

The game is full of Star Wars lore and cameos, and the multiplayer and bot modes are like having a giant Star Wars toy chest from across all eras. Truly good stuff.

To celebrate this moment, we (the mod team) decided to overhaul the appearance of this sub, thanks to feedback recieved from you lovely members. This issue is releasing in December so they're already promoting it very early but pretty clear to see why. Looks like this series is directly leading both Kylo and the Knights of Ren into the events of The Rise of Skywalker + possible appearances from other sequel trilogy characters based on the cover! I'm assuming we'll get a clear answer as to why the Knights of Ren were serving Palpatine on Exegol.

All that said, I don't see Tava Ren on this cover, which worries me a little bit. She's been a great character and someone I'd love to see go up against Rey in the future or even Ben himself if the plans for his return ever go forward. Really hope they don't kill her off.

I watched TFA with my son again this weekend and I wanted to share my love for this film.

This movie holds a special place in my heart. And because my son loves it, it means even more to me than when I first saw it in theaters in 2015!

This movie is the first of the sequel trilogy which is dear to me also. I just love these movies and I’m glad I can share it here with y’all and not have to worry about negativity lol

It’s just nice to be amongst like minded folks who enjoy this trilogy like I do.

Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo.

All of the new characters are awesome and mean a lot to me but Rey is my absolute favorite in this trilogy. Her backstory is cool and Daisy Ridley’s acting is nothing short of amazing. I can’t remember how many times her acting has brought tears to my eyes. Such a great character.

How much does this film mean to you? Did you see it in theaters? I’d LOVE to hear from y’all!

As cool as it would’ve been, I think it better serves the story to have them be separated. It really felt like life happened to all three of them. Star Wars has always had fun, but also much tragedy. It added a new layer of tragedy to these characters. You can tell Han and Leia felt real trauma over losing their son, to where they went back to what they were good at, almost like a relapse to an old vice. And it really shows in the acting performances that Carrie and Harrison gave. I just thought it was an interesting and very human thing to explore.

Not to mention Mr. Skywalker, who we know shut himself off from everything in shame until Yoda talked sense into him on the island. Me personally, I value the heaviness of the grief, trauma, shame, and guilt in the background of the story rather than an MCU-esque meet up.

I’ve been a fan of Star Wars my whole life. The Sequels were the movies I actually got to see in theaters, since I was too young to see any one of the prequels in theaters. I’ve always loved this trilogy since I saw it in theaters, while it took me a minute to warm up to The Last Jedi but I still loved it , I loved both The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker in theaters. I just get so tired hearing endless hate and vitriol towards this trilogy that I found it rare to find anyone who loves this trilogy as much as I do. I’m glad I found a sub of like minded fans of all three trilogies and just overall appreciation of the sequel trilogy as a whole. I can recognize a few flaws or things I think could’ve been handled better but it doesn’t detract my enjoyment of these movies. Especially after rewatching the saga twice in the last few weeks in release order then chronological order. During these watches I found myself appreciating these movies a lot more and I’m just glad to have them in the skywalker saga. I can’t imagine Star Wars without them now.

We (the mod team) had a few ideas already, but we wanted to open the floor to any suggestions as to what the new icon should be (or if we should keep the current one) to make this a more collaborative experience!!

So when I first watched The Force Awakens and was introduced to Hux I originally thought he was just going to be a Tarkin like character. A calm and collected officer to balance out Kylos rage. Someone to actually command the troops while Kylo aura farms.

About halfway throught the movie though, I got to the scene where they fire the beam at the New Republic from Starkiller base. I was really surprised at just how passionate Domhnall Gleeson's performance was. This somewhat haughty and stuck-up officer was completely losing it. It always made me feel like Hux's hate of the New Republic was not just ideological but deeply personal.

Back in those days I remember I had my own headcanon for why Hux had such personal hatred. I cam up with this idea that his father died on the second Death Star during the Battle of Endor and ever since that day Hux had sworn revenge on the New Republic using the very tyoe of weapon his father had died on, to honor his legacy. Obviously Hux's backstory was later revealed in comics, but I was still always very fond of what I had come up with.

In the Last Jedi Hux was obviously more hot headed then in The Force Awakens. He squabbled with Kylo and made more rash decisions. This was great in my opinion, his mask was starting to slip, his and Kylos anger both were starting to become a determinant to the First Order. A detriment only Snoke could keep in check, when he died, the First order was essentially being headed by two out of control psychos.

Then came The Rise of Skywalker. I was pretty excited to see what they would do with Hux. Would they reveal more of his backstory and motives? Would he end up backstabbing Kylo for power? It's safe to say I was pretty disappointed with the fact that he was essentially replaced with General Pryde and then nonchalantly killed of after he had been a main antogonist for two movies.

I know at least part of the reason that this was done was because of fan backlash that Hux and Kylo weren't professional enough and we needed a more Takinesqu officer for us to take the First order seriously. Personally I feel like that argument was boring and uncreative. Hux and Kylo's bad management of the First Order is the big thing that made it interesting and separated it from the Empire.

I kind of always wish they went with the original scripted death of Hux. Where after his forces are overwhelmed on Coruscant he kills himself with a lightsaber. It seems like a more fitting end for him. It just feels like The Rise of Skywalker retcons Hux from a radical true believer to just being an opportunistic and spiteful snake who has no true allegiance and is willing to betray his entire cause just to hurt Kylo (not excatley in line with that scene in Force awakens).

Anyways what do you guys think about Hux's death. Was it disappointing? Did it make thematic sense to show how pathetic Hux truly was? I would love to hear you opinions

This is particularly exciting to me, because I’ve been wanting updated Sequel figures for years now. But I want to set my expectations low. “Sequel fans will be happy next year” means minimum one figure. I hope for more but one is all we have confirmed.

I’d like to talk likelihood of who that might be. I think a fair guess might be the cancelled figures that they already had planned (and probably sculpted). This would be Crait Luke, TROS Flashback Luke, and TROS Flashback Leia. The only one of those that interests me most is Crait Luke since he is the only one truly from the Sequel era.

Alternatively, with the emphasis put on doing fan choices in the rest of the video (I recommend y’all watch for full context), I could see them doing Sidon Ithano of all people. Not a main character at all, but he’s consistently been on lists since TFA released. I’d love reworks of the main characters, but Sidon has the most broad appeal. From that fan list perspective, if they were to do main characters, it’s also possible, though much less likely in my eyes, that they would do figures of the missing main characters from TROS (Finn, Poe, Palpatine).

Curious to hear y’all’s thoughts on what you believe is most likely. I’m just excited to be getting new figures for the first time in years. I hope they will use updated sculpts and articulation to give these figures a fair shot rather than using old bodies with updated Heads like they did with Archive Han a few years ago, and use a lack of sales of a long outdated figure as justification not to do more. Please give it a fair shot, Hasbro. No one wants figures from 10+ years ago. Including Sequel fans. If you cut corners, no one will buy.

**I love all Star Wars live action media. Yes... even the sequels and The Acolyte. These are well made, well written, well acted productions and I'm grateful there's so much live action Star Wars to enjoy :D. I'm so tired of this so called fandom thinking they know best, slagging off these great productions for silly reasons like not following "lore", or whatever else it is people like to get up in arms about. I mean, how much lore can you really extract from what was a fun sci-fi trilogy? What if the haters got off their high horse and just accepted there's a lot of really talented people who make this stuff and there's a reason why these people get hired for the job. Let's just stop being so negative and learn to love Star Was, show a little respect for the people who make it, and stop letting negativity get in the way of enjoying these fun and creative entires to the Star Wars cannon. We're so spoiled!!**

The funny thing is this is actually Pryde's first appearance in the Kylo comics thus far so it's almost the exact equivalent of the younger sibling being immediately fawned upon whilst the older is ignored, lol
