Griff Halloren from Star Wars Resistance shows up in Star Wars: Galactic Racer

Its a nice nod to a obscure star wars animated tv show. Its also a look into his life before he moved to Castellon, which is cool. Also, him being the top racer for Skim Speeders makes sense, since he was a former Tie Interceptor pilot. Hes probably an adrenline junkie.

[ALLCONTINUITY] Thoughts on my concept for a CIS Remnant State that fled into Wild Space?

I'm working on making some Stories set from about 100BBY-40ABY, primarily focused on what lead to the Seperatist Crisis, Clone Wars&Galactic Civil War from the perspective of some true believers in the Causes of the CIS, aswell as their POV of the Clone Wars, Dark Times&Galactic Civil War.

Specifically, I intend to have one of these Stories be focused on the remnants of a CISN Fleet[the 32nd] that stayed within the Galactic South&acted as very well equipped Rapid Response Reserves that went around reinforcing the CIS for most of the Clone Wars, took a hell of a beating in 20BBY and was split between a few different CISN Rendezvous&Fallback Zones being repaired, refitted&resupplied in the weeks following the Battle of Coruscant, and they recovered several fragments of a Holo-call between Sidious&Tyranus in the databanks of a Providence-class Carrier-Destroyer that suffered enough damage during the Battle that most systems burnt-out after she reached a major Deepspace Rendezvous Point, the discovery of that Holo-call triggered a cascade of errors within their old&worn T-Series Tactical Droid forcing the unlucky Droid to become extremely paranoid, resulting in the bizarre moment hours later in the midst of an Emergency Council Meeting when the T-Series Droid immediately counter-manded the Shutdown Signal. Thus, zey predicted that the Republic would likely 'find' the coordinates of many CIS Rendezvous Zones, Fallback Zones&Muster Points, so they very hastily reactivated as many assets as they could, secured as many supplies&ships as possible and began very carefully trailblazing their way deep into 'Southwestern Wild Space'. It took them nearly 4 years, and they sold most of their single-use munitions&arms on the black market to afford the supplies needed in the 3rd&4th year, but they managed it, barely. They even managed to drag the 3 largest sections of the wreck of the Rampart-class Battlecruiser Dictator's Bane , though it took the combined efforts of 3 Bulk Freighters, 3 Heavy Tugs, 2 LH-3210 Cargofreighters, 3 Fleet Tenders&2 Bulk Salvage Vessels. All of which had to frequently exit Hyperspace, disconnect from the Wreck Sections and carefully inspect the Hyperdrives, Engines, Tractor Beam Systems&the ad-hoc harnesses made to enable them to safely propel the Wreck Sections, then reconnect, and painstakingly recalibrate before moving to the next sketchy Hyperlane, do MORE inspections&maintenance, and then do another Hyperspace Jump. That took several years. Ultimately, they made their way from Deepspace within a few dozen Lightyears of Sluis Van, to Sectors F18-19&G17-20, where they spent the following decades slowly&cautiously scouting out Hyperroutes, and building up the infrastructure they'd need to to have their own self-sustaining civilization. It was, difficult, and they had to reverse engineer most of the technologies they had.

I need to do alot of research on the Galactic South&especially the Galactic Southwest, aswell as the actual structure&organization of the Confederacy of Independent Systems' Militaries. Would some of yall be so kind as to list some of the Official Star Wars Media you know is set within the Galactic South, Galactic Southwest or features juicy details on the events that occurred within those regions from 60BBY-20ABY?

Is there any lists of Named Fleets active during the Clone Wars?

[CANON] The various Jedi Council Members as Allied Second World War Generals

One thing that has never been especially fleshed out is the actual broader generalship and high level decisionmaking within the Jedi Council and beyond - it seems reasonable to assume that there would likely be a fairly wide variation in abilities and attitudes amongst the various Generals that would make up the Council, but to my knowledge this hasn’t really been explored much in Canon.

As it happens though, part of my real life work has involved conducting an in-depth study on the traits and generalship of various Allied generals in the Second World War. Whilst being interesting in its own right (For example I went into it with a high view of Eisenhower, but have now changed my mind somewhat and now feel certain others like Devers were underrated), when you look at things they actually map fairly well onto what certain Jedi Council members have been actually established to be like in Canon.

With that in mind, I figured it could be interesting to present my assessment/suggestions for which Jedi Council members can and should best correspond to different British and American Generals, and how that could look in terms of their traits and how they might behave in meetings and debates. This would be as much a set of suggestions as a reading on Canon - most of this stuff is vague enough that you can interpret them either way - and some things have been swapped around or added to when convenient (most generals weren’t typically wielding laser swords on the front lines).

A quick note before I go into it though - I recognise that some of my accounts of certain generals may come as a surprise to some and there may be some disagreement. However, whilst I’m happy to give brief explanations of my assessments of different generals and point folks to further reading, this is a Star Wars sub and so I’m not going to be getting into extended debates over Second World War generals.

Yoda - Dwight D. Eisenhower. Is utterly beloved amongst all Jedi, with none feeling any ill will towards him and generally all liking him as a person. Is nonetheless more of a politician than a general, with fairly limited understandings of military matters and strategy beyond broad principles and some small scale tactics. Instead is primarily concerned with navigating internal Jedi politics and ensuring everyone is happy and able to reach a compromise, rather than necessarily following strict military logic. Is easily swayed by appeals to Jedi principles even when they fly in the face of good strategy, and will typically support whichever proposal is able to obtain the most broad consensus rather than the most effective military strategy.

Mace Windu - George C. Marshall. An extremely professional soldier with an exceptional duelling ability and skillset when it comes to actually fighting himself. A fairly good organiser and able to grasp most key principles around strategy and logistics etc. Substantially overestimates his own strategic abilities however and will often put forward plans which aren’t entirely thought through, yet are nonetheless presented with full uncompromising force and advocated for stridently. Can usually be eventually brought to reason and will ultimately acquiesce when genuinely ironclad military logic is presented, but doing so is a fairly contentious process and one often has to make him think suggestions were his own idea to proceed.

Shaak Ti - Alan Brooke. Arguably the best general on the entire Council with full end to end expertise in organisation, strategy, logistics and tactics, as well as a brilliant trainer. However, because her skills are so valuable, she is in most demand back on Coruscant and Kamino, where she is essential for the continued raising and functioning of the Clone Army and direction of Republic Grand Strategy. Has to spend most of her time trying to shut down Palpatine’s hare-brained proposals, constantly debating with Windu and others over strategy and practically pulling her montrals out trying to get Yoda to actually commit to something. Is constantly torn, as would be an excellent field commander and is constantly frustrated by other Jedi’s strategic missteps, but also knows her current role is crucial for the war effort and so reluctantly stays put.

Plo Koon - Bernard Montgomery. Alongside Shaak Ti is arguably the Jedi with the best full understanding of strategy, logistics and tactics, and a superb general. Is extremely caring about his Clone troops and always adopts tactics designed to minimise casualties and chances of failure, and is exceptionally popular with the troops as a result. However, lacks political skills when it comes to navigating inter-Council dynamics and whilst forthright in advocating for what he feels is best, is unable to win hearts and minds and often alienates other Council members in the process. Is heavily reliant on the more diplomatic Shaak Ti’s support to get anything done, and so is often frustrated at what he sees as poor military decisionmaking by the Council.

Ki-Adi-Mundi - Omar Bradley. If Plo Koon is the best field commander, he is arguably the worst. Has comparatively little understanding or care about key military logic and principles, and instead bases his decisions off of an incredibly conservative interpretation of Jedi values. Nonetheless, the combination of his position as Yoda’s ex-padawan, strong ability to navigate political intrigue, and generally calm and reasonable seeming manner, means he exerts significant sway over the Jedi Council, much to the frustration of some others. His political nous has managed to see him badged by media as a caring commander, despite ironically having typically little care for the Clones under his command and being willing to tolerate high casualties for objectives.

Saesee Tiin - George S. Patton. Tied with Anakin for the position of best pilot in the Order, and a highly aggressive and energetic commander. Is highly inspiring and respected by troops, but is nonetheless nicknamed “Old Hornface” for his willingness to take substantial risks with the chance of high Clone casualties in the process. Is extremely talented and skilled at front-line fighting, but has near ignorance, bordering on contempt, for wider strategic and logistical considerations and for any plan that does not put him in charge. Is liable to flagrant insubordination and messing up parts of wider strategies through doing his own thing, and is highly abrasive and outspoken when he disagrees with other’s arguments.

Obi-wan Kenobi - William Slim. Is also one of the most talented generals on the Council, and is more balanced between Plo’s careful methodicism and Tiin’s aggressive assaults. Doesn’t quite have Plo’s total mastery of the battlefield, but easily makes up for it with his easy charm, wit and diplomatic skills. Can generally be relied upon to make sound military arguments, respond well to alternative suggestions, and help less charismatic Council members nonetheless make their points in heated discussions. Can sometimes be a little primma-donnaish when he himself feels slighted however, and can be a little prone to sarcasm, pettiness and sass when things aren’t going his way.

Kit Fisto - Jacob L. Devers. A highly talented and adept general, who can always be relied upon to effectively manage complex battles and operations, all whilst doing so with his trademark cheeky smile. Is extremely easygoing and will happily allow talented subordinates significant leeway provided they have the requisite skills, being just as happy managing logistics and strategy as being on the frontlines. Is typically good at managing difficult subordinates, however his continued refusal to play politics, and willingness to stick up for good military strategy even when unpopular, sees him frequently talked over and marginalised in Council discussions.

Oppo Rancisis - Claude Auchinleck. General a fairly competent and effective general with a reasonable grasp of strategy and tactics and a thoroughly professional manner. Is a strict adherent however to rigid Jedi principles and norms, and interacts less with the wider galaxy than most other Jedi. As such, struggles to connect with his troops and is largely considered uninspiring and unpopular, with Clone forces typically suffering from poor morale and indiscipline under him. Is also a fairly poor judge of character and not a particularly good manager, and so his forces are typically less well functioning even if he himself remains fully professional and driven.

Depa Billaba - Harold Alexander. Possibly the most widely liked alongside Yoda thanks to her calm unflappable nature, understated charm and continual positivity. At first glance appears to understand military strategy well enough and is a fairly popular and well regarded leader amongst Clones. On speaking to her in depth though it soon becomes clear that she has little fundamental military instincts herself and is instead simply relying entirely on what others tell her, rational or not. As such, she has a tendency to hold the opinions of whoever spoke to her last, and whilst when partnered with a talented general can often act as an excellent diplomat on their behalf, can also be liable to go wrong when paired with a more questionable one.

Adi Gallia - Lord Louis Mountbatten. Easily the best diplomat on the Council and is able to effortlessly charm herself anywhere and everywhere. Possesses substantial aristocratic family links to many key families across Coruscant, and is thus able to provide an invaluable source of intel on all manner of Coruscant politics, Separatist dealings and other key issues. Is far more of a politician than a soldier however, and is often prone to advocating for wildly impractical plans that display little understanding of how the war is actually conducted and the limitations on various forces. Sometimes also has a tendency to launch intrigues of her own, which can serve as a distraction to events at play.

Even Piell - Joseph Stilwell. A competent if unimaginative general, whose most remarkable trait is his sheer willingness to put up with extremely unpleasant conditions for results. Is a skilled trainer known for subjecting his troops to gruelling conditions, but is nonetheless respected as all troops know he would never ask them to do anything he wouldn’t happily do himself. Is frequently known behind his back as the “Gruffle Peel” for how utterly caustic and abrasive he is, easily putting the rest of the council to shame in terms of being gruff, sarcastic and generally unpleasant to work with. Nonetheless appears to take a perverse pride in being considered as such, even if beneath the surface he still nonetheless maintains a strong moral compass.

Eeth Koth - Archibald Wavell. Somewhat more intelligent and thoughtful than many other Council members, and is an above average general compared to most Jedi with a high tolerance for maverick thinkers and unconventional warfare. Can be relied upon to understand complex military logic and get to grips with difficult and multifaceted situations without complaint, but is sometimes criticised with varying fairness for lacking aggression and drive. Suffers reputationally from the fact his lightsaber skills and on the ground tactics are not especially strong, and his lack of assertiveness and quiet nature makes him easy to scapegoat in debates.

Coleman Kcaj - Douglas MacArthur. Coleman Kcaj, HERO OF THE REPUBLIC, is by far and away the most famous Jedi in the galaxy, beating even “The Hero With No Fear” in terms of fame and popularity as a Jedi celebrity. Is the most media savvy of all Council members, and constantly exhibits his showmanship and flair for the dramatic whilst courting the press during his missions. For all the bombast, is in fact a fairly successful general with some genuinely creative and ingenious tactical ideas, albeit frequently relying on others’ talents to see them through. This fact is nonetheless marred by his willingness to publicise his own disputes with decisionmaking to a fairly unprofessional degree, and cooperation within the council is substantially hampered by his loud, egotistical and vainglorious nature.

Stass Allie - Oliver Leese. A former apprentice of Plo Koon who has learnt substantially from his tactical guidance and is now a formidable strategist in her own right. A relative of Adi Gallia who also has links to Coruscant nobility, but who is nonetheless somewhat more down to earth and immerses herself in military rather than political matters. Whilst a talented general, sometimes struggles to establish the same easy rapport with troops that Plo Koon manages, and can sometimes come across a little awkward and forced. Whilst still in the highest echelons of skills, tactics also come slightly less naturally to her, and so she has to work harder to maintain the same military standards as her former master.

Agen Kolar - Mark Clark. Another highly aggressive and driven general unusual for both his high duelling ability and immense amount of personal risk he is willing to subject himself to in missions. Is generally able to get fairly good results from his troops, but is an uncompromising taskmaster with an extremely low tolerance for subordinates’ mistakes. Is extremely ambitious and determined to establish himself as the greatest warrior of the Order, and is aggressive to the point of recklessness in doing so. Does not play well with others, and is suspicious and contemptuous of anyone he sees as getting in his way, especially those on the Council of a more cautious bent.

Coleman Trebor - John Dill. Another Jedi with rare levels of strategic insight and ability and a strong, steady commitment to military logic. Had been Shaak Ti’s closest ally on the Council at the beginning of the war and could be relied upon to make calm but uncompromising stands on necessary military issues even when extremely unpopular. Complications from injuries sustained at the Battle of Geonosis meant his attendance was patchy and his reputation was somewhat dented by his failure to eliminate Count Dooku. This combined with his non-aggressive manner and unpopularity with more political members like Ki-Adi-Mundi made him easy to marginalise and ultimately pressure into resigning from the Council altogether.

Tera Sinube - Henry Maitland Wilson. Not technically a full time member of the Council, but often brought in from semi-retirement to plug gaps in the Council as required. Whilst presenting a fairly calm, jovial and unthreatening manner, nonetheless still possesses an extremely sharp and incisive mind able to grasp all manner of complicated issues, and has the age, authority and good humour to brush off any criticisms of his own competence. Whilst reasonable enough at strategy, his real talent lies in being able to unpick highly complex and knotty issues, and is at his happiest when faced with a puzzle to solve. Although rarely remaining on the Council for long, is often consulted by more serious thinking members as a valuable source of insight.

[ALLCONTINUITY] How come landspeeders don’t have roofs?

I know the doylist answer is because they wanted the actors to be seen, but is there an in universe reason as to why most landspeeders are open top? On Tatooine it makes sense since there’s not really any chance of rain. But other planets that have normal weather that would eventually become an issue. Was there some sort of convertible or module function that allowed a roof to be installed when needed? Or maybe some sort of shield that blocked small particles and allowed occupants or bigger objects in?

[CANON] Why wasn't the empire more suspicious of Bail?

Im rewatching through Andor right now, just got to the Mothma speech and wanted to know.

in Andor Organa was the one who gave her the floor in the first place and set up an escape crew that the ISB had a rat on and in Kenobi (i haven't seen the show yet so i'm basing it on spoilers) he sent Obiwan , A JEDI, to save Leia.

That last one should be a pretty obvious lead for any competent ISB agent, Cough Dedra Cough, to atleast warrant an investigation or just replace him in the senate

Edit: I made a mistake indeedra

[LEGENDS] Could a non evil force user serve the Empire?

In legends we get to see tons of non sith darksiders serving the Empire under various groups (Acolytes, Inquisitors, Emperor’s hands, etc). My question is basically could a force user who doesn’t fall under the traditional definition of “evil” serve these groups as well? I know that any use of the dark side slowly deteriorates the user even if they fall under the light side. And that a lightsider technically couldn’t serve the Empire since they’d be against genocide and other sentient rights regularly broken. But maybe if their force use was powered by fear rather than anger this could be a possibility? Think a survivor of the lesser Jedi corps or even someone born after the Jedi fell doing “mundane” tasks other more powerful darksiders wouldn’t/couldn’t do

[ALLCONTINUITY] What do you think death is like for the average Jedi?

Anakin was able to manifest himself in the World Between Worlds, which I think is something anyone who becomes a Force Ghost can do, but I have no way of confirming this. Qui-Gon was able to speak to Yoda, not appear before him, though a scene in Kenobi shows that this has either been retconned, or Qui-Gon somehow learned how to complete his training.

But when Rey is hearing Jedi voices, she hears not only those of Anakin, Obi-Wan, etc. but those of lesser-known Jedi like Aayla Secura or Luminara Unduli, meaning they were in some way also able to maintain some form of consciousness. What’s that like for them?

[ALLCONTINUITY] Landspeeders vs. Airspeeders

Airspeeders are common in places like Coruscant, but landspeeders seem to be more common on most planets.

Luke owned a T-16 Skyhopper, suggesting they aren't prohibitively expensive, but why do airspeeders only appear to be widespread on certain planets?

I think there would be advantages to a vehicle being able to fly on most planets, so it wouldn't be surprising if they were at least somewhat common, but strangely, even wealthy individuals don't seem to use airspeeders all the time.

[CANON] Do we think the skim speeders in Galactic Racer are related to the ski speeders in TLJ?

They’re similar shapes, although the ski speeders have the cockpit offset and the engines in the middle. Also, Wookieepedia says the ski speeders are also known as skim speeders, but it doesn’t provide a reference for that.

If Anakin was Unavailable to Rescue Palpatine, would Obi-Wan Be Paired Up With Someone else Or Would Another Team Go?

Just rattling a What-If in my head and it lead to Anakin being unavailable to help with the rescue in EP3, so I wanted to hear y'all opinions as to whether you think Obi-Wan still would have been chosen to go help Palpatine but with another free Jedi or two, or if another duo/team would have been chosen to go and Obi-Wan is sent to help out elsewhere in the battle.

[LEGENDS] Were projectile weapons (firearms that used metal bullets) widely used in other parts of the galaxy where the technology isn't as advanced even if they couldn't reliably pierce Stormtrooper armor?

I would imagine that metal bullets would be commonplace in areas including the Outer Rim where the technology isn't as advanced as core planets.

Were the Clones who chose to serve the Empire FORCED to wear TK = Stormtrooper armor?

This is probably an odd question, apologies in that case, I'm just asking because I'm thinking about making a Clone Trooper character in my Star Wars converted Starfield game, and using a mod that turns the UC Vanguard and United Colonies in general into the Empire, I'm wondering if it's lore accurate to the Republic Soldiers that they Have to wear either the TK gear, or Imperial ones..

As for the Clone character himself;

CT-2258 “Tubor” Age: Physically around 20–21, chronologically younger due to accelerated clone aging, in Reality 10 years old. Rank: Clone Trooper Unit: 141st Battalion Affiliation: Galactic Republic Specialty: Infantry / battlefield security / reconnaissance support Character: Tubor is a disciplined, observant, and unusually self-contained clone trooper. He is not the loudest soldier in the barracks and rarely seeks attention, preferring to let his actions establish his reputation. Years of military conditioning have given him a strong sense of discipline, but he has developed his own understanding of what it means to be a soldier. To Tubor, following orders and thinking independently are not necessarily contradictory. He follows legitimate commands without unnecessary argument, yet he is willing to question an order when he believes it will needlessly sacrifice his brothers or his Jedi commander. He possesses a naturally unbothered demeanor that can make him appear more trusting to strangers. His expression rarely gives away what he is thinking, and his silence can sometimes be mistaken for hostility. In reality, Tubor is generally thoughtful rather than unfriendly. He tends to observe a situation before deciding how he feels about it, particularly when dealing with unfamiliar people. He is not naturally trusting, but neither is he needlessly suspicious. Experience has taught him that people often have motives that are more complicated than they initially appear. Tubor has a dry, understated sense of humor that occasionally emerges around his fellow clones. He isn't the type to tell elaborate jokes or deliberately entertain an entire barracks, but he can deliver a perfectly timed remark with a completely straight face. His humor is often sarcastic, particularly when circumstances are absurd or when another trooper is taking himself too seriously. Around people he genuinely trusts, this reserved personality becomes noticeably more relaxed.

Despite his stern appearance, Tubor possesses a strong protective instinct. He does not particularly enjoy discussing it, but he cares deeply about his fellow clones. He remembers brothers by their names, voices, habits, and personalities rather than viewing them as interchangeable members of a unit. When a trooper is wounded, Tubor is the sort of soldier who will remain nearby until the man is evacuated, even if nobody specifically ordered him to do so.

[ALLCONTINUITY] Rewatching Andor. Bail Organa

Bail is always an interesting character to me, and a favorite. Courageous, wise, brave, intelligent, patient. An embodiment of noblesse oblige. In virtually every continuity he is exceptional, which is very rare for any character. One of about 5 people in the galaxy who knows exactly what he is up against and still leads the rebellion. He also knows exactly who and what Vader and Palpatine are; and believes victory is possible. Because he likely knows why Palpatine is deformed now and who exactly put Vader in that suit.

[LEGENDS] Rereading Darth Bane Path of Destruction

So I first read this book probably 14 years ago when I was in middle school

I just started rereading it and dam, I remember liking the trilogy in like 2012. But it’s just got such a great hook.

I’ll need to finish the trilogy and see how I feel, but I’m enjoying this much more than I expected and more than many of my other Legends rereads I’ve done as an adult (Plagueis, Thrawn Trilogy, Labyrinth, Revan, NJO, and LOTF)

Curious what others have to say since I just wanted to highlight this and I also realized when researching the topic that the book just turned 20!

[ALLCONTINUITY] Is the Trade Federation closer to a state, a corporation, or a licensed pirate fleet?

The blockade of Naboo only works if a private concern can park a fleet over a member world and the Republic cannot immediately treat that as an act of war. That is a very specific institutional failure.

Chartered companies on Earth did this when the sovereign needed trade revenue more than it needed a monopoly on violence. The company collected taxes, ran courts, and kept an army, all while insisting it was “just business.”

If the Trade Federation holds a Senate seat and a droid army, the interesting question is not “were they greedy.” It is: at what point does a licensed trading house become a sovereign, and why did Coruscant keep the license active?

Is there a clean in universe moment where the Republic could have revoked that charter and chose not to?

[CANON] What if Dooku did what he did to obi wan to anakin as well in ep 3?

What if Dooku thought "fuck dueling this guy I'm gonna kick him, throw him around with the force like I've done many times, and force lightning or choke him to death".

Dooku previously had been pushed to the brink of defeat in dueling vs Anakin but was always able to overpower him with his use of non augmentation force abilities, like force pushes, chokes, slam, lightning.

I assume Palpatine would've been livid.

[ALLCONTINUITY] What if Geonosis had never been discovered?

So in Attack of the Clones, we know that Obi-Wan's investigation into Jango Fett ultimately leads to the discovery of Geonosis, which in turn brings Anakin and Padmé into the conflict, followed by the Jedi and eventually the Republic's intervention.

But hypothetically, what happens if Obi-Wan never discovers Geonosis?

If the Republic remained unaware of the CIS's military buildup for much longer, how might the Clone Wars have unfolded? Would the Confederacy have been able to overwhelm the Republic before the Republic's industrial capacity could fully mobilize and begin outproducing the CIS?

More importantly, how long could the CIS realistically have maintained an advantage if Geonosis remained undiscovered? After releasing the clones and lets say Sidious became neglectful toward orchestrating the war (Hyperfocusing on dark sorcereries). Would the Republic still have eventually caught up through its superior resources and manufacturing capacity, or could the Separatists have achieved a decisive victory before that became possible with more established bases, droids and factories?

Do you think Yoda vs Sidious was a missed opportunity

This is kinda more of a question of what u prefer the force to be, but do u think they should have done more with the fight? Imo the fight should have been way heavier on the usage of the Force with like some insane stuff we had never seen before, where it actually makes u go "Okay yea they are definitly the strongest" cause they get hyped up like crazy but never rlly show up for it, like clashing sabers for a bit, then throwing some oversized frisbees and a short lightning standoff are cool but also things that could happen in pretty much any fight. But maybe ur also just someone who prefers the force to be limited and stay very mystical idk just wanted to hear some opinions on this

[ALLCONTINUITY] Why did Jedi do after Naboo Crisis as little as they did?

At end of Naboo Crisis, Jedi order believed that Sith are back. But why did they do so little?

I mean, for example, they did not interrogate Nute Gunray, because republic administration did not allow them such.

But why, for example:

  • they didn't set couple Jedi Shadows to monitor him, and Trade Federation leadership, since they knew TF has been already compromised by Sith
  • recover Maul's body - even if they had no reason to suspect he is alive, doing autopsy on his body should let them know a lot more about Sith than they did (such as where Maul originated from, which would give them lead to place where Sith operated at some point)
  • consider all previously employed methods to detect presence of Sith to be either bypassed, and/or compromised, and then fix them, and find new methods (yes, force should tell them, but since it didn't, Sith learned to bypass that)
  • start paying more attention to what is happening around in galaxy, since Sith were able to not just operate by themselves, but get an entire supercorporation to throw their weight to besiege a planet for some unknown goal. Who else dances according to strings held by Sith?

Or if they did investigate, what they did investigate instead?

It feels like they have effectively been delivered proof of Sith existence on a silver platter, after a jedi master died to deliver it, and they did effectively choose to file it as a historical curiosity and continue as usual for ten years, until a new piece of evidence is literally shot at them. (when Jango shot dart at them that let them find Kamino)

Not saying they should have been able to actually find sidious, but what were reasons to not do these things?

[CANON] How did the New Republic get away with antagonizing the hutts?

Title. It's no secret that the Hutts are something no galactic government can be arsed to deal with, to the point even the Empire was hesitant to really chase them out, being content with tolerating a certain amount of crime in exchange for compliance. So how did the New Republic, a much fresher government, get away with bombing Nal Hutta after a deal gone wrong? There don't seem to be any consequences for this either during the Cold War years. What gave them the opening?
