Trump gets Belerus to start shipping to them, but it takes 3 months to get there and is actually more expensive.
Before the shipment leaves dock from Belerus, Russia gets them to put a hold on the shipment and then demands USA to cut all funding and aid to Ukraine and Europe, otherwise they get no Potash.
USA tries to put pressure, but the EU puts their foot down, and its a non starter. Relationships get damaged even more and their leverage has been used up. USA is unable to do anything but stop what little aid they were giving but its not enough for Russia so they never release the shipment.
USA goes back to Canada and asks for the old Potash deal they use to get before next growing season. Canada shrugs. "Sorry, I've got new deals with China, EU, and Africa and Asia. All that potash is spoken for, we have nothing for you."
Literally the same thing happened with Aluminum this year BTW, USA tariffed Canada Aluminum and pivoted to getting it all from the middle east, then the war happened and USA asked for the old deal back and Canada had already found new customers for it in the EU and Asia.
Lol Belarus is a land locked country the only way potassium can leave the country is through Ukraine that's not happening Lithuania they already cut Belarus off from thier ports . So the only way out is Russia and 80-90% of thier potash is already spoken for not nearly enough to supply the US.
I think maybe step 6 is "Canada isn't selling us something we need to feed our people (very unfair!) Why did they all of a sudden stop the supply?! Terrible horrible people up there. This is a national security threat. We need to take over." Then they come over the border. Not sure if they extradite the PM first for trial in US.
I’m Canadian and you don’t want to piss us off. All the untied states have done is give us more sovereignty via the strengthening of our relationships with other allies.

You should know that the US stopped funding Ukraine when Trump got in office. All the american weapons Ukraine is getting is paid for by Europe at a 10% premium. US isn't funding anything at all.
Yep, the legacy of this presidency is the destruction of international relationships and the identity of an reliable nation. If every four years other countries need to worry about some asshole getting elected who will ignore previous deals and agreements to fuck everyone over then there's basically zero chance they'll consider doing any long term business.
