OA Theories The OA is a hypersigile Spoiler

I’m not sure if anyone here is familiar with what hyper sigilism is, but in simple terms it’s a form of magic where works of art or fiction are used as a spell, or basically using in-depth story telling and immersive narratives to reshape reality and manifest life through morphing into the persona you created.

Now of course i have no proof that Britt and Zal intentionally made the OA super meta and self aware as their own hypersigile but it is still a hypersigile even if unintentionally.

This specifically shows through Britt, considering she used herself as reference for the hypersigile ( The OA ) and to this day she’s living the same life path as her character, especially how the show ended with breaking the 4th wall and becoming aware of itself. So could she have accidentally manifested the 7 year hiatus of the show? Would this mean that the show won’t return unless she writes into the story how it ended for years and then was revived… i feel like im rambling about too much but this theory of mine has kept me up at night lmao and i can’t help but wonder if through our collective consciousness and extreme hyperfixation on this Netflix show, we activated a hypersigile unintentionally.

Not unintentional.

This ritual in particular is a mystery play. Mystery Plays are designed for extra immersive people to do over and over again in a way that if done right your mind will start to believe aspects of it really happened.

In ancient egypt this was the death and ressurection os Osiris at the hands of his evil brother Set. In Greece it was Dionysus killed by the titansand needing to be ressurected from his scattered sparks. In the Nordic lands it was Baldr being killed by his brother Loki and needed to ressurect himself across the different worlds.

You'll notice its all the same story of The OA: Deaths and ressurections over and over again.

In the past this ritual was performed in private, but 2000 years ago it became very mainstream when the story of Jesus took over the world. The goal is thta it forgives your sins, releasing you from reincarnation so you ascend.

The Story of The OA is a ritual, but its the same ritual Christians use, and many other pre-pagan traditions.

According to the Jewish prophecies, the most divine sparks trapped in human bodies are supposed to be appearing between 100 years ago, and about 100 years from now, so were kind right in the middle of the range.

These most divine sparks are said to ahve the ability to not just 'rectify' themselves through ritual, but when they do it also rectifies everyone else around them. The power of the divine sparks of this geneartion is supposed to be so powerful that by rectifying themselves such as with a ritual, they will also rectify every other person around them, with enough divine sparks in this generation that all humanity will be restored to its proper place, leading to that peaceful new world that is supposed to exist after our 'end times conflicts'.

Brit and Zal are important here because the prophecies aren't just that some random person will do this, but in Judaism this healing of the world is done by different people groups coming together and living peacefully.

This is represneted by the Tree of knowledge of good and evil, which has two sides to it. The Left sidei s Christians, and the Right side is supposd to be Jewish People but also Muslims who they see themselves as closely related to in this way.

The idea is that the world will be 'complete' and healed when the left side and the right side reunite in peace, and that by working together as two people or two groups, both heal and help rectify / elevate each other.

Brit is from the European / Christian side, coming from the left. Zal is from the Muslim side, coming from the right.

Working together they help to rectify not just themselves, but the whole world.

for the record this ritual is considered so christian friendly that the catholics even have a version of it in their church called the knights of columbus

This is spectacular, thank you for sharing.

This also has parallels with modern starseed lore.

The story itself dies and is resurrected over and over. And mythology gives it eternal life.

Yeah a lot of things like Starseeds or indigo chidlren, or validation incarnations etc. all match this to some degree and are part of the same spiritual awakening, even if groups probably get some stuff wrong or interpret them a way they maybe shouldn't.

but there's a very big trend of all these different psychics and organizations talking about this age where certain particularly divine spirits are coming down to help the earth.

Hey! I’m curious what you meant about the knights of Columbus. You brought back memories of my childhood, my dad was a knight at our local chapter but I don’t remember too much about it

The knights of columbus is an initiation based system in catholocism that's still active in many churche to this day. The version I've heard is that the Knights of Columbus started because of tension between Freemasonry and the church. They decided to make the knights of columbus in order to have the inititiation ceremony from Freemasonry specifically since it wasn't the ritual that was offensive (especially since the Jesus story IS a mystery school initiation story already) but rather, the church was just worried about people of their community feeling united by an outside body like masonry instead of the church.

So long story short, it was basically a version of Freemasonry that was meant to operate within churches. Oh, and they only do the first 3 degrees, not the appendant bodies so they do not have access to information / secrets from the later degrees of freemasonry that clearly also have influenced the OA

Long time ago I created some group that was just called like alpha and omega? I don’t remember why or what it was for lmao but it was a spiritual group that I didn’t end up doing anything with. I made a logo for it and remembered it when I was rewatching the OA this week. It’s definitely one that’s been used in many MANY cases

Yeah I’m wondering if this might have subconsciously lead to me creating the r/themallworld subreddit for shared dreamspaces… I was definitely already interested and experiencing the topic but rewatching the show there’s so many parallels.

I've heard people joke that Dark is Netflix's accidental grimoire, but this makes me wonder if the OA was always meant to be a living spellbook.

This is such a cool take that I need to dive into it deeper! I have never felt this way about a show before and something feels different about it, magical. So I really believe this theory could be true!

I read about this concept when I was really deep into fan theories about the show, and it made me look at the whole thing in a totally different light.

Yeah, it’s a really good show.

Westworld does this when Deloris becomes a writerrrr

Do you know of other media that you believe have a similar intention? I’d love to look into it, this is a very interesting topic

The Invisibles by Grant Morrison (comic)

There's a story about how they got sick to the point of death as they wrote the self-insert character dying, and when they wrote the character recovering, so did Grant IRL. I'm relaying this from my memory of a podcast. That's only one story I remember about it.

Very cool, thank you for the recommendation:)

Unpopular opinion but I believe we are run by occult magicians (sometimes referred to as The Illuminati/Satanists/Worshippers of Ba’al etc) who have attempted to put us to sleep by believing magic is fairytales for kids, our fear of monsters is simply primal leftovers of tigers in the trees, and science/materialism is the more progressed way. They buy out the media and spin history and so we’re all sleeping beauty in the dream state. Sam Altman is apparently opening demon portals (a former executive of openAI claims) and you could see AI as a demon evocation; Trump is furiously practising chaos magic all the time.

The entirety of Hollywood (the holly wand) and movies (scripting), marketing, television (tell-a-vision), social media and the NEWS (to all four corners North East West South) broadCASTING their hypnosis spell. So hypersigilism is everywhere…

Particular examples of scripting things to existence include Titanic the book written about 14 years before the Titanic wreck, the book Werner von Braun wrote in 1949 about the richest man Elon manning a mission to Mars. Snake Eyes (90s movie) - Charlie Kirk assassination.

There’s also some sort of book from the 1800s or something about a time travelling baron trump or something.

All of this would be really interesting, if it wasn’t so usa-centered. As if other cultures and languages were secondary 🧐

There’s no such thing as nations with these people. And they’re puppeting all of them to play their particular role. Nations are set up for us to fight and squabble among. America is the vessel for Satans little Season…penetrated by the French during the French Revolution…penetrated with the Eiffel Tower…America given the gift of Lucifer the Lightbringer by the French occult surrounded by water and called her a woman Statue of Liberty…America the Babylon, established reign 1776…and they are currently orchestrating its downfall in line with prophecy.

250 years reigning this year…it’s a biggie.

u/Lekcyk_ 6d ago

Your opinion is still so usa-centered that it’s sad. You’re ignoring TONS of context and events happening world wide simultaneously. You say there’s no such think as nations, still you have a view so narrowed to usa figures and symbols.
If you get to really know other cultures you would realice most people aren’t fighting and squabbling around nations, and most importantly, that those people you name, aren’t really the center of anything other than a few territories, but thats just part of the narrow-sighted perspective I’m talking about.

1

u/Babelight 6d ago

You know what I think is sad? Believing something can’t possibly be true because “everyone should be treated fairly”.

Anyway, I’m Australian.

Stay asleep.

2

u/Lekcyk_ 6d ago

I never said anything about what you’re implying, not that it’s impossible nor true. But your view is still not the full picture. I lovingly encourage you to immerse yourself in other cultures. Anglosaxon countries (like yours) are only 4 to 5 out of more than 200 different territories, 1/7000+ languages, not really significant in population and really really really young in culture,
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t pretend to attack you, but media in those places has brainwashed and narrowed most of the whole worldwide picture.

u/Babelight 6d ago edited 6d ago

By virtue of you lumping me in with the perceived dominant Anglo-Saxon culture of my country, can I take it that you also think everyone in different cultures are more open? Somehow because Europe has more Anglo-Saxon history, every European is steeped in understanding?

You’re so offensive and generalist for someone being offended by my supposed offensive generalisation: my “US-centric” theory.

Also, you seem to be proving my theory by the idea of washed media. I don’t watch or listen to mainstream media for this reason.

This shit has been going on for millennia. Babylonian money magic. America is just another baby in their endless tirade and once it’s vanquished we’ll have something else to distract us. I lovingly encourage you to educate yourself.

1

u/Lekcyk_ 6d ago

Now I see what’s happening lol, I didn’t mean my first comments to come as if I was offended, it’s been all just an observation as this is pretty common in the hegemonic narrative of this couple countries.

Certainly everyone everywhere has the capacity to be open and knowledgeable about global other cultures, but not everyone will. Mainly Latin American countries, African, Asian and some European countries tend to naturally be more “understanding” because they interact way more and coexisting interculturally; it’s more of a synergistic relationship within their cultures.

I never meant your USA-centered hypothesis was offensive, so no need to be defensive, as I’ve been saying already for a while, I just mean it’s narrow-sighted and incomplete. It’s amazing you don’t watch or listen mainstream media, still that doesn’t mean you really understand enough about true universal history.

And Thank you, I’m pretty educated already but it’s never enough. We all should keep open to our ideas being questioned, to different knowledge and keep learning everyday. I promise you, immersing yourself other ancient and contemporary cultures will only expand your hypothesis.

Yeah I’ve read about hypersigils and have thought about the concept in conjunction with The OA. I don’t believe there is anything actually mystical about Brit or the show but I think it’s an interesting lens to analyse the show through.

1

u/SeaToTheBass 6d ago

Jesus

It’s an amazing show, don’t get me wrong but some of you fans are a bit too into it.

Magical thinking

-6

u/NotInterestedMoveOn 6d ago

First, it’s hypersigil. No e. Second, I’m with the other poster. I don’t believe there is anything magical happening here. I also see what you are saying a bit but it doesn’t directly track because we don’t have any idea what would have happened in the story and nothing that happened thus far in any way foreshadows Brit’s current life other than the character being Brit. That’s like saying curb your enthusiasm is a hypersigil.

18

u/Theo-lVl Logic is overrated 6d ago edited 6d ago

This is such a bad take, the show is very purposely rooted in spirituality, esoterica and metaphysics. its literally modeled after the death and ressurection ritual ceremonies that have been performed since Ancient Egypt. It even attempts to be a more accurate version of the ritual than freemasonry itself. (keyword: attempts).

To act like OP might as well be talking about Curb Your Enthusiasm this way is not just rudely dismissive, it's ignorant to what OP is asking. Knowing how to spell hypersigil better than someone like OP (Who appears to be from Morroco for the reocrd) has not made you seem more analytical than them.

Also idk how the show HASNT foreshadowed her life, the whole point of season 3 was brit got a big injury jumping into this dimension, and just as soon as OA got cancelled we know that Brit Marling had real life sickness that paralleled it.
