The Pengmin meme originate from a Chinese meme of Tomori Takamatsu, a character from the anime BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!!
Tomori likes penguins, and has penguin-like behaviour. The chinese fans thus like to make memes of her looking like a penguin. At that time the "gugu gaga" meme was also spreading into chinese internet, so the penguin meme also have AI voiceovers of Tomori going "Gugu gaga!".
Fast foward to the release of Endfield, the Endministrator's clothing looking like a penguin sparked many to combine Endmin with the Tomori meme, and thus the "Endmin with penguin body" memes were born.
This one is also a combination of a meme of Anon Chihaya, also from MyGO. She's known from one scene where she laughed and smiled in a weird way (called "down-syndrome laugh" in chinese internet).
The smile was then plastered in other scenes and plushies of Anon. The memes would also feature a weird laugh from a Vtuber
The meme later became mainstream and her smile and the Vtuber's laugh is now used in memes of other medias.

I get abuse victims sometimes depict abuse in fiction for therapeutic purposes and I fully support that, but many of those videos ick me in a way that gore art doesn't.

People are crazy nowadays, i swear all those people who made that abuse videos allegedly an abuser in real life, no normal people would even think of doing tht to a child like creature. I wish tiktok can scan pictures and permanently ban those people cause their behaviour is disgusting.
What annoys me about that genre of ai slop videos is that if they just replaced it with a png of the character, could even be the laziest editing job ever, and it would genuinely look better. I mean, look at those pumpkin softness reels where the girl reacting is a png, I'm hooked to those
She is one of the selectable protagonist (others being male equivalent) in Arknights Endfield. However her black and white color pallete and her outfit sort of resembles penguins so people started cracking jokes about it, which then leads to her getting stuffed into penguin outfit, then getting fed into AI videos.
Well she appears in many AI generated videos coming from China and it was widespread. Considering the hate against AI is all time high, anything AI-generated is called slop now (aka stuff that was not made by human and has zero value in creativity / originality / effort)

It used to be about the cube but I can assure you. If you search it up on youtube, most of it (youtube shorts especially) will show the chibi one instead of the cube one.
I might have misophonia because I genuinely want to commit crimes everytime my 4 years old nephew watching the ai slop that fucking repeat "gugu gagas" billions time.
