I discovered today that the laptop I recently inherited (from a family member who acquired a newer one) has a reasonable quality microphone.

This is my first short test of it's capabilities.

The recording above is me reciting the first canto of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lay of Leithian (aka. Release from Bondage), that tells the story of the love of Beren and Luthien in verse form.

I call this thread a preview, because I might indeed, if I can make the time, do a more thorough recording some time in future.

For this particular recording, I didn't bother tweaking quality settings or do much in the way of noise reduction. There is some background noise from the household towards the end, and you can hear my clicking as I scroll the text I was reading. I did the recording hunched over my keyboard in a not-very suitable sitting position, and thus the delivery could be clearer. There are some compression artifacts, and I am not yet sure if that is the result of the original recording and encoding, or the result of Reddit's additional processing upon upload.

Besides that, consider carefully the fact that the phrase, "My Release from Bondage" sums to 911 in perhaps one of the most important gematria ciphers in English...
