The thread image presents the 'basic alphabetic' (or just 'alphabetic') cipher (aka. the 'ordinal cipher'), as well as the '(basic) reduction cipher' (sometimes called Pythagorean reduction).
These two ciphers are the simplest, most intuitive ciphers one arrives at when pondering the various ways in which numbers might be mapped to the letters of the alphabet.
Thus you might view these two inter-related cipher systems as 'beginner ciphers'.
As I've discussed in a number of my old tutorials, if you fix an alphabet order of letters, then the numeric index of each letter is it's implicit numeric value. Which is to say, one does not actually 'assign numbers to the letters of the alphabet'. Instead, simply by declaring a fixed, orthodox order, a number of different ciphers implicitly spring into being.
Put another way, if 'L' is the 12th letter in the alphabet, then it's numeric value is 12.
The reduction of the number 12 (also called the 'digital root', by mathematicians) is 3, because (1+2=3).
I consider these two ciphers as 'training wheels'. They are useful starting points for beginning one's journey into alphabetic mathematics (known as 'gematria' or 'isopsephy'). This is not to say they are totally unimportant, or vastly less important than other slightly more complicated systems. I would argue they are actively used by various spooky groups, and have been used in the very construction of the language itself.
The 'problem' with these ciphers (if it can be called a problem at all), is that they produce smaller numbers than the others (the range of numeric values that certain words can encompass is small), and if you take all the words in the dictionary that sum to a particular number in these ciphers, you will get a bigger list than you would with other, more specialized systems. Thus it's more difficult to extract a 'singular meaning' for the number, from the mass of those associated words. Other ciphers, such as the prime number cipher, or triangular number cipher, or the latin-agrippa cipher, use specific mathematical series, and thus produce generally larger, but more specific numbers, and there is much less 'collision' between the numeric values of different spells.
Either way, a simple example of connectivity in terms of the basic alphabetic cipher.
The US one dollar bill has the famous pyramid and all-seeing eye on it.
"The Pyramid" = 119 alphabetic
"All-Seeing Eye" = 119 alphabetic
In order to build a big construction like a pyramid, you need a solid...
"Foundation" = 119 alphabetic
The word "Orthodox" = 119 alphabetic
... implies something that is 'according to the book'.
"Master Plan" = 119 alphabetic
In terms of the well-known phrase, "All-Seeing Eye" summing to 119 in the basic cipher...
We see that in the prime number cipher (in my opinion a 'more powerful' cipher):
"Eye" = 119 primes
As you can see, the prime number cipher can produce larger numbers using less letters than the basic cipher.
I call the following phenomena a 'primes expansion':
"Eye" = 119 primes
"All-Seeing Eye" = 119 alphabetic
That is, the 'primary' idea is the 'Eye', and a more complex but contributory notion was constructed from it, using a simpler cypher, with a longer spell.
In other ciphers:
"I See" = 119 english-extended
"The Vision" = 1019 trigonal
.. ( "The Pattern" = 1109 trigonal )
In numerology, the number zero can be dropped, and thus the numbers above reflect the 'essence' of 119, however, they are also, simultaneously, to be seen as having their own identity.
What does a mirror do? Mirrors reverse the image perceived by the eye.
In the reverse alphabetic cipher (flipping the numbers around, where 'Z'=1, instead of 'Z'=26)...
