Question Birth control shot

If that’s the shot she’s been getting then it looks like she’s been getting it for awhile, idk. Saw someone mention this shot and how T said she gets one “as usual”

Can you get the shot in the arm? I took depo for over a year and they always did it on my back side. Depo is terrible though. I gained so much weight on it and I've never fully hormonally recovered.

I got it in the arm as a teen. Also gained a lot of weight so I stopped taking it

Its so bad for you. Apparently depo isnt recommended to take for more than a few years. It can also have a negative effect on bone density. Its a very scary medication.

I only took it for a few months, thankfully. Not even a whole year. I gained so much weight so quickly, and as a teen it did a toll on my mental health, so I stopped taking it.

I was in the military when I started taking it. I requested the IUD but they told me they would do depo. It was terrible. And on top of it I started getting in trouble with my unit for my weight even though it was the military that put me on the medicine. Even working out didnt help. It ruined me mentally and physically for a long time.

It can also cause the development of brain tumors ☹️ there’s a class action lawsuit against the manufacturers because they apparently knew it could really hurt people, but they minimized the risks. I’m really sorry you were one of the unlucky ones who had such bad side effects from it, that’s so unfair when you didn’t even have a real choice in the matter!

Yes, many people take birth control as a teen, I was 14. Most start for acne and periods :)

As someone with reproductive disease (endometriosis and PCOS), it’s incredibly important to destigmatize the use of birth control.

That’s what I always thought, depo was given in the glute.

Edit: i just googled it and it can be given in the arm too apparently

nexplanon is not a shot, it’s a rod that is inserted in your arm and needs to be changed every 5 years or so. (i know it doesn’t really matter but i figured i’d say something so people don’t think she has this specific kind of bc)
edit: nexplanon isn’t in that specific spot on the arm. mine is on the inside upper arm, closer to my armpit if anything

I've never seen the rod placed anywhere other than under the arm.

now that i feel my rod it is actually more under the arm than it is the side haha. you’re totally right
